Chapter 164.1 Sheng Heng is injured
Editor: Jodi
Thirty-nine hours later, the spaceship entered the starfield around Planet S36, then a voice from the cockpit sounded through the broadcast: “There are obstacles ahead, so the spaceship will experience turbulence for a while. Everyone, please return to your seats and fasten your seatbelts.”
“Obstacles? What kind of obstacles can there be in space?”
“Is it a meteorite belt?”
“Impossible, the Federation wouldn’t set a flight path near a meteorite belt.”
The students discussed amongst themselves, feeling that the announcement was a bit odd. However the moment they turned to look out the window, the inside of the spaceship fell silent.
They saw countless mech wrecks, big and small, some still retaining their general shapes, others covered in the sticky mucus of zergs, and as the spaceship moved forward, these mech wrecks slid past the windows. There were also zerg corpses, some with their front claws still embedded in mechs, their ferocious appearance transporting one’s mind into the midst of battle, making it easy to imagine how these zergs had pierced the mechs, killing the warriors inside.
And for an entire hour, the students on the spaceship stared at this wreckage, as it took a full hour to traverse this battlefield. They were en route to reinforce the frontline, and before arriving, they had imagined what the battlefield would look like and had even seen images on Starnet. However being here in person, they realized that their imaginations had been too limited.
A mech was a warrior’s weapon and a warrior’s armor, and on such a battlefield as this one, once a mech was damaged, the survival rate of its mech warrior was less than 1%. And in this starry space that was filled with wreckage, each piece of mech had their blood on it. And this was just the tip of the iceberg.
“Beginning descent now.”
By the time the spaceship stabilized again, it had already entered the atmosphere of Planet S36, and so began its descent, and two minutes later, it landed smoothly at the port of Planet S36, and the moment the cabin door opened, the students walked out in silence.
And outside the spaceship, were neatly arranged rows of warships, with various models that they had only seen in textbooks, however these warships weren’t as pristine as the ones they had seen in the textbooks. They were pitted, their exteriors covered with scratches and stains.
“Xiao Hao.” A voice that Yan Hao found somewhat familiar suddenly came from outside the crowd.
And after staring at the young man who had called his name for a while, Yan Hao called out hesitantly, “Senior Cheng?”
“Xiao Hao, you’re finally here.” Cheng Wenkang run over excitedly to pull him out.
“Senior Cheng, it’s really you.” Even though he had already established the identity of the person standing in front of him, Yan Hao was still somewhat hesitant. The young man in front of him was tall and upright, and although he was still more robust than the average person, he really didn’t look anything like the chubby Senior Cheng from before.
“Cheng Wenkang?” He Shao, who had also followed Yan Hao over, was also shocked, “Why have you lost so much weight?”
“Is the change that drastic?”
“More than drastic, it feels like you’ve lost an entire me.” He Shao didn’t hide his surprise, “It’s only been a year, right?”
“There have been a lot more missions in this past year, and every time I go out I can only eat nutrient fluid, so it’s impossible to not lose weight.” Cheng Wenkang smiled good-naturedly.
“Senior Cheng, where’s Senior?” Not seeing Sheng Heng’s figure around, Yan Hao couldn’t help but ask, “Is he out on a mission?”
“Heng Ge is injured.” Cheng Wenkang told him.
“What?! Where is he hurt, is it serious, where is he now?” Yan Hao asked anxiously, his eyes filled with worry.
He Shao’s heart jumped as well.
“Don’t panic first, it’s just mental energy exhaustion. The pharmacist has already prepared medicine, so he’ll be fine after a few days of rest.” Cheng Wenkang explained hurriedly.
“Really?”
“I came just to take you to him.” Cheng Wenkang told him, “Heng Ge hasn’t woken up yet, and Big Brother Sheng Zhuo can’t leave his post, and knowing that you were coming today, he asked me to come pick you up.”
“He Shao, come over and line up for roll call.” Someone in the crowd called out to He Shao.
“Alright. I’m going over first.” He Shao told the two of them, then run back to join the queue.
Yan Hao looked at his classmates who had already split into squads, hesitating between going for the roll call or going to see Sheng Heng first.
“You’re not with them.” Cheng Wenkang, noticing his dilemma, opened his mouth, “They will be sent to Maintenance room 3 to assist other mech builders in repairing mechs below level 6. You’ve been assigned to Maintenance room 1, where Rebirth is kept, and after going to the hospital, you can go to Maintenance room 1.”
“Then let’s go.” Yan Hao was anxious to see Sheng Heng.
