Chapter 167.2 Two in one
Editor: Jodi
“The War God.” What Sheng Heng was holding was the spiritual symbol of their War God Legion, the level ten mech War God, “Father knew your mech was damaged in battle, so he specifically asked me to bring the War God.”
“Is this… okay?”
“Father said, the War God was born to guard the Federation, and now is the time when the Federation needs him.” Sheng Heng said.
Unable to hold back any longer, General Yun quickly walked halfway round the conference room to Sheng Heng’s side.
And smiling, Sheng Heng placed the War God in General Yun’s palm: “General, the War God is just being lent to you, so please return it after this war ends.”
“Of course.” General Yun burst into hearty laughter, suddenly taking a liking to this junior who knew how to talk. After the war ends, didn’t that mean that the Federation would have won? By then he would have plenty of time to repair his Waves and wouldn’t need to hog the Sheng Family’s War God.
Yu Xiu Yuan watched this scene, then turned his gaze to a refined looking middle-aged man who was sitting on his left. He, besides General Xiao and General Yun, was the Federation’s third level ten mech warrior, Feng Ming.
Feng Ming understood Marshal Yu’s look and so didn’t beat around the bush, saying directly, “Even if the Federation needs to preserve its strength, it should be the strength of the younger generation. I’m already of age and so naturally shouldn’t occupy this position.”
With the three level ten warriors and one level eight mimetic warrior all stating their positions, Marshal Yu no longer hesitated as he ordered immediately, “Alright, then to battle!”
Then the group spent half an hour devising a method to eliminate the three mutated zergs. Currently, these three zergs were located in two places, hence they decided to k*ll one of them first.
Previously, it had taken the combined effort of Generals Yun and Xiao to barely kll one, so this time they planned to send three people to surround and kll this mutated zerg, and these three were General Xiao, Feng Ming, and Sheng Heng. Bringing Sheng Heng was mainly to test ‘Victory’s’ performance, and if Victory’s performance had really reached the level of a level ten mech, then they could k*ll the remaining two cyan zergs together. Otherwise, they would have to find a way to separate the two mutated zergs.
After the meeting, the trio boarded the warship to depart. During wartime, every second’s delay meant sacrifices, and with each person the zergs consumed, they grew stronger, hence they had to be fast.
“Make it quick, I can’t wait to k*ll the other two mutated zergs.” General Yun said to the three before departure.
He wasn’t participating in this operation because he had just received the War God and so needed time to break it in.
The warship took off, flying through the atmosphere and into space, towards the location of the mutated zergs, and about an hour later, it reached its destination– the outer region of a minor planet where countless pitch-black zergs were flying in neat formations toward the star region. And in front of them, were the Federation’s mechs and warships, ready for battle.
For such a minor planet, if it were only ordinary zergs, then there might still be a fighting chance. However if there was a mutated zerg among the swarm, then all resistance would be in vain.
As the warship approached the swarm, a cyan colored zerg that was flying slowly among them suddenly turned its head to look over.
“Fire!” General Xiao commanded immediately.
And with a roar, a dazzling beam of white light pierced through the swarm, clearing a large area immediately.
The advancing movement of the swarm stopped for a moment, then all the zergs turned towards the warship, adjusted their direction, then swarm over.
“Keep firing, don’t stop.” General Xiao turned to Sheng Heng and Feng Ming, “Let’s go.”
The trio turned together then walked towards the hatch, and as they walked, General Xiao briefed Sheng Heng, “Mutated zergs can lock onto our position based on mental energy fluctuations, so a surprise attack is nearly impossible. Don’t leave anything to chance, k*lling them can only be done by facing it head on.”
“Understood.”
As they spoke, the three had already arrived at the hatch, then they each summoned their mech, then as soon as the hatch opened, flew out together. The moment Sheng Heng flew out, he drew his Obscure Darkness Lance, leading the charge towards the dense swarm of zergs, and just as General Xiao was about to remind him to not be reckless, he saw the dense swarm suddenly panic as they started to dodge as Sheng Heng, or rather ‘Victory’, approached.
The azure blue mech was like a blue flame as it cut through the impenetrable darkness fiercely, heading straight for the mutated zerg.
“Holy shit, what kind of operation is that!” General Xiao shouted in awe as he maneuvered his mech to follow behind closely.
“It should be mental energy suppression.” Feng Ming said, “Just like how high level zergs suppress our mech warriors who have low level mental energy, Sheng Heng is doing the reverse, suppressing the zergs.”
“F*ck, we all have S level mental energy, so why is his so bullish?” General Xiao expressed that he couldn’t believe it.
“I heard from a senior pharmacist that S level is the highest level that can be measured by current instruments, but that it doesn’t mean that S level is the highest level of mental energy.” Feng Ming told him.
“Then what exactly is this kid’s level? Super S level?”
“It might also be because he was born with S level mental energy, while the two of us are inferior products who awakened later in life.”
“I don’t like the term ‘inferior products’.” General Xiao, who had been an elite all his life, was uncomfortable.
“Then let’s just say he has super S level mental energy.”
