Chapter 130.2 Crisis
Editor: Jodi
One day? There’s no way Senior can make it here in time. What should I do? That’s right, I can look for Eldest Senior Brother. He’s in Wamu City and it’s only a two-hour trip.
“Okay.” Yan Hao tried to stabilise Sima Mingxuan.
“Also, before you give me your answer, you’d better not leave this building. And…. I will block all your communication devices to prevent that your Eldest Senior Brother from suddenly coming to find you.” Sima Mingxuan added.
“!!” Yan Hao.
“Little Cutie, you’re really not cut out for playing mind games.” Sima Mingxuan laughed lightly, which dispelled the coldness in his eyes, causing him to return to his seemingly harmless facade. “If you feel that treating me, Sima Mingxuan will make you uncomfortable, then just treat me as an ordinary mech warrior. I admit, I have my ambitions. I want to advance to being a level nine or even a level ten mech warrior and I want to inherit the Sima Legion and maybe even become a Federal Marshal. However in doing all of this, I’m also defending the Federation and I’ll literally also be on the front lines killing the zergs. My contributions to the Federation will be no less than any other soldier’s.”
After saying this, Sima Mingxuan didn’t disturb him anymore and left, closing the door behind him.
It had to be said that Sima Mingxuan was really skilled in the art of persuasion, because regardless of how unpleasant he might be as a person and whatever he had done previously, the moment he said those last words, Yan Hao had to admit that he made sense. In the previous life, he had personally led his team to repel several large-scale zerg invasions.
The next day, in Wamu City, at the military base:
Cong Yi had just come out of the maintenance room and was feeling stiff and sore. He had barely taken a sit to take a sip of water when the base’s alarm suddenly went off.
“Yan Rong, go and see what is happening.” Cong Yi shouted towards his deputy.
“Yes.” However the moment Yan Rong went out, the terminal of Cong Yi’s light brain was forcefully connected to a video call.
This kind of forced access could only be done through the Federation’s military network and was reserved for exceptionally urgent situations, bypassing the need for the individual’s permission.
“Lieutenant Colonel Cong Yi, we need you to come to the airborne fortress immediately.” A middle aged man with a moustache ordered through the video call.
“Colonel Cang Yan, may I ask what’s happening?”
“We just detected an abnormal spatial black hole, and around it, there have been successive appearances of level seven zergs. We suspect that Z Star Planet will face a large scale zerg attack.” Colonel Cang Yan explained quickly.
“How is that possible? Z Star Planet is an inner realm planet, what’s more the Feng family’s Divine Wind Legion is stationed on the outskirts. How could the zergs suddenly attack us here?”
“We’re still investigating the specific reasons. Right now, I need you to come and repair Tianhe One.”
“Tianhe One? Tianhe One is malfunctioning?” Cong Yi shouted in shock.
Tianhe One was the most powerful warship on Z Star Planet. Because of Z Star Planet’s geographical location, it usually wasn’t troubled by the zergs, and what they encountered at most was nothing more than small groups of interstellar pirates. Hence the military force stationed on Z Star Planet was limited, and now, facing an unknown spatial black hole, Tianhe One was probably the only weapon capable of confronting the high level zergs.
“We attempted to use Tianhe One to strike the spatial black hole, hoping to intimidate the zergs and force them to retreat, but for some reason, after just one shot, Tianhe One’s power went out. We can’t find the cause and the spatial black hole is growing larger. Zergs are already jumping out from it one after the other. If we can’t seal the black hole in time, our Z Star Planet will be in grave danger. Lieutenant Colonel Cong Yi, we can only rely on you now.” Colonel Cang Yan shouted.
“But I’ve never worked on Tianhe One before.” Cong Yi told him.
“We’ve already contacted Professor Pang Tianhe, but he can’t come in person and can only provide remote support. You are the most skilled mech builder on our planet, and you’re also Old Zhong’s disciple. You can definitely repair Tianhe One.”
You really think too highly of me.
The reason Tianhe One was called Tianhe One was because it had been made and designed by Old Pang himself. Among vast swarms of zergs, level ten Zerg Emperors possessed a spatial jumping ability. That is they could create spatial passage in voids, allowing zerg swarms to move to another Star Planet System through it.
And because spatial passages were unpredictable, humans had no way of preventing them. Hence once a spatial passage appeared on a vulnerable planet and rescue wasn’t immediate, within a day, the entire planet’s population would be consumed by the zergs. There had been an incident like this thirty years ago and an entire planet was cleansed out by the zergs, with eight billion people killed and over half injured, a tragic incident which shocked the entire Federation.
And because of this incident, Old Pang dedicated five years to research and developed a large warship that was capable of disrupting spatial passages, and in order to thank him, the Federation named the warship Tianhe One after him. Many smaller planets with insufficient military power, in order to prevent a tragedy like that from happening again, equipped themselves with this warship.
This is a world saving weapon, do you think it’s a particle cannon on a mech’s shoulder that just any random mech builder can fix? If Cong Yi could, he would have roared this at the sky, however he knew Colonel Cang Yan was also out of options . In the whole of Z Star Planet, aapart from him, there might not be another mech builder who would even be able to understand Old Pang’s instructions, let alone repair the warship.
Wait, another mech builder?
“Yan Rong!” Cong Yi rushed to the door and shouted outside.
“Lieutenant Colonel?” Yan Rong flew back in a hurry.
“Where’s my little junior brother? Did you pick him up?” Cong Yi had been in the maintenance room these past few days and hadn’t had a chance to ask Yan Rong about the situation.
“I did.”
“Where is he?”
“He’s at home.”
“Let’s go, we need to pick him up.” Cong Yi grabbed Yan Rong and was about to head out.
“Colonel Cang Yan instructed us to head to the airborne fortress immediately, the zergs’ spatial passage is about to open.” The zergs were about to attack and the Lieutenant Colonel still had time to go and look for his junior brother?
“If you don’t want the zergs to come, then go and pick my little junior brother up. He’s Old Pang’s disciple.”
“!!” Wasn’t the Lieutenant Colonel Old Zhong’s disciple? How did his little junior brother become Old Pang’s disciple?
“What are you waiting for? Go and pick him up.”
