Chapter 165.1 Proposal gift
Editor: Jodi
Since Yan Hao was still a student and still in school, Sheng Heng was always very protective of his mech, afraid that a careless mistake would make it difficult to repair. However, no matter how much effort was put into protecting a battle mech, it would still get damaged. Sheng Heng’s mech had always been repaired by Di Ya, the head of the War God Legion’s Mech Building Department. Di Ya was a level nine mech builder, and although he couldn’t grasp the mimetic system within Rebirth fully, he could however ensure that it wasn’t damaged.
After Yan Hao inspected Rebirth, he found that its external parts had mostly been repaired, and that there were a few parts in the internal system that weren’t running smoothly, however this wasn’t because of a system collapse. Instead, it was because certain key parts had been installed incorrectly, and this incorrectness, was because of the differences between mimetic mechs and traditional mechs and not because there was a mistake in Di Ya’s assembly.
He adjusted the system, tweaked the radar’s sensitivity, then walked out of the cockpit.
“How is it? Did I damage anything?” This time in the battle that Sheng Heng had fought, it had been one against three, and so his mech had suffered more damage than ever before, and although Di Ya was very confident in his skills, this was a mimetic mech after all, hence he wasn’t fully certain he could repair it well.
“No, you repaired it better than I could.” Yan Hao told him.
“Nonsense.” Di Ya knew Yan Hao was complimenting him, however he was still very happy to hear it. “As long as it’s not damaged, that’s good. Now that all the level nine mechs have gone out, General Admiral Sheng needs to command the battle, so Sheng Heng is our only high-end combat force now. I was terrified when Rebirth broke down. Right, how’s Sheng Heng? Has he woken up?”
“Not yet, but he should wake up by tomorrow in the afternoon.” Yan Hao told him.
“That’s good, that’s good.”
Just then, the door to the work room was pushed open, then Di Ya’s assistant appeared in the doorway, reporting to him anxiously: “Senior Colonel, another Level 8 mech has been delivered outside. There’s a problem with its core and they can’t fix it. They need you to take a look.”
“Towed back from space? What about the pilot?” Di Ya asked.
The assistant shook his head.
Di Ya’s expression darkened, then without asking anymore questions, he turned to Yan Hao and said, “I’ll go check it out.”
“Oh, okay.” Yan Hao took the toolbox from the assistant, then while he was disassembling the parts, he thought back to the conversation between Di Ya and his assistant just now.
The assistant’s shaking of his head earlier, did it mean that the owner of the mech had been sacrificed? A Level 8 mech, it definitely had to be a battle-hardened warrior.
Rebirth had almost been repaired fully by Di Ya, so Yan Hao spent just another two hours correcting the previously misaligned parts, then completed the thorough maintenance of the mech.
Then lifting his eyes, he glanced at the time. It was one o’clock in the morning.
“Master Yan Hao, do you want to eat something first? There’s a late-night snack delivered from the cafeteria outside, should I get you a box?” Assistant Xiao Wei asked, looking up.
“There’s no need, I’ll eat when I go back.” Yan Hao had been maintaining a regular schedule these past two years, however because he had been worried about Sheng Heng, he didn’t sleep much on the spaceship to this place, and so at this time, overcome with sleepiness, he struggled to stay alert.
“Alright, then I’ll escort you out.” Xiao Wei said in response.
Yan Hao came down from the lift ladder: “Should we put Rebirth away?”
“There’s no need, this room is specifically for repairing Level 9 mechs, and now, it’s only the General Admiral’s Level 9 mech that’s in the base, so just leave it here, there’s no need to clear space.” Xiao Wei told him. “Or if you want, you can put it away and take it to Captain Sheng Heng.”
“No, let it stay here.” Mechs that were placed in the maintenance room had to be retrieved by their pilots themselves. That was the rule, and Yan Hao didn’t want to break it casually.
And seeing Yan Hao preparing to leave, Xiao Wei stepped forward to open the door of the work room and immediately, a wave of noise rushed in.
Outside was the repair area for Level 7 and 8 mechs, and although it was already past midnight, the number of people there hadn’t decreased, and Yan Hao, standing in the doorway, quickly scanned the area and noticed that the batch of mechs currently undergoing repairs were different from those he had seen when he’d first arrived.
“Make way, make way.”
As Yan Hao walked out, an assistant pushing a cart full of various parts rushed past him. The cart brushed against him, and if it wasn’t because he had stepped aside in time, it would have hit him.
“Master Yan Hao, are you alright? I’m so sorry, the maintenance area has been really busy these days. Please don’t mind it.” Xiao Wei apologized hurriedly.
“I’m fine. Have you been this busy recently?”
“Ever since the zerg tide began, we’ve been this busy. Many of the masters haven’t gone home to sleep for several days.” Xiao Wei sighed.
“But that’s nothing compared to what the soldiers on the front lines are going through. We just can’t sleep, but they…..”
Xiao Wei didn’t finish his sentence, but Yan Hao understood. Many of them hadn’t come back.
“Xiao Wei, please help me get some late-night snacks.” Yan Hao stopped in his tracks.
“Huh?”
“I’m hungry.”
“Okay.”
Xiao Wei run to get Yan Hao a late-night snack, and Yan Hao finished it hurriedly in three to four bites then went straight to a mech that had just arrived.
“I’ll fix this one.”
No one in the War God Legion doubted Yan Hao’s mech skills even though he was still a student. Especially after Sheng Heng had manoeuvred Rebirth to kill three Level 9 zergs five days ago. How could a master who was capable of making a powerful mech like Rebirth struggle with repairing a Level 8 mech?
Yan Hao stayed in the maintenance room until noon the next day, only leaving when his alarm reminded him. He had set the alarm the day before to remind him to visit Sheng Heng when he woke up.
And leaving the maintenance room, he drove the hover car to the hospital.
Then getting out of the car, he saw five to six people entering the hospital, each emitting a familiar medicinal scent. It was the lingering smell of fingers that had been soaked in the little cutie herbal packets.
Their hands were injured?
He looked subconsciously at the hands of the people in front of him, then saw that each of them had their fingers bandaged.
