Chapter 132.2 Eldest Senior Brother, don’t be afraid
Editor: Jodi
On the plane, Cong Yi briefly and quickly explained the current situation to Yan Hao. “The Tianhe One warship was imported 25 years ago but has never been used since. Plus, Z Star Planet has been peaceful for the past century, hence the Z Star Planet government hasn’t paid much attention to Tianhe One warship. I also only found out just now that Z Star Planet hasn’t conducted maintenance for Tianhe One for five years, so we have no idea where the problem lies.”
Tianhe One warship was a star-level weapon that could save the planet, and due to its highly sophisticated technology, it required annual maintenance by specialists sent by the Federation. However each maintenance session was costly, hence Z Star Planet may have tried to save money by skipping on the regular maintenance. Unfortunately, they didn’t anticipate the consequences even though money had been saved.
“Little junior brother, you’ve been studying under Old Pang at the Federal University. Have you ever worked with the technology of Tianhe One warship?” Cong Yi asked.
“Master has taught me some weaponry, but I’ve never worked with the Tianhe One warship.” Yan Hao shook his head.
Hearing this, Cong Yi’s eyebrows furrowed immediately.
Not having worked with Tianhe One warship, Yan Hao wasn’t in a much better position than he was, and there was even a chance that he might be less skilled than he was. He had at least repaired several mecha battleships, so he could be considered to have some experience. It couldn’t be that he had led Yan Hao into a death situation, right?
As Cong Yi was thinking whether he should find a way to send Yan Hao away while there was still a chance, the terminal of his light brain was accessed forcefully once again.
“Colonel Cong Yi, is Yan Hao with you?”
As the voice echoed through the terminal of his light brain, Yan Hao shouted in surprised joy, “Master!”
The person on the other end of the call was none other than Old Pang, the designer of the Tianhe One warship.
“Xiao Hao, why couldn’t I reach you through your communicator?” Old Pang asked him.
“The terminal of my light brain is broken.” Yan Hao answered him.
Old Pang’s eyebrows furrowed, however he knew that there wasn’t much time to spare so he didn’t press further and went straight to the point. “Xiao Hao, I just sorted out a few places on the warship that are most likely to have problems, and I’ve already sent the information to the Z Star Planet military fortress, so after you arrive, follow the guidelines I provided and inspect accordingly.”
“Yes.” Yan Hao nodded.
“Although I haven’t had the chance to teach you about warship-type weapons, I’ve already imparted all the basics to you. Xiao Hao, you’re the most outstanding student I’ve ever had. I believe you can fix the warship.” Old Pang said loudly, as if by saying it loudly enough, his words would come true.
During their conversation, the plane had already reached the nearest harbour. They disembarked from the plane then transferred to an airship bound for the space fortress. Approximately ten minutes later, the airship landed at the space fortress and Colonel Cang Yan came out to welcome them personally, leading them to the deck where the Tianhe One warship was parked.
“Lieutenant Colonel Cong Yi, Master Yan Hao.” Although Yan Hao still looked to be a teenager, at this moment, he was the only one capable of repairing the Tianhe One warship, so he deserved the title ‘Master’. “Based on the latest calculations, we have about twelve hours until the zergs open the spatial passage completely. So, you have only twelve hours.”
Yan Hao didn’t reply, instead, he entered the interior of the warship and activated the control system.
“Colonel, we’ll do our best.” Cong Yi replied hurriedly before following him inside.
When Cong Yi entered, he saw Yan Hao tapping continuously on the keyboard on the warship’s control panel, and not sure what he was doing, walked over to urge him, “We only have twelve hours left, and there are a total of six suggested approaches from Old Pang. We need to start right away.”
“Let’s not rush first.” Yan Hao told him.
This situation didn’t require haste, because if the warship couldn’t be repaired within twelve hours, the entire planet would be destroyed.
“Let me first understand the structure of the warship.” As Yan Hao said this, he pressed a key on the keyboard, and a virtual screen immediately displayed an internal diagram of the warship. Old Pang had explained some of the warship’s design principles briefly during their hurried conversation on the airship, however the time was too short for Yan Hao to form a clear concept, hence he needed to review the structural diagram.
Yan Hao stared at the diagram for more than ten minutes and then tapped the keyboard a few times to access the warship’s weapon firing system.
“Space cannon activated.” A mechanical electronic voice suddenly sounded from inside the cockpit, revealing Yan Hao’s current action.
Activated? Cong Yi looked subconsciously at Yan Hao just in time to see his hand pressing a red button— the launch button for the Tianhe One warship’s weapons.
“Charging up started!” The mechanical electronic voice sounded again.
“Little Junior Brother, what are you doing?!” Cong Yi was about to have a heart attack. This was a space cannon, how could he just activate it casually.
“Charging up failed!” Cong Yi had just finished yelling when the mechanical electronic voice followed up.
Failed? Fortunately it failed. It had scared the hell out of him. They were inside the fortress, so randomly activating a weapon could blow up their base.
“Little Junior Brother, how can you just press the launch button casually?” Cong Yi asked sternly.
“Eldest Senior Brother, don’t be afraid. The space cannon is broken, it can’t fire.” Yan Hao comforted him.
“…” It seemed, indeed, that that was the case. If the space cannon wasn’t broken, the warship would have gone to attack the spatial passage long ago. Otherwise why would there be a need for the two of them to be standing here? But still, this was a star-level weapon.
Cong Yi had just breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Yan Hao’s hand pressing the launch button once again.
“!!!” Cong Yi.
“Charging up started.”
“Charging up failed.”
“Charging up started.”
“Charging up failed.”
Inside the cockpit, the mechanical electronic voice of the system rang out non-stop, and Cong Yi had gone from heart-pounding anxiety at the beginning to watching calmly as Yan Hao pressed the launch button of a star-level weapon like it was a toy repeatedly, doing so dozens of times.
“Okay.” After about half an hour, Yan Hao finally stopped.
“What’s okay?” Cong Yi asked.
“I think I’ve found the problem.” Yan Hao said.
