Chapter 201.2

Editor: Jodi

Lin An Lan’s room was right next to Cheng Yu’s. Their rooms were side by side, both decorated with blue wallpaper, featuring fancy children’s beds and exquisite toys.

This room was much larger than the one Lin An Lan used to share with his mom at home, and way bigger than the dormitory at the orphanage. His eyes couldn’t help but widen in amazement as he murmured, “So big!”

Walking over to the car-shaped bed, he stared at its unique design. “Is this my bed?”

His eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Cheng Yu nodded. “It’s yours. At first, we thought you’d be a little child, so your bed’s smaller than mine. But you’re not that little after all.”

Lin An Lan thought that the bed wasn’t small at all.

“It’s a car bed.” He said happily, running his hand over it. “It even has wheels.”

“Cool, right?” Cheng Yu said proudly. “I picked the design myself.”

“Thank you big brother!”

Cheng Yu grinned. “You’re welcome. You’re my little brother after all, haha.”

Lin An Lan looked around in surprise, thinking the room was so big and beautiful. His new mom was so nice, and so was his big brother, who even chose a car bed for him.

He couldn’t help but lower his head and smile. Watching him, Cheng Feng thought, what a simple, innocent child—to be this happy over something like this.

Innocence was good. Innocent kids were the most endearing. Of course, it would be even better if he were smarter.

Cheng Xiao completely agreed with this. By the time he came back, it was already evening, and Lin An Lan had finished exploring the villa. He was now sitting at the dining table eating with Cheng Yu and the others.

He was holding a meat bun in both hands, taking small bites as he ate.

Yu Hanshuang picked a shrimp dumpling up and placed it on his plate. “An An, have some shrimp dumplings.”

Lin An Lan put the meat bun down obediently and reached for the shrimp dumpling.

He was already pretty good with chopsticks, easily picking up the shrimp dumpling without any trouble. After taking a bite, he thought it was so delicious.

“Thank you, Mom.”

“You’re welcome.”

Cheng Yu helped him get another one, and Lin An Lan said politely, “Thank you, big brother.”

Cheng Yu gave him another, and Lin An Lan had to thank him again.

Cheng Yu picked up his chopsticks and immediately gave him a third.

Lin An Lan didn’t quite get it, and so said softly, “That’s enough, that’s enough. Let me finish these first. Big brother, you should eat.”

As he said this, he picked up one of his dumplings and gave it to Cheng Yu.

Cheng Yu had only been doing it because he liked hearing Lin An Lan call him “big brother” and saying thank you. So, he teased, “If you want more later, just let me know.”

Lin An Lan nodded. “Okay.”

Cheng Yu turned to Yu Hanshuang and said, “Mom, I’ll handle giving my little brother food. You don’t need to worry about it—I’ve got him covered.”

“Alright.” Yu Hanshuang replied, not minding at all.

Just as they were talking, Cheng Xiao came back.

He had already eaten outside, but when he saw Cheng Feng and the others sitting at the dining table, he joined them and asked the maid to serve him a bowl of porridge.

“Is this the child you adopted?” He asked, looking at Lin An Lan.

“Yes.” Yu Hanshuang replied.

Cheng Yu was already introducing him. “Little brother, this is Grandpa.”

After saying that, he turned to Cheng Xiao. “Grandpa, this is my little brother.”

When Lin An Lan saw Cheng Xiao’s serious expression and got a little scared, so he called out softly, “Grandpa.”

Cheng Xiao let out a neutral “Mm.” neither too warm nor too cold.

“Since you’ve adopted him, take good care of him. But, Xiao Shuang, remember what you said before.”

“I know.” Yu Hanshuang replied.

Cheng Feng glanced at his father. “Dad, we’re eating. Don’t bring this up now.”

He placed a bun on Yu Hanshuang’s plate. “Here, eat. Have more.”

Yu Hanshuang smiled at him. She wasn’t upset.

Cheng Xiao had always been like this, and she had long known it, so she didn’t take it to heart.

She finished eating calmly and took Lin An Lan and Cheng Yu upstairs.

**

Cheng Xiao looked at Cheng Feng. “So, is that child staying with us for good?”

Cheng Feng nodded. “Xiao Yu and Xiao Shuang both like him, so let’s keep it this way. Besides, he’s not being added to our household registry, so it’s no big deal.”

“True enough.”

As for Lin An Lan’s household registration, Yu Hanshuang had already discussed it with her big brother before bringing him home. It would be temporarily under her big brother’s name until Lin An Lan turned 18, after which it would become independent. This way, her big brother wouldn’t be put in a tough spot.

Big families were always like this, weighing every decision against interests and assets. Thinking of this, Yu Hanshuang let out a quiet sigh.

*

At this moment, Lin An Lan was in Cheng Yu’s room.

He had planned to return to his own room, but Cheng Yu grabbed him and pulled him into his.

“You’ll sleep with me tonight.” Cheng Yu told him. “Tomorrow, we’ll go to school together, and I’ll tell the teacher we’re sitting at the same desk.”

“Really?”

“Mm-hmm.” Cheng Yu pinched his face. Then after realizing how soft it was, he pinched it again.

And then he pinched it again.

Frowning, Lin An Lan held his hand down. “Why do you keep pinching me?”

“Hehehe.” Cheng Yu withdrew his hand sheepishly, but he couldn’t help thinking how his little brother was soft all over.

His hands were soft, and his face was soft too.

“Then can I pinch your hands?”

“Again with the pinching?” Lin An Lan thought he was so strange. Why did he love pinching him so much?

“Then I’ll pinch you too.” He told him.

Cheng Yu stretched his hand out generously. “Here, pinch away.”

Happy, Lin An Lan reached out to pinch him, and then had his own hand pinched back lightly by Cheng Yu.

The two didn’t find it boring at all, pinching each other back and forth, playing until they finally collapsed onto the bed, laughing.

Hugging him, Cheng Yu kissed his cheek. “So cute.”

Lin An Lan touched his cheek. He wasn’t angry, just a little shy.

But then he remembered his mom once saying that people kissed those they liked, so he figured this big brother must like him too.

But……..

He remembered how his mom kissed him but then left him, and the shyness on his face slowly turned into sadness.

He looked at Cheng Yu and called out softly, “Big brother.”

“Mm?”

“I’ll be really good.”

“You are really good.”

So, don’t leave me, okay?

He reached his hand out to Cheng Yu. “You can pinch me.”

Cheng Yu didn’t know what he was thinking but just felt that this little brother was so good, so unbelievably good.

Holding Lin An Lan’s hand, he pinched it gently, in a soft and light manner.
