Chapter 171.1 The Zerg Emperor appears

Editor: Jodi

Ever since he learned that the current zerg tide might be a butterfly effect that had been triggered by his rebirth, Yan Hao became engulfed in anxiety. This anxiety came later than everyone else’s at the base but was more real than anyone else’s. Every day, he delved into memories of the previous life, wanting to extract more information about the zergs and the war from his limited memories, however no matter how hard he tried, the information he got was just too limited.

In the previous life, he was just a pharmacist who kept on researching and researching medicines, what’s more he was one who was disliked and ostracized by most, and his only source of information was the news that was pushed by Starnet at the time. He knew that the Federation would face a massive zerg tide, and if Sheng Heng’s analysis was correct, then this massive tide was the same one they were facing now, and in that tide, the Federation suffered severe losses, with many high-ranking military officials, including the Federation’s Marshal, dying in the war. This tide lasted three years, with the Federation losing eight to nine planets until Sima Ming Xuan, who had by then become a level ten mech warrior, led a new generation of mech masters to kill the last mutated zergs, thereby ending the zerg tide.

What happened after, he didn’t know, because he died shortly after the zerg tide ended, and then he was reborn. According to his memories from the previous life, the mutated zergs were wiped out, and the zerg attacks stopped, seeming to indicate the end of the zerg tide. So from this it could be seen that this life was much better than the last, as the Federation’s Marshal wasn’t dead, a significant portion of the military’s high-level combat power was still there, and only four planets had been captured by the zergs, planets which could be reclaimed slowly.

However Senior had said that he felt an extremely strong mental energy, and it was very possible that it was from the Zerg Emperor.

Yan Hao was desperate to know if this powerful mental energy had appeared in the previous life or not, whether it really was the Zerg Emperor, whether the Emperor had shown up in the end, and whether the Federation had defeated it.

“If only I could have died a little bit later.”

“What nonsense are you saying?!” Sheng Heng, as usual, brought Yan Hao his food. However the moment he entered, he heard Yan Hao suddenly say this and became so angry that he poked his little head fiercely, “What die a little bit later? Hurry up and pei pei pei.”

Yan Hao covered his head, looking at Sheng Heng with an aggrieved expression.

In Sheng Heng’s eyes, Yan Hao had always been independent and strong. When had he ever seen him show such an expression before? And so immediately unable to bear being angry, he pulled him into his arms gently: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here. I’ll block the Zerg Emperor even if it costs me my life.”

“Who wants you to risk your life?” Yan Hao immediately became even more anxious when he heard this. Wasn’t he precisely worried that something would happen to Sheng Heng?

“You’re not allowed to get hurt.” Yan Hao commanded Sheng Heng for the first time with a tone that could be described as domineering.

“You sound just like my mother.” Sheng Heng chuckled.

“Ah?” Yan Hao hadn’t met Senior’s mother before.

“When I was little, whenever my dad was going to the battlefield, my mom would say the same to him.” At that time he had still been small, and so had thought that his mother was fierce, but now that he was in the same situation, with someone saying the same thing to him, he realized the warmth behind these fierce words.

“You haven’t met my mom yet, right? When the war is over, I’ll take you to meet her. She really likes you.” Sheng Heng told him.

Yan Hao made a soft ‘en’ sound.

“Let’s eat first, I made chicken wings today.” Sheng Heng pulled Yan Hao to sit down then began taking the dishes out one by one, having prepared enough for the two of them. However just before they could finish eating, an alarm sounded from the terminal of the light brain that was on Sheng Heng’s left hand.

Yan Hao’s hand that was holding the chopsticks froze, then he looked at Sheng Heng who was also looking back at him, however he was already up: “I have to go.”

Yan Hao pulled his hand subconsciously. He pulled him, but didn’t know what to say, because he knew that Sheng Heng had to leave.

“Be good and eat, wait for me to come back.” Sheng Heng said with a casual smile on his face as if he wasn’t going to the battlefield but to the kitchen to grab a bottle of vinegar.

“Okay.” In the end, Yan Hao still wasn’t able to say anything and let go.

However just as he let go, Sheng Heng suddenly leaned in, and his hand reaching behind Yan Hao’s head to pull him in closer, he gave him a rushed and heavy kiss. By the time Yan Hao came back to his senses, Sheng Heng had already pushed the door open and was gone.

Sheng Heng rushed to the command center, where officers of the War God Legion, ranked from Major General and above had already gathered, and at the moment, all eyes were fixed on a video in front of them, so naturally, Sheng Heng looked at it as well.

It was a circular black hole, one that was expanding rapidly.

“The rate at which this black hole is forming is unprecedented, I’m afraid even the Tianhe One warship might not be able to make it in time.” Someone analyzed.

“It’s not just fast, look at its size. If what is on the other end are really zergs, then the number that would appear this time might surpass the eight mutated zergs from before.”

“Could this be the main force of the zergs?”

“The Zerg Emperor?”

Sheng Heng’s gaze flinched as he strode over. “Have there been any fluctuations in mental energy detected?”

General Admiral Sheng turned to look at Sheng Heng then nodded slowly. “Ever since the black hole appeared, the military has detected an incomparably large amount of mental energy, likely the same one you felt from before.”

Just then, the command center’s dedicated communication channel suddenly turned on, then the face of Federal Marshal Yu Xiu Yuan flashed on the large screen.

“General Admiral Sheng.” Yu Xiu Yuan looked anxious, “I request that you dispatch all of the War God Legion’s battle forces that are level eight and above to the designated area.”

“Yes.” General Admiral Sheng responded without hesitation.

Then Yu Xiu Yuan’s gaze swept over Sheng Heng who was standing beside him before he hang up the communication.

“Notify the entire legion, all level eight and above forces are to take their mechs and assemble at the port in ten minutes.” General Admiral Sheng issued the order externally.

Ten minutes later, except for General Admiral Sheng who remained at the base as he was the commander, all the others had assembled at the port. At the same time, in Maintenance Room Number One, Di Ya was also screening the corresponding mech builders to follow to the battlefield shortly after.

“Di Ya, I’m going too.” Yan Hao couldn’t help but jump out on his own when he saw that Di Ya had gathered almost everyone but had forgotten about him.

“You don’t need to go.” Di Ya refused directly.

“Why? Isn’t it necessary to find the corresponding mech builders to follow to repair the mechs? I am the builder of ‘Victory’, and also the only one who can repair mimetic mechs.” Yan Hao told him, not convinced.

“Old Zhong has already gone to the front lines, so there’s no need for you to go.” Di Ya told him.

“I am the builder, I’m more suitable than Master.”

“You can’t go to the front lines. This is the highest decision from the Federation.”

“Why?”

“You are the future of the Federation’s mechs. The more dangerous it is, the more we have to protect you. Xiao Hao, I understand why you want to go to the front lines, but don’t make things difficult for me.” If Di Ya had just refused forcefully, Yan Hao would have definitely not stopped there, however after Di Ya said that he was making it difficult for him, Yan Hao could no longer say that he had to go along.

“Then can you tell me what’s going on at the front lines?” Yan Hao asked him, “Is it the Zerg Emperor?”

“At the moment, it’s only a huge wormhole that has appeared, and only a powerful mental energy has been detected from it. As for whether it’s the Zerg Emperor, that’s still an uncertainty.” Di Ya told Yan Hao all the information he had.

“Section Head, all the personnel have assembled.” Someone pushed the door in to inform Di Ya.

“Alright, let’s set off.” Di Ya nodded at Yan Hao, then turned to leave.
