Chapter 37.2 Thought of
“Hao Hao, my parents are back, so we’ll talk later.” He Shao turned back to Yan Hao.
“En, go ahead.” Yan Hao took the initiative to end the video call so that He Shao wouldn’t see the envy on his face.
He Shao’s mum sounded very gentle and concerned about He Shao. Yan Fei should be back at Z Star Planet by now, which meant mum and dad should be there to pick him up….
Don’t think about it, you said you would never compete with Yan Fei again. Yan Hao shook his head hard to get himself out of this bad mood.
Although Yan Hao didn’t really understand what He Shao had just said about a man’s pride, he had grasped the gist of it, which was that it had all started because of Senior Sheng Heng’s hand injury. He had examined Sheng Heng’s hand when he had massaged his palm, and if he was correct, the bones of Sheng Heng’s fingers should have been broken and then reattached. With the Federation’s current medical technology, a broken hand reattached wouldn’t affect normal life, but it wouldn’t meet the requirements of being a mecha warrior.
A pair of healthy hands would be injured during prolonged mecha training, not to mention Sheng Heng’s hands which already had old injuries. However, if he could work out the mimetic sensing system, mecha piloting could be done without relying on commands in the future.
Thinking about this, Yan Hao couldn’t help but want to send a message to Sheng Heng, but then he thought about it again. He hadn’t succeeded in his research yet and as a strict person, Yan Hao wouldn’t allow himself to say anything that wasn’t based on evidence.
After a moment of hesitation, he sent a message to Sheng Heng: “Senior, when are you leaving school tomorrow? I’ll come see you off.”
“Ten o’clock.” Sheng Heng replied immediately.
“Then I’ll wait for you at the entrance of the school at ten.”
“Okay.”
Yan Hao still wanted to ask Sheng Heng about his injury, but thinking of He Shao’s reminder just now, he held back in the end. If Senior Sheng Heng didn’t want him to notice, then he would just pretend he didn’t know. Besides, the fact that Senior Sheng Heng had replied meant that he didn’t really want to alienate himself.
The following day.
Yan Hao came out of the dormitory twenty minutes early, intending to rush to the entrance of the school, however before he turned out of the woods in front of the dormitory building, he saw Sheng Heng standing not far away.
“Senior.”
Seeing him as well, Sheng Heng waved at him with a smile.
When Yan Hao saw the familiar smile, the last bit of anxiety in his heart disappeared. He Shao was right, Senior was back to normal the next day.
“Senior, what are you doing here?” Yan Hao asked.
“I’m waiting for you to see me off.” Smiling, Sheng Heng handed the paper bag he was holding to him, saying in a sure tone, “You didn’t eat again, right?”
“You bought me breakfast?” Yan Hao froze.
“I can’t let you come see me off on a hungry stomach.” Sheng Heng said.
Yan Hao blushed. How could it be that he was the one who had come to see him off, but instead he had brought him breakfast.
“Here, eat it as we go.”
Yan Hao took the breakfast and his eyes subconsciously ran over Sheng Heng’s white fingers: there was still redness and swelling at the knuckles, which showed that Senior Sheng Heng’s hands had really been hurt yesterday.
Yan Hao wasn’t someone who could hide things, so even though he thought he was being secretive in the process of stealing glances, Sheng Heng saw everything. After a night of adjustment, Sheng Heng’s mind had calmed down and he was even ready for Yan Hao to ask him about his injuries, but in the end Yan Hao didn’t ask him anything.
Seeing that he didn’t ask, Sheng Heng didn’t bring it up either, and the two of them walked outside naturally.
“The school canteen will be closed in a few days, how are you going to eat?” Sheng Heng asked.
“I can order takeaway.” Yan Hao said in reply.
“I know a restaurant that has good food. Should I recommend it to you?” Sheng Heng smiled.
“Sure, which one?” Yan Hao actually didn’t care much about food, but he wasn’t willing to reject Senior Sheng Heng’s kind offer.
“You have to be a member to order takeaway, but I’m sure you’re not a member, so allow me order for you.” Saying this, without waiting for Yan Hao’s response, Sheng Heng opened the light brain terminal and operated it a few times quickly, “Alright, it’s been ordered. For the next two months, this restaurant will deliver three meals a day to you regularly.”
“Two months?” Sheng Heng’s actions had been so fast that Yan Hao didn’t even have time to refuse.
“The holiday is nearly two months long. Don’t worry, they will match different dishes every day, so you don’t have to worry about getting tired of eating it.” Sheng Heng assured him.
He wasn’t worried about the dishes, but….. forget it, two months it was. He had to eat anyway.
“How much is the total?” Yan Hao asked.
“There’s no rush, I’ll calculate the money when I get back. I won’t be able to calculate it clearly now.” Sheng Heng said.
“Why won’t you be able to calculate it clearly now?”
“Because, if you forget to eat like you did just now, I’ll be embarrassed to take the money, so I have to come back to be able to calculate it clearly.” Sheng Heng told him.
Yan Hao blinked, the gears in his head not working at the moment.
By this time, the two had already reached the entrance of the school and Cheng Wenkang was standing in front of a hover car, seemingly a little anxious as he waited. Seeing Sheng Heng, he couldn’t help but urge, “Hurry up, we’re going to miss the interstellar flight.”
“I’m leaving.” When Sheng Heng saw that Yan Hao was still dazed, he couldn’t help but rub his head a little and turning around, got into the hover car.
It wasn’t until the hover car left that Yan Hao understood the meaning of Sheng Heng’s words.
Was Senior Sheng Heng worried that he would forget to eat, that was why he had said that on purpose?
Suddenly, his chest swelled and a very strange feeling rose up in his heart.
It was warm and ticklish.
Was this what it was like to….. be thought of?

Aw, so sweet, these two!

Thanks for the chapter
Aww, I love seeing these series where previously unloved characters get to feel all of these new emotions while being cared for and appreciated. I blame Tamora Pierce’s Circle of Magic series for priming me for this kind of trope while I was still a kid. But it is really heartwarming to see people who had previously been disregarded and unloved finally being cherished as they deserve.
