Chapter 93.1

Lin An Lan and Cheng Yu rested for the night and then the next day, started to clean the room and put up the couplets.

During this time, Jiang Xu knocked on the door several times, but Lin An Lan didn’t open it.

When Lin An Lan went downstairs to throw away the rubbish, he saw Jiang Xu standing outside the door, who immediately greeted him when he came out.

Ignoring him, Lin An Lan went into the elevator. Jiang Xu followed him in, asking him, “Are you really not going to spend New Year with me this year?”

“We spend New Year’s together every year. Last year, when uncle left, we also spent New Year’s together.” Jiang Xu tried to persuade him.

Lin An Lan’s face was expressionless: “Then last year I must not have known that you met Cheng Feng and Cheng Xiao secretly behind my back.”

Jiang Xu was speechless for a while before he mumbled, “I didn’t see Cheng Xiao last year.”

Lin An Lan gave him a sidelong glance, “Do you want me to praise you?”

Jiang Xu: ……

“Xiao Lan, is this your way of punishing me?” He asked.

Lin An Lan stepped out of the elevator, “No, I just don’t want to see you right now.”

“Then when do you want to see me?”

“I don’t know.”

Jiang Xu felt a bitterness in his heart, “Even if you don’t want to see me, we still have to spend the New Year. Can’t you wait until after the New Year is over and then punish me?”

Lin An Lan threw the trash in his hand into the bin, turned around and walked back. Jiang Xu followed behind hurriedly, whispering, “Xiao Lan…..”

Entering the elevator once again, Lin An Lan pressed the floor he was going to. He even did the same for Jiang Xu, “I’m spending New Year with Cheng Yu this year, and this isn’t what you want to see, so let’s spend it separately.”

“I can put up with it.” Jiang Xu rushed out, “I can pretend he doesn’t exist, I can live in peace with him.”

“You want us to get along peacefully, don’t you? I can try to do that.”

Lin An Lan looked at him in rarefied disbelief, thinking that it was really surprising that Jiang Xu could say such things.

“But I don’t want him to put up with it.” Lin An Lan refuted, “It’s New Year’s Eve, I want him to be happy.”

The doors of the elevator opened and Lin An Lan lifted his chin, “You should get out.”

“Xiao Lan….” Jiang Xu looked at him sadly.

Reaching out, Lin An Lan, not using much strength, pushed Jiang Xu out.

Then he closed the doors of the elevator and watched it go up.

Why did one always have to wait until someone was really angry before they regretted it?

It had been so many years since the time they were freshmen and Jiang Xu could have repented then if he had wanted to, so why put it off until now, until he found out?

If you know it’s wrong, then you should stop right away rather than waiting until the person discovers it that you then lower your head and admit you’re wrong and say you won’t do it again.

By then, it would be too late, right?

‘Ding’. The doors of the elevator opened again and Lin An Lan walked towards his house, a smile back on his face.

On New Year’s Eve, Lin An Lan and Cheng Yu took a nap before sitting up slowly from the bed.

It was destined to be a very festive day, as the trees in the neighborhood were festooned with lanterns that glowed a beautiful red, looking very lovely.

Someone had set off firecrackers in advance, and the crackling of the firecrackers instantly enhanced the smell of New Year.

Lin An Lan took out the dishes for the evening meal and washed and prepared them in advance.

Cheng Yu helped him wash the fruits and then the two of them discussed what to eat for the evening.

The time for the New Year’s Eve dinner was naturally at night. Looking at Lin An Lan’s menu, Cheng Yu said to him, “I’ll be back at around eight or nine o’clock.”

“Okay.” Lin An Lan nodded.

Then he sat on the sofa to watch a movie, leaning against Cheng Yu who kept him company and fed him some snacks every now and then.

By the time the movie was over, it was time for Cheng Yu to leave.

“Go and get some sleep.” He said to Lin An Lan, “I should be back when you wake up.”

Lin An Lan obediently went into their room and lay down on the bed.

Cheng Yu took one last look at him before walking out.

Opening the door, he wasn’t surprised to see Jiang Xu waiting outside of it.

When Jiang Xu saw that he was fully dressed, he asked, “Are you going home?”

“Do you want to come along?” Cheng Yu smiled as he closed the door, “It’s just as well, I can take you to see your father and grandfather.”

“If you go, don’t come back.” Jiang Xu said in a cold voice, “This is not the place for you to be.”

“Then I guess I’ll have to let you down, because I’ll be back soon.”

Finished saying this, Cheng Yu walked towards the elevator.

Jiang Xu asked as he watched his back, “Don’t you even feel guilty?”

“Aren’t you afraid that Xiao Lan will look back on everything later on and hate you?”

“He’ll get his memory back and when he does, he’ll know how badly you’ve lied to him!”

“The person I am now will become the person you will be in the future.”

Cheng Yu didn’t speak, he didn’t even stop.

He pressed the button for the elevator calmly then walked in.

When he looked up after pressing the floor number and saw the resentment and anger in Jiang Xu’s eyes, he only gave one response, “Oh.”

Of course he knew that, but wasn’t that what people did, didn’t they want to do it even though they knew it was wrong?

Just like Jiang Xu, just like him.

He watched the doors of the elevator close in front of him, completely shutting Jiang Xu out of his world.
