Chapter 200.2

Editor: Jodi

Lin An Lan raised his head, looked at the pretty auntie in front of him, then lowered his head nervously without realizing it.

His left hand unconsciously gripped Cheng Yu’s tightly. He felt a little uneasy and a little scared.

He knew that this auntie could take him away, or she could leave him behind. If she took him, he’d have a new mom. If she didn’t, then he’d still have no mom.

Sister Xiao Qiao had said that the older you get, the harder it is to find a new mom.

So he had to treasure every auntie or uncle who came to talk to them—they might be his new mom or dad.

Lin An Lan felt that he still wanted a mom, one who wouldn’t abandon him.

At the orphanage, he had to do everything by himself, learn everything by himself. When he cried, got tired, or felt upset, no one would ask him, ‘baby, what was wrong?’

And when he fell, no one would pick him up immediately.

The teachers were for everyone, every child had them, so they weren’t just his.

But a mom was his and his alone, but his mom didn’t want him anymore.

If only there were a new mom who wanted him, it would be great.

He would definitely be very good, super, super good. He’d earn lots of little red flowers and get 100 on every test, as long as his new mom didn’t not want him too.

However thinking about how he had just gotten mad at Cheng Yu in front of this pretty auntie, he immediately felt so sad that he almost started crying.

This was Cheng Yu’s mom. She must think he wasn’t a good kid because he had just quarreled with Cheng Yu.

She might not take him away because of this.

Thinking about this, his eyes stung, and tears welled up, but he didn’t dare cry. He was afraid that the new mom would see him crying and dislike him, so he kept his head down and stayed silent.

Yu Hanshuang noticed his movements, looked at the top of his dark hair, and asked, “An An, won’t you lift your head so Auntie can have a look?”

Lin An Lan could only lift his head up slowly. He forced the tears back, but his eyes were still clear and bright, looking as shimmering as autumn water.

Yu Hanshuang felt that he seemed completely different now. He was just like a curled-up little kitten—pitiful, aggrieved, looking timidly at the world, making one’s heart ache.

“Why aren’t you happy?” She asked him.

And hearing this, Cheng Yu tilted his head to look at Lin An Lan. And seeing him on the verge of tears, he found it strange. “What’s wrong?”

He reached out to touch Lin An Lan’s eyelids, and Lin An Lan, a little embarrassed, lowered his head slightly, mumbling, “Nothing.”

“Why aren’t you happy?”

“I’m not.”

“But you obviously are.”

Lin An Lan was afraid that if he admitted it, Cheng Yu’s mom would like him even less, so he told him, however there was a hint of grievance in his voice. “I’m really not.”

He pouted. He was clearly unhappy but didn’t dare admit it.

Cheng Yu couldn’t figure it out, so he hugged him, patted his shoulder, and comforted him. “Alright, alright, you’re not, you’re not at all.”

So strange, Cheng Yu thought. This little brother is really weird.

However this weird little brother was still cute, so he still wanted to go to school with him.

“Mom, can I go to school with my little brother and sit at the same desk as him?”

When Lin An Lan heard him say this, he unconsciously grabbed the hem of his shirt.

He wanted to look at Yu Hanshuang’s expression but didn’t dare. Instead, he clutched Cheng Yu’s shirt and lowered his head, waiting for her answer.

Yu Hanshuang had just spoken with the director for quite a while, and more or less understood Lin An Lan’s situation.

And now, seeing that her son clearly liked this child, she smiled and nodded. “You can, but since you’re claiming him as your little brother, you’ll have to take on the responsibility of being a big brother. Take good care of him, don’t bully him, and don’t ignore him.”

Cheng Yu nodded. “Got it.”

Lin An Lan looked at Yu Hanshuang in surprise.

Yu Hanshuang smiled, her expression gentle. “You too, An An. Even if you’re the little brother, you have to listen to your big brother from now on, okay?”

Lin An Lan nodded quickly. “I’m really obedient.”

He was a good boy, and he would definitely listen, so she shouldn’t not want him.

Stepping closer, Yu Hanshuang patted his head gently. “From today on, I’ll be your mom.”

Lin An Lan nodded again, looking up at her with joy.

He was so happy that the rainclouds on his face instantly cleared up. And seeing this, Cheng Yu knew he was happy again.

So, his little brother had been upset earlier because he thought they couldn’t go to school and sit at the same desk together?

He patted Lin An Lan’s head, and Lin An Lan let him obediently.

Looking at him, Cheng Yu couldn’t help but smile again.

Yu Hanshuang had been there all afternoon and was getting ready to leave. Lin An Lan went back to his dorm to pack his small bag, and once he was done, he went to find Xiao Qiao.

“Sister Xiao Qiao, I have a mom now, and I’m leaving.” He handed his toys and snacks to her generously. “This is for you.”

Xiao Qiao was surprised. “Today?”

“Mm-hmm.” Lin An Lan’s eyes were filled with unmistakable joy. “I’m leaving right now.”

“Is it that really pretty auntie?”

“En.” Lin An Lan nodded again.

“Then go.” Xiao Qiao told him. “From now on, just follow your new mom. Don’t think about your old mom anymore. Moms who don’t want their kids aren’t good moms. You shouldn’t remember her anymore.”

Lin An Lan actually still remembered her a little, but he also remembered that she didn’t want him. So she wasn’t a good mom. If she didn’t want him, then he wouldn’t want her either. Besides, he had a new mom now.

“En.”

Xiao Qiao took the things from his hands and pinched his cheek. “Don’t forget me, okay?”

“I’ll always remember Sister Xiao Qiao.”

Lin An Lan hugged her on his own accord. “Sister Xiao Qiao, you also have to find a new mom quickly.”

“En.”

After saying that, Lin An Lan let go of her, waved, and ran outside.

He ran to Yu Hanshuang and looked at her, a little shy.

And Yu Hanshuang, seeing him coming over, opened the car door, and said, “Get in.”

Lin An Lan thought of Xiao Qiao, who had been taking care of him these past few days, and gathering his courage, he asked, “Mom, can we bring another child with us?”

Yu Hanshuang hadn’t expected him to call her ‘Mom’ so soon, however she was even more surprised that the timid little kitten from earlier would take the initiative to ask her this.

“Your friend here?” She asked.

Lin An Lan nodded, not forgetting to speak up for Xiao Qiao. “Sister Xiao Qiao is really nice. She’s super obedient and will listen too.”

Yu Hanshuang roughly guessed who he was talking about—the short-haired girl who had spoken to him.

If it were up to her, she would have preferred to adopt a little girl. After all, she already had Cheng Yu. But Cheng Yu wanted a younger brother, not a sister, so he only wanted Lin An Lan.

If she took back a little girl now, and later Lin An Lan got closer to Xiao Qiao, Cheng Yu would inevitably feel hurt.

After all, triangles were stable, but a group of three could often lead to heartbreak.

And she, as a mother, was naturally biased toward her own son, so she refused gently,

“Mom can only take one child home, so how about Mom takes you, okay?

As for Xiao Qiao, if any of Mom’s good friends want to adopt a child, I’ll recommend this place to them and ask them to adopt Xiao Qiao. Is that okay?”
