Chapter 122.1 Suspicion
Editor: Jodi
When Yan Hao returned to the dorm from the lab, the news of Sheng Zhuo becoming a Level Nine Mech Warrior had already spread throughout the Federation via Starnet, and seeing Yan Hao back, He Shao sat up from his bed excitedly, “Xiao Hao, have you seen the news on Starnet? Sheng Zhuo has advanced to become a Level Nine Mech Warrior.”
“I know.” Yan Hao nodded with a smile.
“You knew already?”
“Just this morning, when senior mentioned it to me.” Yan Hao told him.
“Ai-ya, why didn’t you tell me if you knew?” He Shao looked depressed.
“What’s wrong?” Yan Hao was confused. He had only known about half a day earlier than He Shao; did it really matter?
“What’s wrong? Do you know that the stock of Sheng Xing Group, the company behind the War God Legion, skyrocketed like crazy today? If you had told me earlier, I could have bought stocks, and it would have just been like sitting on the ground and picking up money.” Just thinking about it made He Shao’s head ache, as if he had lost a large sum of money.
Yan Hao couldn’t help but smile, “Compared to mechs, you’re really better at making money.”
“Of course, I only started learning mech in middle school, but I knew how to make money even when I was in my mom’s womb.” He Shao said as he sat down and crossed his legs, then seeing Yan Hao pick up his clothes to take a shower, reminded casually, “When I went downstairs to pick up a package earlier, I saw one for you, but it’s encrypted, so you need to pick it up in person, that’s why I didn’t get it for you. Do you want to go get the package first before taking a shower, to save changing clothes?”
“A package?” Yan Hao blinked, then his eyes lit up as if realizing something, and dropping the clothes he was holding, dashed downstairs.
“So excited, what is it?” This was the first time He Shao was seeing Yan Hao so excited, so he couldn’t help but be a little curious.
Not long after, Yan Hao walked in with a box about half his height and curious, He Shao took off his shoes and went over to help.
“What’s this? Federal Research Institute?” He Shao scanned the sender’s address, “Is it Old Zhong who sent you something?”
“En, Master sent me some mech parts.” Saying this, Yan Hao took a utility knife then unwrapped the package nimbly to reveal hundreds of miniature mech parts.
That’s right, the mech parts inside weren’t the usual mech size. They were much smaller than normal mech parts. Scanning them quickly, He Shao could already make out the prototype of a mech, and unable to help but pick one of the parts up, he examined it for a moment then said in shock, “What kind of model is this? How come the details on these parts are so realistic, just like the real thing?”
“They are really real.” Yan Hao told him.
“Who are you kidding? Even if you were to assemble this model, it’ll only be about half the height of a person. How can you pilot it, let alone fight with it?” He Shao didn’t believe it.
“This is used for research.” Yan Hao explained, “Master made these mini mech specifically for studying mimetic mechs, and the finished product will be about one and a half meters tall. There are two more boxes downstairs. Can you help me bring them up?”
And with that, the two of them went downstairs again and brought up a box each before they were finally finished with the moving.
And not even going to take the shower, Yan Hao crouched to start assembling the mech.
And seeing him assemble only a single arm after a long while of assembling, He Shao wanted to help, but was afraid of damaging something. He couldn’t help but mutter, “Why didn’t Old Zhong assemble it then send it to you? It’s not as if Mechs can’t be delivered, right?”
“I specifically asked for it. I want to assemble it myself so I can better understand the differences between mimetic mechs and traditional mechs.” Yan Hao had been making traditional mechs for a while now, so it could be said that he had a deep understanding of them, and the more he understood traditional mechs, the more he could identify their strengths and weaknesses, something which, after comparing them to mimetic mechs, allowed him to come up with new ideas.
What’s more he often discussed these ideas with Old Zhong remotely, and seeing that Yan Hao had a lot of questions, with a wave of his hand, Old Zhong decided to send him the mimetic mech model from the lab. At first, Yan Hao had refused to accept it, but in the end, Old Zhong forced him to, saying that the model was the result of his decades of research, and now that it was almost coming to an end, if it could help Yan Hao make another breakthrough, then that would really showcase the value of the model.
And so, Yan Hao accepted it in the end.
Having lived with Yan Hao for so long, He Shao knew him very well, so hearing his words, he immediately sensed something, “Are you having a breakthrough? Is the Level Seven mimetic mech about to be successful?”
Excited, he grabbed his shoulders directly, shouting happily, “When are you going to complete it? You have to tell me. This time, I’m definitely going to buy stocks in advance.”
After managing to break free, Yan Hao said a little breathlessly. “I only have some ideas for now, where is it going to be that quick? Besides, if I’m able to make a Level Seven mech, how does that relate to you buying stocks?”
“How is it not related? If you create the first mimetic mech, who are you going to give it to to use? Isn’t it Sheng Heng? And Sheng Heng is from the War God Legion, right? The research of mimetic mechs has been stagnant for over a decade with no progress, so if you can research and make a Level Seven mimetic mech, it means that Level Eight, Nine, or even Ten will likely appear in the future. And since you and Sheng Heng are a well-known couple, your achievements would directly impact the War God Legion and consequently influence the Sheng Xing Group that is controlled by your future mother-in-law, so of course the stocks would skyrocket. It would be strange if they don’t.” He Shao rattled on with his analysis.
“Then okay, I’ll definitely let you know if I’m really able to make one.” Yan Hao wasn’t particularly interested in these matters, but if he really succeeded in making a Level Seven mimetic mech, then there was naturally no reason to hide it from He Shao.
“Xiao Hao, sure enough I love you the most.” He Shao shouted excitedly, hugging Yan Hao tightly.
Blushing a little, Yan Hao squirmed free.
