Chapter 95.1

On the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year, Lin An Lan slept in until after 10am, then got up with Cheng Yu to start preparing the dumplings.

The dumplings were to be stuffed with shrimp, so Lin An Lan mixed the filling while Cheng Yu made the dough and rolled the skins.

Dipping his fingers into the flour, Cheng Yu poked Lin An Lan’s face, then nudged Lin An Lan’s nose when he turned around, causing Lin An Lan’s face to immediately be marked with white marks.

Cheng Yu couldn’t help but laugh, and seeing him laughing, Lin An Lan dipped his fingers into some of the flour himself and smeared it on Cheng Yu’s face.

In a short while, both of them had white cat like faces.

“Childish.” Lin An Lan burst out laughing.

Smiling, Cheng Yu kissed him, his little flowered cat.

After the two of them had played around enough, they went to the bathroom to re-wash their faces and only then did they start wrapping the dumplings again.

Lin An Lan wrapped the mixture into the skin of the dumpling, and with a squeeze of both hands, produced a bulging dumpling with a big belly.

He wrapped the dumplings quickly and in no time they were finished, after which the two of them cooked them together and took them to the table.

“I’m going back to my grandmother’s house for the evening. I’ll be back around nine, so you don’t have to wait for me, have dinner first if you’re hungry.”

“It’s okay.” Lin An Lan blew on one of the dumplings, “I’ll wait for you to come back so we can eat together.”

Cheng Yu didn’t refuse either, saying gently, “I’ll be back early then.”

“Hmm.”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Lin An Lan bit into something. Spitting out what was in his mouth, he saw that it was indeed one of the coins he had wrapped in the dumplings this morning.

“Looks like I’m going to have good luck this year.” Lin An Lan said.

“You definitely will.”

“You go for it. I wrapped two; it would be best if we both have one.”

“It wouldn’t necessarily happen.” Cheng Yu thought the odds were too small.

Saying this, he took a bite and found himself biting into something that was clearly wrong. Spitting it out, Cheng Yu saw that it was really a coin.

Lin An Lan laughed happily, “Ha ha ha. And you just said that it wouldn’t necessarily happen. Now you’ve bitten into one.”

“You’re sure to have good luck this year too.”

Cheng Yu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “I hope so.”

“You definitely will!”

Cheng Yu smiled as he finished eating the dumplings with him. He stayed with Lin An Lan for a while longer, and only then did he leave to get ready to head to the Yu family’s house.

On the first day of the New Year, the Yu family’s house was very busy.

Cheng Yu arrived around the same time as Cheng Feng, but Cheng Feng had a lot to do, so he had a few words with the two elders of the Yu family and then left again in a hurry.

Cheng Yu was in no hurry to leave, so he went to have a chat with Yu Heng.

Yu Heng was playing cards with the other young men of the Yu family and when he saw that he had arrived, beckoned him over, gave him his cards and sat behind him to watch.

Cheng Yu had good skills and won several hands in a row. It wasn’t until one of his younger siblings shouted ‘Big brother, let us win once too’ as he kept on winning that he allowed them win a few times.

Everyone ate dinner together, and the atmosphere at the Yu family’s house was a little more relaxed than the one at the Cheng Mansion, but for Cheng Yu, that was all there was to it.

He didn’t know the elders of the Yu family too well. Yu Hanshuang had left early and her siblings were busy with their own affairs. Plus with Yu Hanshuang gone, Cheng Feng was still around, so no one paid too much attention to Cheng Yu’s growth and no one thought that there was anything wrong with his upbringing.

In the end, he was someone else’s child, what’s more they were all busy. They couldn’t even manage their own children, let alone someone else’s child.

At the whole dinner table, Cheng Yu was only familiar with Yu Heng best, hence when he saw that it was almost time, after he finished saying goodbye to the two elders of the Yu family, he informed Yu Heng that he had to go back first.

“So early? Don’t I usually take you home?” Yu Heng was surprised.

“Something has come up.” Cheng Yu explained.

Yu Heng understood immediately, responding quickly, “I’m afraid it’s not something, but someone.”

He looked at Cheng Yu, “You’ve got a date with Lin An Lan, don’t you?”

Cheng Yu nodded.

Yu Heng frowned, “Are you just going to keep him in the dark like that until he gets his memory back?”

“Can’t I?”

“The longer you delay, the greater the effect on him will be later and the more he will hate you when he regains his memory.”

“I know.” Cheng Yu said.

“But you still plan to continue.”

Cheng Yu was silent for a moment, then smiled at him, “En.”

“You’ll regret it.” Yu Heng told him.

“I won’t.” Cheng Yu shook his head. “I’ve gotten now what I was far too afraid to think of before, so one more day, is a day earned. I won’t regret it, I never will.”

Looking at him, Yu Heng felt that he was like a man walking on a tightrope. He obviously knew that there was a predicament ahead, yet still insisted on walking towards the cliff and seemed unwilling to turn back until the moment he was in pieces.

Not speaking again, his eyes fell on the ring on Cheng Yu’s hand. He looked at it without saying a word.

Following his line of sight, Cheng Yu looked at his ring and lifting his hand, asked, “It’s pretty, isn’t it? I like it very much.”

“It’s good that you’re happy.” Yu Heng said.

“I am indeed quite happy.”

Nodding, Yu Heng didn’t continue to persuade him, “Come on, I’ll take you back.”

“No, the elders will grumble again if you go. I drove here, so I’ll just go back by myself.”

“Then I’ll come to see you in a few days.”

“En.”
