Chapter 145.2
Editor: Jodi
After the award ceremony ended, the War God Legion, in order to express their welcome of the Phantom Dream Legion, hosted a banquet, and during the banquet, Ye Chen, turning into a social butterfly, quickly established relations with all the high-level officials of the War God Legion, his networking skills leaving Sheng Heng dumbfounded and Lin Xuesong with fire in his eyes.
Finally, he walked towards Sheng Heng with a glass of wine in his hand.
Although Sheng Heng was General Admiral Sheng’s son, his military rank within the army wasn’t high, hence he wasn’t qualified to attend such a gathering and wouldn’t have been able to attend if it hadn’t been for his role in bringing in the Phantom Dream Legion. Therefore, during the entire banquet, he stayed quietly in a corner eating.
“You are the one who named it Haoyue, right? It includes Yan Hao’s cute name and likens him to the moon. Not bad, you’ve become much more sentimental since we last met.” Ye Chen complimented.
“I can’t compare to you, someone who is so full of sentiment that someone’s eyes are practically shooting fire.” Sheng Heng glanced at the man who was walking their way.
Ye Chen looked back, and with a slight lift of his left hand that wasn’t holding the glass, the man stopped in his tracks, and although the expression on his face was still dark, he didn’t continue their way.
Sheng Heng’s eyebrows lifted in surprise: “He listens to you that much?” Wasn’t Lin Xuesong the boss of the Phantom Dream Legion?
“It’s obedient people that are handsome and attractive. This is worth learning.” Ye Chen hinted.
“Xiao Hao isn’t like you.”
Laughing, Ye Chen didn’t continue the topic, but suddenly asked instead, “Between you and your big brother, who will end up being the next person in charge of the War God Legion?”
“Of course it’s my big brother.” Sheng Heng said without hesitation.
“What if your mimetic mech’s combat ability surpasses that of your big brother’s?” Ye Chen asked.
“No matter what happens to me in the future, the next person in charge of the War God Legion will still be my big brother.” Sheng Heng said with some displeasure, feeling that Ye Chen was trying to sow discord between him and his big brother.
“But I hope it’s you.” Ye Chen said without evasion, “I chose the War God Legion because of your relationship with Yan Hao, so I hope you will be the next person in charge of the War God Legion.”
Sheng Heng frowned, the look in his eyes becoming cold. He was just about to dismiss Ye Chen’s silly notion when Sheng Zhuo suddenly appeared beside them with a wine glass in hand, smiling as he took over the conversation: “The War God Legion has always spoken through military merits and strength. If one day Sheng Heng’s military achievements and strength surpass mine, then the War God Legion will be his.”
“Big brother.” Sheng Heng said anxiously, he didn’t want his big brother to misunderstand, “I won’t…”
“Didn’t we agree on this when we were kids?” Sheng Zhuo said.
Sheng Heng froze, then remembered the distant past. That had been the first time his father had brought him to Planet S36, back when his hand hadn’t been injured, back when he was still the prodigy that amazed the entire Federation. Back then, General Admiral Sheng stood with his two sons at the base’s port, pointed to the warships that were flying out of the port then said, “When the two of you grow up, you must also fight to protect the Federation like them. When the time comes, whoever has higher military achievements and strength can inherit this place. The loser must not hold grudges and must assist the other well, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Then let’s seal it with high-fives, no take backs.”
The image of the father and two sons high-fiving under the starry sky was still clear in Sheng Heng’s mind. However not long after that, his hands became disabled, and since then, he never thought he would one day be able to surpass his big brother and become the heir to the War God Legion.
“Okay.” Sheng Heng nodded heavily, however it wasn’t because he suddenly aspired to become the heir of the War God Legion, but that he knew that agreeing to this contest and fulfilling the childhood promise was the only way he would be able to show his big brother respect.
Sharing a similar smile, the two brothers clinked their glasses together, then drank up in unison. When they came back to their senses and remembered Ye Chen, they turned, only to find that he had already walked away at some point.

At the Federal Research Institute on Capital Star Planet,
Old Pang, after reviewing Yan Hao’s design drawing and hearing his ideas, reacted almost identically to Old Zhong, so excited he wished he could leap through the video to join the research directly.
“This idea is feasible, and it might be the only way to achieve advanced mimetic mech.” Old Pang gave a high appraisal.
“Master, aren’t these words a bit too certain?” Those in the field of scientific research always spoke with careful precision, hence absolute statements like this made them feel uneasy.
“At least it’s the only way for now.” Old Pang added.
Yan Hao immediately felt at ease.
“Old Pang, if you were to work on this, what do you think the chances of success for this circuit diagram are?” Old Zhong asked.
“Hmm~~” Stroking his grizzled beard, Old Pang hmm’d for quite a while. The two on the other end of the video call didn’t rush him or show impatience, afraid that rushing him would disrupt his train of thought.
“Thirty percent.” Old Pang finally said after a long moment.
“…..” Old Zhong’s beard curled in anger, “You hmm’d for so long only to just say thirty percent? What’s the use of you?”
There was a little bit of disappointment in Yan Hao’s eyes as well. He had thought that because his Master was much more powerful than he was, he would have at least a certainty of a fifty percent chance improvement.
“Thirty percent and it’s still too little for you? How much can you achieve?” Old Pang asked with a cold laugh, his confidence absolute. If even he only had a thirty percent chance, then Old Zhong had at most twenty percent.
And sure enough, Old Zhong kept quiet.
And Old Pang, seeing that he had the upper hand in an argument for the second time in a row was suddenly in a good mood and continued, “The thirty percent I said just now is with respect to the current methods of mech building.”
“You mean, we need to reform the way mechs are made?” Old Zhong caught the critical point immediately.
“Since we want to replace traditional energy transmission with mental energy, then the conductors naturally need to be changed appropriately as well. If we can replace most of the mech’s metal with the kind that can hold a large amount of mental energy, then the effect would be even better.” Old Pang told them.
“Master, do you know of any such metal?” It wasn’t that Yan Hao hadn’t thought about this possibility, but that there didn’t seem to be any such suitable metal in the metal properties he knew about.
“I have a few pieces in my private collection. Because it’s not a common material for making mechs, I researched it for a while, then put it aside. I’ll look it over again in the next few days. If we can mine this metal in bulk, then Xiao Hao, that design of yours can at least be improved by another thirty percent.”
Then that would be sixty percent!
Yan Hao’s heart couldn’t help but thump excitedly.
