Chapter 178.1 The End

Editor: Jodi

No, he couldn’t fall out, this wasn’t his space-time, he had to go back.

However no matter how desperately he wanted to do something, he was powerless to do so, and even trying to fly out through a gap in the spatial corridor, caused the fingers of his mech to be sheared off by an invisible spatial force the moment it made contact with the gap.

“Warning, warning, the mech has lost control due to cheating, damage exceeding 30%.” The mech’s alarm system suddenly turned on.

Sheng Heng looked at the screen, and only then did he notice that the left shoulder of the mech had been sheared off completely.

When the spatial corridor collapsed moments before, the Zerg Emperor, due to its massive size with nowhere to hide, was instantly dismembered, while his mech, because it was smaller and upright in the corridor, only lost half a shoulder.

“Good thing it didn’t reach the energy block cabin, otherwise it would have been something else.” Sheng Heng breathed a silent sigh of relief.

“Warning, warning, an incalculable powerful force has appeared up ahead, swift and immediate evasion is advised.” The mech’s alarm system sounded again.

Incalculable powerful force, was it referring to the space-time exit? Indeed, the space-time exit was a combination of the forces of time and space, something that the Federation’s technology couldn’t calculate yet, and it had been opened by the Zerg Emperor’s mental energy.

Wait a minute…..

Opened by mental energy.

Sheng Heng’s breath halted, then he stared at the exit that was getting closer and closer in front of him then without time to think deeply, his mental energy surged out from his sea of consciousness and clung onto the spatial corridor.

From the moment he entered the spatial corridor, he had been following the Zerg Emperor’s mental energy that had been clinging to the corridor to finally catch up with the Zerg Emperor, so he was clear on just how the Zerg Emperor’s mental energy was distributed within the corridor. He didn’t know how to use mental energy to open a corridor, so he could only act out of desperation, drawing out all of the Zerg Emperor’s mental energy from the distribution points he remembered.

And as his mental energy spread out along the damaged corridor towards the gap, a miraculous scene unfolded. An invisible space-time force suddenly extended the broken corridor at the gap, then the corridor, following the spread of Sheng Heng’s mental energy, continued to extend longer and longer while at the same time, Sheng Heng’s sea of consciousness suddenly began to resonate with this piece of space-time force.

This resonance was like a bell sound from the ancient times, so distant and profound that one couldn’t help but be immersed in it. Sheng Heng closed his eyes subconsciously, then began to feel it in detail.

There was no telling how much time had passed when Sheng Heng opened his eyes again, then a long corridor appeared in front of him, filled with his mental energy.

“Warning, warning……. danger resolved.” His mech’s alarm system was also turned off.

Sheng Heng looked through the screen towards the place he had fallen from. There was still an exit, very close, so close that he could even see the space beyond through it. He suddenly became curious, wanting to take a closer look, to see if there was another space-time or another civilization behind that exit. However he held back in the end.

He didn’t dare.

Because just now, he had understood how to use mental energy to open a spatial corridor, and so knew the power and mystery of this ability, in that even though there were many space-time gates within the spatial corridor, not every space-time gate could be crossed. The exits of each space-time gate possessed powerful spatial and temporal forces that, if the person entering didn’t have a strong enough mental energy, they would instantly be turned into ash by these two forces.

And with this, he finally understood why the Zerg Emperor had been fleeing within the spatial corridor for so long and why even though it encountered numerous space-time exits, it didn’t escape. It wasn’t that it didn’t want to escape, it was that it wasn’t sure if it had the ability to pass through the space-time gates. Otherwise it would have just picked any of the gates to jump out of to evade his pursuit.

“The closer one is to the place they came in from, the weaker the space-time force.” Sheng Heng thought to himself as he maneuvered his mech to start moving forward along the spatial corridor.

The spatial corridor was suspended in a void, and this void had no direction, no before and after, no left or right, only a long, winding corridor and gates, lots and lots of space-time gates, so Sheng Heng could only walk forward along this corridor passively, and then from those space-time gates, search for the one that belonged to the Federation.

Thus, trying gate after gate, Sheng Heng couldn’t remember how many gates he had passed through. The only thing he could be certain of was that he had passed through far more gates than he had passed on his way here, however he still couldn’t find the one that belonged to the Federation.

Was it because he had used the mental energy in the wrong way? Which was why the direction of the spatial corridor was wrong?

“Growl.”

Sheng Heng clutched his stomach, however he didn’t reach for the stored nutrient solution. He looked at the time. It had been three days since he entered the spatial corridor. The nutrient solution stored inside the mech was enough for seven days, however he decided to economize, unsure when he would be able to walk out of the spatial corridor.

“It’s been so long, they must think I’m dead by now. Xiao Hao….. must have cried, right?” Sheng Heng’s heart turned sour as he thought of the last call he had made to Yan Hao.

He didn’t know why he called at that critical moment. He should have been preoccupied with other matters, yet he did it anyway with only one thought in his mind: to say goodbye to Yan Hao.

[Senior, you can do it.]

“I can do it.” I can go back.

Sheng Heng cheered up then continued to pilot his mech forward, setting a deadline for himself: on the third day after the nutrient solutions and supplies ran out, he would have to exit through one of the time-space gates.
