Chapter 98.2 Old Zhong’s Research Institute
“How long have you been studying the third generation system? Two years, and with over two hundred tests there are still problems you actually haven’t detected yet? What are you guys trying to do? Wait until every Mech warrior in the Federation has upgraded their operating system and then let them have accidents on the battlefield?!” Following this, there was a loud crash, as if something had been thrown to the floor.
Jolting in fear, Baby Bug took a step back, almost crashing into Yan Hao.
“Senior brother, are you okay?” Yan Hao held Baby Bug up worriedly.
”I’m fine, I’m fine, better than the ones inside at least.” As he said this, he pricked up his ears to listen. Then after a while, drawing on his years of experience, he decided that the highest level of Old Zhong’s steam had been vented, so pulling Yan Hao forward, he knocked on the door.
“What are you knocking for? Are you waiting for me to open the door for you?” Old Zhong’s robust voice carried through from the other side of the door.
Baby Bug shivered, then turned to tell Yan Hao not to be afraid then pushed the door open.
Yan Hao: Senior brother, you seem to be more afraid, right?
“Master, I’ve gone to pick little junior brother.”
The people in the lab were having a tough time getting scolded, so seeing that someone had finally diverted this energy, and that it was their little junior brother at that, their gazes moved swiftly towards Yan Hao who had just entered.
Yan Hao: “……”
Even if Yan Hao wasn’t good at reading people’s expressions, he could see the pleading in their eyes this time.
Little junior brother, save us.
“Master.” Yan Hao, with a stiffened resolve, stepped forward and called out.
Yan Hao was very docile and obedient, his big eyes showing a bit of nervousness, looking just like a rabbit that had fallen into a wolf’s den, making it so that Old Zhong, who had been scolding so much that he was red in the face from anger couldn’t help but simmer down a bit after seeing Yan Hao like this.
After all, this was his little disciple’s first day and he didn’t want to scare him off. Otherwise he wouldn’t win against Old Pang the next time they fought over teaching hours.
“You just arrived?” Old Zhong asked.
“Have you eaten?”
Frowning, Old Zhong glared at Baby Bug in disgust, “Why didn’t you take your little junior brother to get something to eat?”
“……” Baby Bug.
“I asked senior brother to bring me here. I have a gift for Master.” Yan Hao said hurriedly.
“A gift?” Old Zhong raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“A gift as a disciple.” Saying this, Yan Hao took out the gift he had prepared in advance from his backpack.
This gift as a disciple was the medicine made by Old Wen at Old Pang’s request. It was made using the wild phantom beast blood Yan Hao had provided as the raw material and had the effect of soothing mental energy and repairing one’s sea of consciousness. It had been sent to the Federal University the day before yesterday, along with Sheng Heng and the others’ phantom elixirs. There had been two medicines in total, one of which Old Pang kept for himself, and the other one was what Yan Hao was holding now.
“This is a soothing medicine made from wild phantom beast blood. It can repair one’s sea of consciousness and relieve headaches.”
As a Master Mech builder and the head of the Federation’s Mech Research Institute, Old Zhong was definitely not short of soothing medicines. However since it was a gift from his little disciple, he accepted it graciously: “You’re thoughtful.”
Saying this, he turned the bottle then saw a small, not so prominent script on the emerald bottle body. It appeared to be an ancient Earth language.
“This medicine was made by Wen Feng?” There was finally a touch of surprise in Old Zhong’s voice.
“Yes.” Yan Hao nodded his head.
After a brief moment of surprise, Old Zhong immediately regained his composure: “That’s right, Old Pang has a good relationship with Wen Feng and always lets his disciples help Wen Feng calculate medicine formulas. Did he get you to help out as well?”
“……” Opening his mouth, Yan Hao didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
Seeing that Old Zhong’s anger had subsided a lot, Baby Bug said smartly, “Master, didn’t you mention yesterday that you had a headache? It just so happens that little junior has brought you this medicine. Why don’t you give it a try? It will also fulfill little junior’s kind intentions.”
”Yes, Master, your health comes first. You were even suffering from a headache this morning.” The other disciples chimed in, nodding in agreement while casting approving glances at Baby Bug.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you guys are up to.” Old Zhong snorted and with that, his disciples immediately fell silent, not daring to utter another word.
“Go eat first. If you can’t get the third generation system up and running by this afternoon, I’ll skin you all.” Old Zhong added.
Perking up at his words, they realized their Master was letting them off the hook for now, and so they all nodded repeatedly.
Because he had been in a foul mood recently, and adding that he hadn’t slept well, Old Zhong was indeed suffering from a headache, so now that his little disciple had thoughtfully brought him a gift, it wouldn’t be right to not use it. Hence he told Baby Bug to take Yan Hao to get something to eat, while he went back to his rest room with the medicine.
The moment he left, the senior brothers in the lab, who, because of the scolding from just now, hadn’t dared to take a single breath, surrounded Yan Hao immediately.
“So you’re Yan Hao, the new little disciple that Master has just accepted?”
“Little junior brother, we owe you one.”
“Yes, yes. Otherwise, your senior brothers would have been in big trouble.”
“If you ever have any problems in the institute, feel free to come to us.”
“Today’s lunch is on us.”
With many voices speaking at once, the crowd herded Yan Hao out and with a bewildered expression on his face, Yan Hao was thus integrated into the life at the Research Institute, bearing the title of ‘savior’.
