Chapter 33.2 Sour note

“I’m waking him up for lunch.” He Shao said.

“Don’t you see how sleepy he is?” Sheng Heng asked back.

“He hasn’t eaten for three meals, do you want to starve him to death?” He Shao glared back.

Three meals? Sheng Heng was stunned. He Shao took the opportunity to break away from Sheng Heng, grabbed Yan Hao by the shoulders and shook him: “Yan Hao, get up and eat.”

Yan Hao opened his eyes in a daze and then a pair of chopsticks were shoved into his hand: “Eat.”

“Oh.” Yan Hao took his chopsticks and obediently began to eat. With that look, it wasn’t clear whether he was awake or sleepwalking.

“What’s wrong with him?” Sheng Heng asked.

“He’s been on a lab retreat for half a month in order to research mimetic induction, and he slept until just now when he returned to his dorm yesterday afternoon. I was afraid he’d starve, so I dragged him out.” He Shao explained briefly.

“Half a month and he just went back to the dorm yesterday. He’s been in the lab for the past half a month?” Sheng Heng’s face darkened, “Why didn’t you stop him?”

“Do you think I didn’t stop him? I dragged him back to the dorm and thought he was asleep, only to wake up the next morning and find that he had gone back in the middle of the night.” He Shao said indignantly, “I couldn’t stay awake to keep watch over him.”

“Good fellow, this isn’t research, this is going crazy.” Cheng Wenkang was speechless.

“Then how come he’s still looking like this after all this time sleeping?” At least from yesterday afternoon up till now was twenty hours.

“He said he had to get 26 hours of sleep and then he’d be fine.” He Shao couldn’t help but spit out, “Even his bedtime is so precise, you can tell he has experience with this and must have done this seclusion many times before.”

“Don’t just eat, drink some water.” Sheng Heng had been observing Yan Hao’s state, and seeing that he was only eating without taking a sip of water, he couldn’t help but give him a glass of water.

Yan Hao shook his head then suddenly covered his stomach with his left hand.

“What’s wrong?” Sheng Heng saw this immediately.

“It hurts.” Yan Hao frowned.

“I told you your stomach would hurt if you didn’t eat.” He Shao had an expression on his face that said he had expected this.

“I’m going to buy medicine.” Sheng Heng got up, prepared to go buy medicine.

“There’s no need.” Yan Hao pulled Sheng Heng back, “I’ll go and dispense the medicine myself when we’re done eating.”

“It’s better to take the hospital’s ready-made medicine for stomach problems; it works quickly.” Pharmacists were a profession born only after humans awakened their mental energy, so most of the medicine created by pharmacists was for mental energy, so people still went to hospitals for minor physical ailments. Of course, pharmacists could, if they so desired, tailor the right medicine to the right condition based on their knowledge of the medicinal properties. However, the effect of such medicine wasn’t as effective as already developed technology to treat diseases such as stomach ailments.

This was why people only went to a pharmacist to create the relevant remedy if the ready-made medicine was ineffective or if they didn’t want to have side effects.

“Ready-made medicine is no longer effective for my stomach.” Yan Hao said subconsciously.

As soon as he said this, all three people sitting at the table froze. With the current medical technology, how bad did his stomach ailment have to be that ready-made medicine was useless?

“Finish your meal. After this we are going to the hospital.” Sheng Heng said in a tone that left no room for discussion.

After lunch, Yan Hao, who wanted to go back to sleep, was dragged mercilessly to the hospital by the three of them, where he was completely awake after a series of tests. When he realized why he was in the hospital, he entered a state of shock.

This had happened because he was so sleepy that he had been confused and said the wrong thing. In his last life, he had been experimenting a lot and eating irregularly, that was why his stomach was bad, but in this life it wasn’t. He wanted to explain, but looking at the three people’s stony faces, he knew at first glance that they wouldn’t believe him, so he simply waited for the hospital’s test results.

The test results would be back within half an hour, so the group waited in the consulting room until a nurse came and sent them to the doctor’s office.

“Yan Hao, right?” A middle-aged doctor, about fifty years old, held the report card in his hand.

“Yes.” Yan Hao nodded.

“A stomach check?” The middle-aged doctor frowned, “There’s no major problem with your stomach, just some cramps, just eat on time, no need to come to the hospital.”

At the doctor’s words, Sheng Heng’s gloomy expression eased.

“Then why did you say just now that ready-made medicine has no effect on your stomach? We thought something was wrong with your stomach.” He Shao said with a scowl.

“Isn’t it because I wasn’t awake? I was confused and probably said the wrong thing.” Yan Hao rubbed his nose sheepishly.

“Doctor, is there anything else wrong with his health?” Sheng Heng asked uneasily.

“There is no big problem, he is just a bit overworked. A few days of rest and he will be fine.” The doctor said.

Sheng Heng was relieved.

By the time the four of them came out of the hospital, it was already 3pm. They hadn’t bought a single box of medicine, but they had wasted half the afternoon.

Yan Hao, however, was very happy, and was laughing foolishly to himself the whole time he came out of the hospital. So this is what it felt like to have someone accompany you.

“You still have the face to laugh.” He Shao was so angry that he was about to poke Yan Hao in the head, but Sheng Heng blocked it instantly.

He Shao slanted a glance at him, pouting disgruntledly. You block it, when we go back to the dorm I will continue to poke. If you have the ability come and block it again.

“I won’t laugh again, I won’t laugh again.” Hiding behind Sheng Heng, Yan Hao waved his hands repeatedly.

The four of them laughed and joked as they walked back to the school. It wasn’t until they were about to part that Yan Hao suddenly tugged on Sheng Heng’s sleeve.

“Senior, can I ask you for a favor? It may take you a bit of time.” Yan Hao asked somewhat apprehensively, as if he was afraid that Sheng Heng wouldn’t agree.

The other two who saw this scene rolled their eyes collectively: what the h*ll are you apprehensive about, the one you’re pulling is probably begging for it.

“Now?” Sheng Heng’s eyes lit up.

Sure enough, he was anxious to do it.

“No, it doesn’t have to be now, just helping after the final exams are over is okay. It might take most of the day.” Yan Hao said in reply.

“Okay, I’ll come find you then.” It would only take most of a day.

“Then I’ll wait for Senior.” Yan Hao nodded happily.

“En, wait for me.”

The two men on the sidelines couldn’t bear to continue listening. Wasn’t it just a favor one was asking and the other was answering? Why did this line sounded like a sour note?