As they were speaking, the trio had already reached the mutated zerg, surrounded by countless swarms of zergs.
“Sheng Heng, be careful, the mutated zerg has its eyes on you.” General Xiao warned.
From the moment the three of them had started approaching, the mutated zerg’s gaze had been fixed on Sheng Heng, just as human warriors would lock onto a level nine zerg the moment it appeared.
This was Sheng Heng’s first time meeting a mutated zerg, and on the way here, General Xiao had briefed him on several differences between mutated zergs and level nine zergs, such as them being smarter, more oppressive, and more agile in their reactions.
Sheng Heng wasn’t sure about their intelligence or agility, however he didn’t feel oppressed. He could sense the mutated zerg using its mental energy to observe him, however this mental force didn’t pose any threat to him.
My mental energy is stronger than its.
“Since it’s focused on me, I’ll go first.” And saying this, he swung his lance, transforming into a streak of blue light as he charged towards the mutated zerg.
And surprised to see him rush forward immediately, General Xiao and Feng Ming followed behind quickly, one in front and one behind to support him. With three mechs deployed today, any loss would be a disservice to the uniforms they were wearing.
“So fast!”
Even though there was still some distance to the mutated zerg and Sheng Heng had been the first to fly out, they had only been a second or two behind him, however in just a blink of an eye, Sheng Heng had already pulled away from them by a not-so-short distance, showing that his mech was much faster than theirs.
In the distance, Sheng Heng had already swung his Obscure Darkness Lance out, and the intense mental energy fluctuations that came from it made the mutated zerg anxious and restless, causing it to lift its sharp tail hook up, lashing it towards ‘Victory’s’ hand that was holding the lance.
The tail hook and claws of mutated zergs were extremely sharp, capable of penetrating the armor of a level ten mech, and so Sheng Heng, afraid that Victory would be damaged, didn’t dodge immediately and instead shifted his position subtly, only moving just a tiny distance, enough to avoid the mutated zerg’s attack while advancing a step forward.
The mutated zerg seemed to have not expected that its opponent would close the distance while dodging its attack, a maneuver it had never seen in humans before, and sensing danger, it retreated rapidly.
How could Sheng Heng let it escape? Just as the massive body of the mutated zerg began to pull away, he suddenly extended his arm then held the tail hook that it hadn’t retracted yet firmly.
The mutated zerg let out a silent hiss, then unleashed a powerful burst of mental energy, causing General Xiao and Feng Ming who had just come close to immediately activate their mental defenses, however their movements still slowed down a little. The mutated zerg thought Sheng Heng would also be slowed down by its mental attack for a moment, however to its surprise, Sheng Heng didn’t even frown for a moment as his other hand also grabbed the tail hook, then using force, pulled it back violently.
And losing its balance, the mutated zerg flew straight towards Sheng Heng who raised his hand calmly, then thrusting his Obscure Darkness Lance forward, pierced through its unguarded eye then withdrew it quickly.
And immediately, dark green slime exploded in the air, and screeching as it roared madly, every attack-capable part of the mutated zerg lashed out wildly.
The expression on Sheng Heng’s face remained unchanged as he maneuvered his mech coolly to dodge the mutated zerg’s every attack, closing in on its abdomen continually. This scene left the two level ten mech warriors who were beside him dumbfounded. However they were both veterans of the battlefield, and so came back to their sense immediately then activated their long-range weapons to attack the mutated zerg, creating opportunities for Sheng Heng.
The mutated zerg, was worthy of being a newly evolved species, because as it had significantly higher intelligence than ordinary zergs, it quickly realized the danger approaching its abdomen and coiled up immediately, attempting to retreat. However where would Sheng Heng give it the chance? As the mutated zerg’s mental energy swept over, Sheng Heng countered it fiercely. He had been holding his mental energy attack back, just for this very moment.
Sheng Heng’s potent mental energy reverberated back along the mutated zerg’s mental trajectory, causing its brain to blank out instantly, its eyes glazing over for a moment as its body also froze. And Sheng Heng, had been waiting for this moment.
His mech, transforming into a streak of blue light, spun then positioned itself at the weak spot of the mutated zerg’s abdomen, and then his Obscure Darkness Lance, not showing any mercy, stabbed straight in as it flashed with purple lightning, then as if afraid that this strike alone wouldn’t k*ll the mutated zerg, he activated the heavy energy particle cannon on his shoulder at the same time then blasted away at its weak spot crazily.
General Xiao and Feng Ming just stood in place, watching as the cyan zerg, that was comparable to the size of a warship was pierced through thoroughly under Sheng Heng’s crazy bombardment.
The shells of zergs were so hard that ordinary weapons couldn’t pierce through them, however that was when they were alive. Once they died, the strength of their body would begin to diminish.
Hence Sheng Heng’s barrage, blew the body of the mutated zerg up completely.
“Although this is very brutal, I really f*cking like it!” General Xiao punched the cabin wall of his mech fiercely, his tone filled with envy.
“This is a mimetic mech?” Feng Ming’s eyes also had the same envy in it.
