Chapter 169.2 [Extra six]

Editor: Jodi

Yu Hanshuang passed away not long ago, and there were some issues with the Yu family’s company. At that time, everyone in the Yu family was busy with company matters, and so didn’t pay much attention to Cheng Yu.

As they thought it was fine since he still had Cheng Feng and Cheng Xiao. One was his biological father and the other his biological grandfather, they would naturally take care of him.

It was just that the care Cheng Feng and Cheng Xiao gave him wasn’t what Cheng Yu wanted.

Making it so that when the incident passed and they saw their grandson again, they just felt he wasn’t as cheerful as before, however they didn’t dwell on it much.

Cheng Yu had always been gentle in front of his family, what’s more if he wished, he wouldn’t let anyone see his flaws.

Moreover at that time, he was still in puberty, and everyone thought it was normal for teenagers to change, so no one noticed he was in a period of confusion, longing for family warmth.

Except for Yu Heng.

Yu Heng was the only one who noticed his younger cousin’s change, and so set aside much of his time to hang out with Cheng Yu, to play basketball with him and to eat with him.

And ruffling Cheng Yu’s hair, he told him, “Auntie isn’t here anymore, so if you need anything in the future, you can come to me directly, whether it’s about studying or daily life.”

As a result, he became the person Cheng Yu trusted the most.

“Did you know about this earlier on?” Old Man Yu asked him.

Yu Heng nodded. “I did. He has liked that boy since high school, and he still does. After all these years, he can’t change. So if he likes him, just let him be.”

“How can we just let it be!” Old Man Yu wasn’t happy. “If he liked a girl, then no matter who she was, our family wouldn’t mind. But this is a boy, this is something our family has never encountered before!”

“Before the first person in the Yu family started a business, the people before him in the family had never encountered entrepreneurship either. There’s a first time for everything, so just accept it.”

“I can accept it, but can the Cheng family accept it? Cheng Xiao even mentioned changing the heir last night!”

“They will accept it.” Yu Heng said calmly. “I can guarantee that.”

Old Lady Yu frowned. “But that’s not ideal.”

“What’s not ideal about it?” Yu Heng countered. “Auntie passed away early, and you know Uncle’s character. Xiao Yu hasn’t been happy since childhood, so now that he’s finally happy, why destroy his happiness? Besides, if Xiao Yu marries Lin An Lan and they adopt a child in the future, with his relationship with us, when the child grows up alongside our family’s children and they get along well, they can intermarry. Isn’t that good?”

With him saying this, Cheng Yu’s grandparents had nothing more to say.

Privately and publicly, it seemed there weren’t any major issues. The only problem was him marrying a man, something which was unusual and likely to attract gossip, but….

Old Lady Yu thought of Cheng Yu’s mother, her daughter who had passed away early and became somewhat worried. If she intervened, would Cheng Yu end up like his mother?

Thinking this way, her heart softened, “Then help Xiao Yu more in the future, because he’s bound to face some gossip.”

Yu Heng chuckled, “Grandma you’re underestimating him.”

How would his little brother care about this? Those were nothing but idle words, his little brother wouldn’t give a damn.

When Cheng Yu and Lin An Lan appeared, the people who were chatting lively suddenly fell silent, staring at them in surprise.

Their announcement online had caused quite a stir that even though the Yu family didn’t know about it in the beginning, they eventually found out through their friends’ bombardment, so now seeing him and his announced partner, they were a bit at a loss.

After Yu Hanshuang left, he had been following Cheng Feng, and though he still came back during holidays, his visits became less frequent, making it so that they weren’t as close anymore.

However because he lost his mother early, the Yu family couldn’t help but pity him a little.

But they didn’t understand why a good kid like him would choose to be with a boy. Weren’t girls good?

At that critical moment, it was Yu Heng who walked over, asking with a smile as he did so, “Why are you late?”

“The road was a little congested.” Cheng Yu said, “If I had known this earlier I would have asked you to come pick us up.”

“I’ll take you back later.”

“Okay.” Cheng Yu didn’t refuse.

Lin An Lan who was standing beside him called out ‘big brother’ in a calm manner, “Big brother, Happy New Year.”

“You too.”

Then after saying this, he led Lin An Lan to the sofa.

Old Lady Yu had already had someone look up Lin An Lan’s appearance online earlier, and seeing him now, she couldn’t help but sigh. He had a good appearance and looked like a good kid.

She had asked Yu Heng about Lin An Lan’s background before and so knew his adoptive parents were no longer around.

People tended to feel pity for children with unfortunate life experiences, especially elderly people, because after listening to his story, Old Lady Yu sighed several times then remained silent for a while.

Now, as she looked at Lin An Lan seriously, she felt a sense of regret. If only he were a girl, that would be so much better. He had a handsome face, good education, and decent manners. Why did he have to be a boy?

However despite her thoughts, she smiled at him, “Sit, it’s my birthday today, so there are quite a few people at home. Don’t be shy. If you need anything, just ask Xiao Yu.”

Lin An Lan replied hurriedly, “Okay, thank you, Grandma.”

He had thought that although the Yu family might not be as hostile as the Cheng family, they would probably still be indifferent. He didn’t expect that Old Lady Yu would smile at him.

This was rare, making it so that Lin An Lan couldn’t help but smile as well.

And seeing this, the other members of the Yu family also breathed sighs of relief then resumed their cheerful chatter. They had been afraid that today’s birthday celebration would turn into a grandson scolding session.

Yu Heng sat next to Cheng Yu, his attitude very clear, and seeing this, the other younger members of the Yu family didn’t dare say much.

Even the elder members of the Yu family who didn’t quite approve of this matter swallowed their words back silently.

Lin An Lan and Cheng Yu ate together, then Old Lady Yu asked Yu Heng to help cut some cake for him. Yu Heng gave Lin An Lan a slice, and Lin An Lan took it, saying, “Thank you.”

“There’s no need to be polite. Next time when it’s my birthday, let Xiao Yu bring you along as well.”

“Okay.”

The dinner was quite pleasant. After finishing the cake, Lin An Lan went to the bathroom to wash his hands. However he had barely taken a few steps when he felt some children looking at him secretly.

Feeling puzzled but not thinking too much about it, he returned to the sofa.

Yu Heng and the others had gone elsewhere to discuss matters, while Cheng Yu was playing games with his little nephew.

And sitting beside him, Lin An Lan looked at Cheng Yu’s phone as Cheng Yu brought it closer, showing him the game screen and updating him on his progress.

After watching for a few minutes, Lin An Lan noticed the children who had been sneaking glances at him coming closer.

“Can you sign an autograph for me?” A little girl walked up to him hesitantly, her face a bit red, her voice tinged with subtle shyness. “I quite like you.”

Another little girl behind her nodded over and over again, “I want an autograph too.”

Lin An Lan:….

He hadn’t expected things to take this turn. Nodding, he told them gently, “Sure.”

The group of kids had clearly come prepared, because they immediately pulled out paper and pens and handed them to him. And as Lin An Lan signed, he couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you like me?”
