Chapter 166.2 Publicizing the mimetic mech

Editor: Jodi

Yan Hao waited for him to finish before asking, “There’s a shortage in mechs outside right now, right?”

“Yes, but for the time being there’s only a shortage of high level mechs, especially those above level eight.” Actually, there was always a shortage of high level mechs, however it had become particularly acute during wartime.

“Then take Rebirth and assign it to someone suitable.” Yan Hao told him.

“Oh, okay.” Then Di Ya froze, his head jerking up as he looked at Yan Hao in stunned disbelief. “What did you just say?”

“Rebirth, give it to someone who needs it.” Yan Hao repeated, pointing towards Rebirth.

“Has something happened to Sheng Heng?” Thinking of this possibility, Di Ya jumped out of his chair in fear.

Operating a mimetic mech was much easier than operating a traditional mech, and almost any random mech warrior could get the hang of it. However, not just any mech warrior could match Sheng Heng’s skills, and even if they could, they definitely wouldn’t have his level of mental energy, and now that the mutated zergs hadn’t been eradicated completely, the base being able to hold on until now under the zerg tide was largely because of Sheng Heng’s S level mental energy.

“No, don’t get excited.” Yan Hao jumped up as well, realizing that he had misunderstood as he explained to him hurriedly, “It’s that Senior doesn’t need this mech anymore. I brought him a new one when I was coming.”

“A more…. advanced mimetic mech?” Di Ya asked, trembling slightly.

The performance of Rebirth was already close to that of a traditional level nine mech, so if Yan Hao could make an even more advanced mimetic mech, then what level would it reach? Level ten? Or even beyond that?

He was also a mech builder, and the first day that he learned that mimetic mechs existed, he had been looking forward to seeing such a mech. Was this wish coming true now?

“En.” Yan Hao nodded gently under Di Ya’s intense gaze.

“Really?!” Di Ya grabbed his arm, his face flushed red with excitement, “Is it level seven or eight? How is its performance? Can I see it? No, now’s not the time to research this. We need to focus on the repairs first. I’ll see it later, there will be a chance later, yes, later…”

Di Ya’s whole person had become somewhat incoherent.

“What did you just say? Rebirth, you’re giving Rebirth to me to allocate, right?” After his excitement, Di Ya finally regained his composure.

“Yes, you can help it find a new pilot.”

“I can’t make this decision. You don’t know how many people in the base are coveting Rebirth, so it would be best if I report it and let the higher-ups decide.” Then he added, “I’ll send a report to the General Admiral right now.”

The allocating of mechs that were above level nine usually required General Admiral Sheng convening an internal meeting within the legion to decide, and although Rebirth’s performance wasn’t yet at level nine, its value was far greater than that of a level nine mech.

Yan Hao waited for Di Ya to finish sending General Admiral Sheng the report, then added, “There’s one more thing I need your help with.”

“What are you being polite with me for? Just say it.” Yan Hao had a special status in the War God Legion, hence his requests were almost always granted without the people in the War God Legion needing specific instructions from General Admiral Sheng or Sheng Heng.

“I want to modify a batch of mechs.” Yan Hao told him.

“Modify?” Di Ya frowned subconsciously, “Given the current situation, won’t modifications take too much time?”

Considering the urgency in repairing mechs, where was there time to modify mechs? But what if Yan Hao was insistent on doing research?

Di Ya hesitated, however just before he was about to agree, Yan Hao spoke again, “I know modifications take time, but I believe it’s absolutely necessary.”

“Absolutely necessary?”

“You just said that there’s only a shortage of high level mechs. Why is that?” Yan Hao shared his observation, “It’s because many mech warriors have injured fingers, making it so that even if they have mechs, they can’t pilot them right?”

“Yes.” This issue had become obvious as early as a week ago, however there was nothing they could do about it. They could only hope that the zerg tide would end soon, as if it continued, the Federation would probably lose more than half of its mech warriors to hand injuries.

And it wouldn’t be because the Federation didn’t have warriors or mechs, but that it had mechs that its warriors couldn’t pilot. If the Federation fell because of this, it would simply be too suffocating.

“That’s why I want to modify the mechs, to change all mechs below level six into ones that operate on a mimetic mode.” Yan Hao explained.

“Mimetic? Modify them into mimetic mechs?” Di Ya repeated two times to confirm.

Yan Hao lowered his head, found the document he had prepared on his light brain earlier, then projected it in front of Di Ya, “This is the modification tutorial I made. The level five mimetic system is relatively simple. Level four mech builders and above can follow these instructions to modify low level mechs, and with enough materials, it would only take about a day to modify each one, and if we work in a streamlined manner, we can reduce the time even further.”

Di Ya was already not listening to what he was saying, his eyes having long been glued to the instruction manual Yan Hao had projected.

Simple, too simple, so simple that it didn’t even look anything at all like a modification manual for a mimetic mech, because Yan Hao hadn’t delved into the principles of the mimetic system in the entire manual. Instead, he had simplified them using the most basic concepts as well as added detailed steps, and this approach made it so that the person doing the modification could complete it without needing to understand the complexities of the mimetic system.

“I want you to help me find a group of level four mech builders. I’ll teach them how to modify the mechs on-site, and at the same time we will broadcast it live on Starnet.” Yan Hao told him.
