Chapter 224.2

Editor: Princess

Chemistry students focused on experiments, while management students focused on practice.

As soon as sophomore year began, Cheng Feng brought Cheng Yu into the company and started assigning him tasks.

Cheng Yu rarely saw him so serious and commanding, and was somewhat surprised. He earnestly studied the company’s classic cases and completed the tasks Cheng Feng assigned.

However, considering his situation with Lin An Lan, he didn’t put all his focus on the Cheng Group. Instead, without Cheng Feng’s knowledge, he quietly contacted Yu Heng, expressing his desire to start a business.

Yu Heng was the son of Yu Hanshuang’s big brother and the most outstanding person of the younger generation in the Yu family. During his studies, he had frequently helped his father make decisions, and was now recognized as the next leader of the Yu family.

After hearing his younger brother’s idea, Yu Heng was quite supportive.

He had never been one to maintain the status quo. During his own university years, he had started businesses with friends, and after succeeding, he had helped his family develop new territories. Now hearing that Cheng Yu had this idea, besides being pleasantly surprised, he also felt he was really his brother.

Cheng Yu had already discussed the business content with Hua Rong, but they were young after all, and their considerations weren’t as comprehensive as Yu Heng’s. After Yu Heng gave him some guidance and he perfected his plan, Yu Heng expressed his willingness to join.

Cheng Yu knew this was entirely based on their brotherly relationship, as someone of Yu Heng’s status as a busy person had no real need to do this. Therefore, he worked even harder on his project. However, beyond the project, his inadvertent display of keen investment insight was an unexpected bonus that greatly surprised Yu Heng, who quickly pulled him into his private team.

On Cheng Yu’s side, he was openly learning experience from Cheng Feng while secretly starting a business behind Cheng Feng’s back. He was incredibly busy, barely touching the ground with his feet, yet he still set aside fixed time every day to be with Lin An Lan.

“Aren’t you tired?” Hua Rong lay on the bed, feeling as if his body had been hollowed out.

Cheng Yu was full of energy. “You don’t understand the taste of love. He’s my motivation!”

Hua Rong really didn’t understand, but he found Cheng Yu’s face detestable. Was this how someone showed off their relationship? He wasn’t considering his single buddy’s feelings at all!

Cheng Yu changed his clothes and said happily, “I’m leaving. You can lie there by yourself.”

“Get lost!” Hua Rong felt too miserable.

Cheng Yu really wasn’t tired. After all, what in this world could be more pleasant than being with Lin An Lan?

Nothing!

So he happily went to the library to find his boyfriend.

Compared to him, Lin An Lan’s life was much more relaxed.

However, he had his own busy periods too. The department teachers really liked him, and sometimes when they had their own projects, they would call him to help out. This was actually a good thing. What’s more his roommates all thought that with this, he could probably get graduate school recommendation, and staying at the university afterward wouldn’t be a problem either.

“I’m so envious.” Yang Lei sighed. “I don’t even know if I can pass the graduate school entrance exam!”

“You’re only a sophomore, there’s no rush.”

“Don’t worry, dorm leader. Work hard and maybe you’ll pass.”

Yang Lei: …Why just “maybe”? Can’t it be “definitely”?!

However, Lin An Lan himself wasn’t very enthusiastic about graduate school.

He actually wasn’t sure whether he wanted to pursue graduate studies or not. For him, pursuing or not pursuing graduate studies didn’t seem to have much of a preference either way.

He told Cheng Yu about this matter, and Cheng Yu was very calm. “It’s fine. You’re only a sophomore, so think about it slowly. Whether you pursue it or not is fine. Even if you don’t want to pursue it then, you don’t have to. If you want to pursue it later, you can take the exam then. You’re so smart, what couldn’t you pass?”

Lin An Lan felt that what he said made sense and stopped worrying about this matter.

Time flew by, and four years of university passed in an instant. Lin An Lan and Cheng Yu stood in front of the school library wearing bachelor’s gowns and caps, taking commemorative photos.

While they were taking photos in the classroom, Cheng Yu took advantage of the empty classroom to kiss Lin An Lan’s face, then had his roommate take a picture of them.

The roommates took pictures while being sour. “Only you like to show off.”

“If you’re capable, show off too!” Cheng Yu was merciless.

After saying this, he hugged Lin An Lan and asked him to kiss him once.

The roommates immediately made “tsk tsk” sounds, but Lin An Lan smiled and kissed his lips. The roommates hurriedly said “aiyo” while keeping their eyes on the camera, taking a perfect shot for them.

Yang Lei worked hard for two years, and his efforts paid off – he was admitted to graduate school at their university. However, to his surprise, Lin An Lan refused the graduate school recommendation.

“Why?” The dorm was full of surprise.

“I don’t want to pursue graduate studies for now.” Lin An Lan said.

This was indeed what he thought, and this was how he answered when his advisor asked him.

The advisor couldn’t understand. “With your excellent talent, wouldn’t it be a pity not to continue with graduate studies?”

Lin An Lan didn’t think it was a pity. He was still young and wasn’t in a hurry to set his whole life in stone early. He wanted to do what he liked and enjoy each day according to his own wishes.

“It’s okay.” He said. “If I later find that I still really like chemistry, I’ll take the graduate entrance exam. But for now, I want to temporarily say goodbye to chemistry.”

The advisor couldn’t convince him to stay, and so could only respect his wishes.

Cheng Yu asked him, “So what do you want to do? Do you want to join my company?”

Lin An Lan shook his head. When he first entered university and saw the school library, he had really wanted to have his own library. Now, he felt he might not be able to own a library, but he could own a bookstore.

He wanted to open a bookstore. A sizeable bookstore with the first floor selling books and the second floor set up as a study room for people to read or study.

“Like a book café. People who buy books or drinks and snacks can read and study on the second floor. If there are many students, I can add a tutoring service where I help them solve difficult problems from their textbooks. They pay me by the hour, and I accept group orders. If student A only has one problem and can’t make up a full hour, they can split an hour with students B, C, and D, and the four of them can share the cost.”

Cheng Yu looked at him, highly suspecting that even students without problems would suddenly have problems just looking at his face.

However, he had always given Lin An Lan unconditional support, so he supported him cooperatively: “That sounds great. Do whatever you want.”

When Cheng Feng and Yu Hanshuang heard his idea, they were somewhat surprised. Yu Hanshuang thought he was deliberately avoiding suspicion and asked him, “Would you be willing to work at my company? The work conditions and benefits are quite good here.”

Lin An Lan shook his head and persuaded her: “I really want to open a bookstore. This way I can read whatever books I want to read.”

Cheng Feng also called him into the study that evening and asked, “Are you afraid of what others might think?”

“No.” Lin An Lan smiled. “I don’t care what others think. Little Flower asked me if I wanted to go to the company, but I don’t really want to. When I was a freshman, sitting in the library reading books, I wanted to have a library. But a library is too big, so I think having a bookstore I like would be good enough. I can read whatever books I like freely, or do other things I enjoy, and I can still make money. Isn’t that great?”

Seeing that he really didn’t want to work at the Cheng family company, Cheng Feng could only agree despite his helplessness.

“Then I’ll help you choose a location so you don’t have to go through the trouble yourself.”

“Okay, thank you.”

“Why are you still being so polite? Look at Xiao Yu, he’s not as polite as you.” Cheng Feng complained.

Lin An Lan smiled. “Then next time I won’t say thank you.”

“That’s more like it.” Cheng Feng laughed.
