Chapter 214.1

Editor: Jodi

Jiang Xu watched Cheng Yu all day, constantly wondering how he was inferior to him.

He really couldn’t figure it out. When he returned to his cold, lifeless home that evening, he felt that he also needed a father.

He had wanted a father since he was little. Before, he didn’t know who his father was, but now that he knew, he naturally should reunite with him as father and son.

The Cheng Group was so famous, with its office building in the most prosperous area of the business district. Jiang Xu found his father’s workplace with little effort. He sat in the lobby, waiting for Cheng Feng to appear.

He was excited yet anxious, his eyes constantly drifting to the entrance.

However, after waiting all morning, he still didn’t see Cheng Feng.

The receptionist, noticing him sitting in the lobby for so long, politely approached and asked, “Student, who are you waiting for?”

“I’m looking for President Cheng.” Jiang Xu tried hard not to let his voice tremble. “President Cheng Feng.”

“What business do you have with him?”

“I have something to tell him.”

“Is it personal or business?”

“Personal.”

“May I ask who you are?”

Jiang Xu was taken aback. He couldn’t say he was his son, so he just said, “I have something to tell him.”

The receptionist more or less understood—this was probably someone unimportant with no significant connection.

So she didn’t interfere further, nor did she convey Jiang Xu’s intentions to Cheng Feng.

Cheng Feng was already in his office, having come directly from the parking garage using his special elevator card, which meant he hadn’t entered through the company’s main entrance.

Jiang Xu waited impatiently for half a day without seeing the person he wanted to meet. He finally couldn’t bear it anymore and walked to the reception desk, asking, “Is President Cheng not in today?”

“President Cheng is already in his office.”

Jiang Xu was surprised. “But I didn’t see him.”

The receptionist just smiled without saying anything.

“Could you help me relay that I want to see him?” Jiang Xu asked.

“I’m afraid that’s not possible.” The receptionist refused.

Jiang Xu looked at the security doors not far away. Without a work card, he had no way to enter. What could he do?

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help feeling bitter again. He was Cheng Feng’s son, yet he couldn’t even see him directly. If it were Cheng Yu, he would certainly be able to see him directly.

The thought made Jiang Xu feel a mix of anger, bitterness, and hatred. He turned to the receptionist and said, “Please help me relay the message. I am his son.”

The receptionist maintained her smile. “I’m sorry, I don’t have that authority.”

“I really am his son.” Jiang Xu thought she didn’t believe him.

The receptionist smiled and nodded but didn’t respond.

Jiang Xu was discouraged and sat back down.

His luck wasn’t bad though, because just before closing time, Cheng Feng finished a meeting with a client, escorted them out, and finally appeared before Jiang Xu.

Jiang Xu watched as he walked the client to the door, chatted a bit, and then turned back after the client left.

Excited, he immediately rushed up, blocking Cheng Feng’s path, wanting to speak but too excited to open his mouth.

Cheng Feng looked up at him coldly. “Can I help you?”

“My… my mother is Jiang Liying.” Jiang Xu said nervously, trying to be indirect.

Cheng Feng maintained his cold demeanor. “Don’t know her.”

Jiang Xu was shocked. “How can you not know? My mother is Jiang Liying! Jiang with the grass radical, Li with the grass radical, Ying with the slanted jade radical. You two…”

Cheng Feng raised his hand, interrupting his excited words. “I’m sorry, I really don’t remember.”

“That’s impossible.” Jiang Xu couldn’t believe it. “My mother said you’re my father. I’m your son, Jiang Xu. Xu from ‘sunrise in the east.'”

Cheng Feng smiled slowly, a smile full of obvious contempt. “I know young people like to call wealthy businessmen ‘dad’ these days, but you don’t actually think that calling me dad makes me your father, do you?”

“You really are my—”

Jiang Xu wanted to say more, but Cheng Feng interrupted him.

“Enough. Instead of spending time claiming others as your father, you’d better study hard. If your father isn’t dead but isn’t with you, then either he doesn’t know about your existence, or he simply doesn’t care about you. Which one would you prefer?”

Jiang Xu said nothing.

Cheng Feng said cruelly, “Many people like to fantasize about the first option, but in reality, it’s usually the second. I have a child, so I don’t need other random people coming up and calling me dad. I don’t know your mother, and I don’t care about her. How do you know she’s not just being vain and lying to you?”

Jiang Xu was stunned for a moment, then quickly pulled out his phone from his pocket, found a photo of Jiang Liying, and showed it to him. “Do you really not know her? This is my mother. Look, are you sure you don’t know her?”

“Of course.” Cheng Feng coldly glanced at the photo. “I’ve seen too many women like her. Why would someone of my status be interested in someone like your mother?”

“Because of her face? Are beautiful women rare in this world? Does she deserve it?”

With that, Cheng Feng smiled and walked around him, heading back.

Jiang Xu stood there, dazed, but suddenly rushed forward, blocking his path again. He frantically searched his phone for another photo, held it up, and asked, “What about this photo? Isn’t this you? And isn’t the woman next to you my mother?! You two obviously know each other!”

Cheng Feng still had that cold, almost heartless expression. “Is that so?”

His tone was calm and indifferent. “When I was young, I was indeed quite promiscuous for a period, and maybe I met your mother then, but it was just for fun. Who would take it seriously? By your logic, I’ve had flings with many women, and anyone could claim me as their father.”

“But…”

“But what?” Cheng Feng was clearly impatient with him. “I don’t know you, and I don’t remember your mother. Even if you are really her secret child, you should know what ‘secret’ means. Since it’s a secret, you should continue to be secret, living behind my back, not coming to my face and making me feel ridiculous and annoyed.”

He brushed Jiang Xu aside as if discarding trash and walked through the security doors.

Jiang Xu watched him, unable to say anything more, the world turning pale before his eyes.

He didn’t want to acknowledge him. He absolutely didn’t want to acknowledge him.

Why? Jiang Xu couldn’t accept it. Why wouldn’t he acknowledge him?

He was clearly his father!
