Chapter 178.3 The End
Editor: Jodi
The terminal of the light brain on Yan Hao’s wrist suddenly flashed, causing his expression to change, then he immediately stopped what he was doing.
“A wormhole has been detected?” Over the years, He Shao had become familiar with this alarm sound. These alerts were from the space detectors Yan Hao had deployed in space.
Because knowing that the military had given up hope for Sheng Heng’s survival, he started searching on his own, launching a certain number of detectors into space from time to time, all connected to his own light brain. The Federation was aware of his actions, but turned a blind eye, largely ignoring them. And over the years, these detectors had triggered a few times, however it was never Sheng Heng, just minor wormholes formed by the movement of space particles.
Yan Hao didn’t respond. Instead, he determined which detector the signal had come from quickly, then swiftly inputted a series of commands, bringing up the video feed from around that detector.
And on the screen, one could see a small wormhole forming, its center a disk-sized black space that was surrounded by distorted spatial forces. This circular space kept rotating, stirring the space around it into expanding slowly.
“Isn’t this wormhole expanding too fast?” Yan Hao had observed countless wormholes over the years, and so He Shao, having been with him, had also seen quite a few. However this was the first time he was seeing one forming so rapidly.
“It’s not just fast, it’s forming at a constant speed.” Yan Hao’s fists clenched tightly. A wormhole that was expanding at uniform speed indicated that the power birthing this wormhole was being released at a constant rate.
There were many wonders in space, however a spontaneous wormhole that expanded at a constant rate was exceedingly rare.
“It’s senior.” A voice in Yan Hao’s mind told him that it was Sheng Heng in there.
He’s gone crazy again. He Shao sighed quietly. Every time a wormhole appeared, Yan Hao would want Sheng Heng to be inside.
The wormhole on the screen grew larger and larger until a streak of light pierced through. It was a dazzling gem-like blue.
At this moment, not just Yan Hao, even He Shao froze, because everyone knew the mech Sheng Heng piloted. It was the first advanced mimetic mech recorded in the Federation’s history, an azure blue mech called ‘Victory’.
Could it be that it was really Sheng Heng?
Finally, the blue light grew brighter and larger, slowly revealing the silhouette of a mech.
It was a mech, indeed a mech, however how come it looked like a half of it was missing? However even with a half if it missing, Yan Hao recognized it at a glance. It was Victory, the mech he had poured his heart into, hoping it would protect Sheng Heng on the battlefield.
“Is it Victory? Is that mech Victory?” He Shao didn’t dare say it was, so he asked anxiously.
Yan Hao didn’t reply. Instead, he raised his hand to turn his communicator on, then clicked on the top contact.
Contact: Sheng Heng.
Then trembling, he tapped the call button.
In space, aside from the military’s special channels, light brains had no signal, however with Yan Hao it was different. He had fitted each space detector with a signal interface device, which made it so that his light brain could reach all of the space detectors.
“Beep, beep~~”
Yan Hao held his breath, waiting for the call to connect, and although it only took two seconds, it felt like a century to him.
Then finally, the call connected.
“Xiao Hao.” Sheng Heng’s voice came through the signal.
Yan Hao looked up at He Shao, then two lines of tear suddenly fell from his clear eyes. This was the first time, the first time since Sheng Heng disappeared that he had cried.
“Is it senior?” Yan Hao asked, trembling, asking both Sheng Heng who was on the other end and He Shao who was beside him.
He Shao didn’t dare answer, because he also felt as if he was dreaming.
“It’s me.” Sheng Heng’s voice sounded again, “The mech’s energy is too low, so I’m only able to activate the lowest energy consumption mode, that’s why I’m not able to turn on video function, but it’s me, I’m back.”
Sheng Heng repeated.
“Senior, wait for me, I’m coming to get you.” Yan Hao said then ran out. He wanted to see Sheng Heng too much.
“You won’t make it in time going now, notify the nearest garrison first, then have them pick him up.” He Shao reacted, then reached out to pull Yan Hao back.
“Right, right, let the people nearby pick him up. Senior, what do you need? I’ll have them bring it over to you.” Yan Hao said urgently.
“Energy blocks, then I’ll see you right away.” Sheng Heng told him.
“Wuu wuu~~ I’m coming over now.”
“No, you wait for me.”
The military’s space fluctuation monitoring also detected the signal, and by the time Yan Hao notified them, a patrol ship was already on its way. The news of Sheng Heng’s return spread throughout the entire military hierarchy in a minute. However just as the military’s top brass were rushing to the planet where Sheng Heng was reported to have been spotted, a sudden report came in saying that he had disappeared.
“……” The military’s top brass.
Could it be that Sheng Heng hadn’t come back and that what had just happened was a collective dream?
At the same time, outside the atmosphere of Capital Star Planet, a small wormhole was forming, and then an azure blue mech appeared outside the atmosphere. Then Sheng Heng, looking at the familiar planet, piloted his mech downward.
“Your entry permit isn’t detected. Do you have special military approval papers? Or special permit papers? If you don’t, you will be regarded as an enemy and shot down.”
Sheng Heng froze, then hesitated for a moment before making a call to his family.
