Chapter 195.1

Lin Cheng’s little toy car might not be something Cheng Lin would consider particularly fun. After all, he already had so many new, exciting little cars of his own, however this was the very best gift Lin Cheng could manage to give.
And maybe it was the only gift he had to give.
He really was a good kid.
“What a beautiful little car! I’m sure your little brother will love it when he sees it.”
Lin Cheng broke into a sweet smile, glancing down at the little car in his hands.
Cheng Lin dashed into the car the moment Cheng Yu opened the door with great excitement, and not wanting to wait another second more, hopped right in, then immediately saw Lin Cheng sitting there, hugging his school bag in Lin An Lan’s arms.
Lin Cheng who also saw him clenched his hands nervously, unsure if he should speak first.
He wasn’t the kind of child who liked to talk much— he would usually just sit quietly, watching the other person without saying a word.
Cheng Lin, though, wasn’t nearly so reserved. With Cheng Yu and Lin An Lan guiding him, he’d been taught to be open and sincere, so without hesitation, he sat down next to Lin Cheng and looked up at Lin An Lan, asking curiously, “Daddy, is this my big brother?”
Cheng Yu, who climbed into the car and shut the door, answered casually, “Yes, he’s your big brother.”
Cheng Lin’s face lit up with joy. “Really?”
Then he looked over at Lin Cheng, his little face full of excitement. “Hello, big brother!”
“Hello.” Lin Cheng replied quickly, extending his hand and opening his palm to reveal his treasured little toy car. “This is for you.”
Cheng Lin accepted it eagerly, “You also like cars too? Me too! I’m going to drive big cars when I grow up—none of these little toy ones!”
Lin Cheng nodded. “Oh.”
“When the time comes, we’ll drive big cars together.” Cheng Lin continued enthusiastically.
Lin Cheng nodded again. “Okay.”
Little Cheng Lin chatted non-stop all the way home, and Lin Cheng tried to keep up with him in conversation, and surprisingly, he actually spoke a lot more than usual.
Lin An Lan watched them, then exchanged a glance and a smile with Cheng Yu. Sure enough, children had their own ways of communicating—there was no need for adults to step in.

That evening, while they were getting ready for a bath, little Cheng Lin insisted he wanted to take a bath with his big brother.
Lin An Lan humored him, letting both children sit together in the bathtub.
Cheng Lin then started playing around while washing, not forgetting to splash water at Lin Cheng, who just sat back quietly and patiently, not splashing back.
“Big brother, why aren’t you splashing me back?” Cheng Lin asked him.
Lin Cheng looked a little surprised. Was splashing back the right thing to do?
“You splash me, and I splash you. That’s what makes it fun!”
Lin Cheng looked to Lin An Lan, a little bit at a loss.
Lin An Lan said with a laugh, “He wants you to play splash with him. Before, because he couldn’t play alone, he could only play with me or his daddy, but now that you’re here, he can play with you.”
Only then did Lin Cheng splash water at Cheng Lin carefully.
Cheng Lin splashed back immediately, and before long, the water beside the tub splattered onto Lin An Lan. So he joined in the fun, helping Lin Cheng toss a few splashes at Cheng Lin, who giggled non-stop until he’d had enough, and only then did he allow Lin An Lan dry him off, and then carry him out of the bathroom.
“I want to sleep with big brother tonight.” Cheng Lin told him.
“I’ll ask him for you.” Lin An Lan replied as he finished putting his pajamas on for him.
“En.” Cheng Lin nodded.
Lin An Lan turned and went back into the bathroom, where he toweled Lin Cheng dry gently, then he asked, “Your little brother wants to sleep with you tonight. Is that alright?”
“It is.” Lin Cheng answered softly.
“Okay.”
Then Lin An Lan carried him out as well.
The moment Cheng Lin saw them come out, he jumped up right away, while Lin An Lan set Lin Cheng down on his bed, grabbed his pajamas and helped him get dressed, smiling as he said, “You two can work it out among yourselves—decide whose room to sleep in tonight. Daddy won’t interfere, I’m off.”
Cheng Lin waved at him with a grin, saying ‘bye-bye’, and Lin Cheng copied him, waving and saying goodbye too.
Lin An Lan closed the door, however he didn’t walk away immediately. Instead, he leaned against the door, listening.
Children never watched their volume, hence it was easy for him to hear what the two little ones were talking about.
Lin Cheng was easygoing, while Cheng Lin had a bit more of a mind of his own, so in the end, big brother Lin Cheng went along with his little brother’s idea and stayed in his room for the night.
Then the two little ones kept up a quiet conversation until Lin An Lan couldn’t make out what they were saying anymore. Then figuring that they wouldn’t need anything else, he finally left the doorway of Cheng Lin’s room.
