Chapter 208.1

Yu Hanshuang felt that the best decision she had ever made was listening to Cheng Yu and adopting Lin An Lan from the orphanage. Because without Lin An Lan, Cheng Yu would definitely be heartbroken right now.
Not just heartbroken, but he would have to face everything alone.
Even though he was Cheng Yu’s little brother, the warmth he brought went far beyond what a little brother could give.
“Mom hopes you and your big brother will always be well. If one day, Mom isn’t here anymore, can you try to take care of him more? Look after him a little more, okay?”
Lin An Lan stared at her blankly, then shook his head desperately. “No, that’s not good. I’m not Mom, only Mom is Mom. I can’t take your place. If big brother loses his mom, he’ll be really sad. A kid can live without a little brother, but a kid can’t live without parents. So this is not good at all.”
Yu Hanshuang saw that he was so upset that he was about to cry, so she quickly hugged him and coaxed him, “Okay, okay, it’s not good. Baby, don’t get so worked up. I was just saying it casually. I wouldn’t really let your big brother be without a mom.”
“This is not good, so I won’t agree to it.” Lin An Lan said stubbornly.
Yu Hanshuang nodded and didn’t dare to say anything more.
But from Lin An Lan’s reaction, she knew that even if one day she was really gone, he would stay by Cheng Yu’s side and do his best to make him happy.
Yu Hanshuang suddenly felt envious of her son for having a little brother as sensitive and warm as Lin An Lan.
She looked at Lin An Lan and thought to herself, she had to watch them grow up, right?
Otherwise, she wouldn’t get to see them staying by each other’s side.
“Let’s go.” She put Lin An Lan down, stood up, and decided to go home.
Lin An Lan still hadn’t gotten over his fright and asked hesitantly, “Mom, you won’t leave, right? You’ll always stay with big brother, right?”
“Big brother can’t be without a mom, and I can’t lose my mom again either.”
He said, “I only have you as my mom.”
Yu Hanshuang looked at his pouting, pitiful little face, squatted down, and reassured him, “No, don’t worry. Mom will watch you both grow up. Before you grow up, I won’t go anywhere.”
Lin An Lan reached out and hugged her, feeling a little aggrieved.
“I don’t want to live without a mom again, and I don’t want to go back to the orphanage.”
“No, no, that won’t happen.” Yu Hanshuang patted his back to comfort him. “You won’t be without a mom, and you won’t go to the orphanage either. You’re part of our family, so how could you go there? You still have to grow up here with your big brother, and when the time comes, Mom will even watch you get married.”
Smiling, Yu Hanshuang tapped his nose, “Our An An is so good-looking, he’ll definitely marry the prettiest girl.”
Lin An Lan nodded hurriedly, “Mm!”
Yu Hanshuang packed her things and took Cheng Xiao’s car back home.
Cheng Xiao was a little surprised. After getting home, he brought Lin An Lan to the study and asked, “An An, what did you say to your mom? How did she suddenly agree to come back?”
Lin An Lan repeated everything he had said, word for word.
Cheng Xiao listened, and when An Lan finished, he let out a sigh.
Hugging Lin An Lan, he said gently, “You’re a good kid. It’s a good thing you’re here—at least Xiao Yu can be a little happier because of you.”
Lin An Lan said obediently, “Grandpa, you’re here too.”
“Grandpa doesn’t count.” Cheng Xiao chuckled. “I have my own things to handle, and sometimes, I just can’t take care of your big brother.”
At this moment, he actually felt that Yu Hanshuang adopting a child for Cheng Yu’s sake had been a good decision. They were all busy—so busy that no one had time to look after Cheng Yu. But Lin An Lan was still young, and his entire focus was on Cheng Yu. At least he could still care about Cheng Yu’s feelings.
Thinking of this, Cheng Xiao glanced at him a few more times before saying kindly, “Go play.”
Lin An Lan nodded and left the study quietly.
*
Cheng Yu had just come back when he saw Lin An Lan waiting at the door.
Hurrying over, he asked, “Are you feeling better?”
Lin An Lan nodded, a warm smile on his face. “Big brother, mommy’s back.”
“Really?!” Cheng Yu was surprised and delighted.
“En.”
Cheng Yu, still carrying his schoolbag, was about to run upstairs to find Yu Hanshuang. But just as he stepped onto the stairs, he seemed to realize something, stopped in his tracks, and then stomped back to his room angrily.
Lin An Lan was confused. “You’re not going to see mommy?”
“No.” Cheng Yu huffed. “She didn’t come to see me, so I won’t see her either.”
Lin An Lan looked at his sulking face, laughed, and poked him. “You’re still mad at mommy?”
Cheng Yu just let out a snort.
He turned to Lin An Lan and said, “You’re not allowed to go either. We’re both ignoring her.”
Lin An Lan: ……
“Are you listening to me or not?”
Lin An Lan pouted helplessly. “Alright.”
Cheng Yu was finally satisfied. “It’s still you who’s obedient.”
Right? I’m the most obedient. Lin An Lan thought. I always listen to you.
He didn’t go looking for Yu Hanshuang again. Instead, he asked Cheng Yu to tell him about today’s tutoring class.
It wasn’t until dinnertime, when Yu Hanshuang woke up and knocked on their door, that Cheng Yu finally saw his mom.
But he was still mad, so he ignored her.
Yu Hanshuang hadn’t expected this reaction and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She coaxed him for a long time before he finally agreed to talk. “You never even came home to see me!”
“Mom was wrong. I won’t do it again.”
“Dad was the one who messed up, not me, so why didn’t you take me with you?” Cheng Yu felt aggrieved.
Yu Hanshuang hugged him. “Okay, okay. Next time, I’ll take you with me, alright?”
“And An An too.”
“Mhm.” Yu Hanshuang looked at Lin An Lan. “We’ll take our little An An too. Just the three of us. We don’t need your dad.”
Cheng Yu nodded. “We don’t need him.”
“Then can we go eat now?”
Cheng Yu nodded, then added, “Mom, I want to sleep with you tonight.”
After saying that, he didn’t forget to add, “And little brother too. All of us together.”
“Alright.” Yu Hanshuang agreed with a smile.
She held their hands, one on each side, and led them downstairs.
