Chapter 78.2

Cheng Yu rushed over.

Lin An Lan poured a cup of hot water from his thermos for him, “Have some water. You have to film later, you have a lot of lines.”

Smiling, Cheng Yu accepted it, “Thank you.”

Jiang Xu looked on, indignant, “Xiao Lan, I’ve been here for so long, why haven’t you offered me a glass of water?”

Lin An Lan looked up at him, “Are you thirsty?”

Jiang Xu nodded.

“Then go back.” Lin An Lan said without mercy, “Once you go back, everything is available.”

Cheng Yu looked down to try to stifle his laughter, however, he wasn’t able to. A hint of laughter showed from his eyes.

Jiang Xu was depressed, “Xiao Lan, I have something to say to you.”

“Wait a while.” Lin An Lan told him, “”I need to go over the lines with Cheng Yu. I’ll talk to you later when he’s gone to film.”

“Isn’t his next scene with Fan Ruiwen?”

“So what?” Lin An Lan asked rhetorically, “Can’t I practice with him?”

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.” Cheng Yu said.

“I think so too.” Lin An Lan echoed.

Jiang Xu: ……

Jiang Xu looked at Lin An Lan helplessly. He could tell that Lin An Lan was deliberately trying to piss him off. “Fine, you guys practice.”

Cheng Yu chuckled, then he and Lin An Lan went over the lines of the next scene he had with Fan Ruiwen.

Jiang Xu listened in, but it didn’t sound pleasant to his ears at all.

When Cheng Yu was ready to go back to filming, Lin An Lan stood up and walked with Jiang Xu to his artist’s van.

Cheng Yu was a bit worried. Although Lin An Lan had patted his arm soothingly before he left, and although he knew that there wouldn’t be any problems, plus the fact that he had already given Lin An Lan some thought in advance that would make it so that even if Jiang Xu did find out that something was wrong Lin An Lan wouldn’t believe it for the time being,

He couldn’t help being afraid. What if, what if Jiang Xu inadvertently touched Lin An Lan with his words and made him start to doubt him, what would he do then?

With this apprehension in mind, Cheng Yu went to film his second scene with Fan Ruiwen.

Lin An Lan and Jiang Xu, on the other hand, got into the artist’s van and closed the door.

Jiang Xu had been thinking about this all day. From the day before when Lin An Lan had asked him ‘What about your mother?’ to the time when Lin An Lan never answered his question of who the ‘her’ he had spoken about was, he had some doubts in his mind, but he didn’t dare to jump to conclusions. So he decided to test the waters a little.

“Xiao Lan, it will be New Year’s soon, so it’s time for us to go back and clean your parents’ house.”

Lin An Lan had no idea that something like this existed. “When?”

“The 31st of December, of course. The last day of the year. You used to spend New Year’s Eve at home, then when your parents left, you’d still go home, clean on that day and stay at home. You used to think of it as spending the New Year’s Eve with them.”

This wasn’t impossible, so Lin An Lan didn’t doubt it. He only said, “You don’t have to go this year, I’ll just go back by myself.”

“That won’t do, we’ve always gone together. You know that ever since my mother left, I spend New Year’s Eve at your house.”

“It’s not necessary this time around.” Lin An Lan said, “You won’t be spending New Year’s Eve at my house for the rest of your life either.”

Jiang Xu froze for a moment, even forgetting to expose Lin An Lan as he retorted incredulously, “Of course I’ll spend New Year’s Eve at home with you. That’s how we’ve been doing it for so many years and that’s how it will be. We only have each other, we can only rely on each other.”

Lin An Lan leaned back in his seat. “That’s not true, I have Cheng Yu now, I can spend New Year’s Eve with him.”

Jiang Xu’s face sank instantly, “No way. Xiao Lan, you can’t spend New Year’s Eve with him.”

“Why can’t I?”

“Because he doesn’t deserve it.”

He sat close to Lin An Lan, “Xiao Lan, have you forgotten something? I wasn’t around all this time, did something happen that you didn’t tell me about?”

“No.”

“You must have.” Jiang Xu was certain, “I asked you who she was earlier, but you never answered me, what’s more we were just talking about New Year’s Eve yet you didn’t refute it, but we don’t even celebrate New Year’s Eve on the 31st of December, we don’t even clean on that day. We only clean a few days before the Lunar New Year. Have you forgotten?”

Lin An Lan: …… F*ck, he hadn’t expected Jiang Xu to come right out and start deceiving him right away. He had underestimated Jiang Xu.

“I forgot.” Lin An Lan said truthfully.

“How could you forget?” Jiang Xu was puzzled, “How could you forget something like that? After all these years, we are used to it, how could you forget it?”

“There must be something I don’t know, right? Did something happen to you that you didn’t tell me?”

“Do I have to tell you everything about me?” Lin An Lan asked rhetorically, “It’s not unusual that I don’t tell you.”
