Chapter 128.2
Editor: Jodi
In the guest room, Sima Mingxuan was in the middle of a conversation with someone, and when he saw Yan Fei enter, he exchange a few words with the person on the other end then hung up.
Yan Fei carried the plate of fruit over immediately, “Mingxuan, try this watermelon. I’ve checked it using my mental energy and there are no impurities inside.”
Sima Mingxuan knocked the fork out of his hand impatiently, demanding coldly under his shocked expression, “What were you playing at with those tricks?”
“What?”
“You know what I’m talking about in your heart. I don’t care how you used your parents to neglect Yan Hao at home in the past, but remember, we came back this time to ask for his help. You’ve been constantly trying to sow discord between him and your mother and keep provoking him. What are you trying to achieve?” Sima Mingxuan looked at him with a condescending expression.
“I haven’t.”
“You haven’t? Then what were you doing just now? Doing bad things with good intentions, or is it that you don’t know that your words will be misunderstood?” Sima Mingxuan sneered, blocking all his excuses.
Yan Fei’s face turned a ghastly pale, feeling the kind of shame where one’s innermost darkness had been scrutinized and exposed. This was how some people were— they clearly harbored dark thoughts but refused to admit them, using deception not only on others but on themselves as well, then when they were suddenly seen through then exposed would feel that they had been accused wrongly.
“All the resources you have now were given by me. If something goes wrong with my sea of consciousness, everything you have will also disappear, including your identity as Master Le’s disciple.” Sima Mingxuan reminded.
Yan Fei trembled. He couldn’t afford to lose his identity as Master Le’s disciple. Master Le was one of the Federation’s top five Master Pharmacists, and ever since becoming his disciple, his status had risen in both school and in the military department. Even his school mentor, Professor Sun, now treated him more politely and the Research Institute at school that he had been trying to get into had extended an olive branch to him. It was just that what he was learning with Master Le in the military was far more advanced, making it so that he had already lost interest in that small Research Institute.
This long-lost feeling of being in the limelight, he didn’t want to lose it again.
“My mom has already agreed to talk to Yan Hao.” Yan Fei told him.
“She’s promised? How did you phrase it?” Sima Mingxuan instantly became nervous.
Yan Fei immediately recounted the conversation he had just had with his mother downstairs to Sima Mingxuan, causing Sima Mingxuan’s expression to ease gradually as he listened, his eyes at he looked at him becoming a lot more gentle. However he was still uneasy.
“Will your mother really be able to convince him?”
“Don’t worry, it will definitely work.” Yan Fei said confidently.

Master bedroom.
Lu Si Ying looked at the plate of fruit Yan Fei had just brought then after some thought, got up and took it out of the room with her. Then crossing the hallway, arrived at the door of Yan Hao’s room. She seemed somewhat hesitant, standing at the door for a while before finally raising her hand to knock.
With a ‘click’, the door opened, then Yan Hao’s originally somewhat impatient expression turned into surprise when he saw that it was Lu Si Ying who was standing outside.
“Mom.” Yan Hao greeted.
“En.” Suddenly, Lu Si Ying didn’t know what to say. She suddenly realized that she and Yan Hao seemed like strangers, so unfamiliar that she couldn’t even find the right way to start a conversation.
“Please do you need something?” Seeing that she was silent for a long time, Yan Hao took the initiative to ask.
“I… I came to give you a fruit plate and see by the way if your room is organized?” Lu Si Ying said then pushed the door open and walked straight in.
Yan Hao didn’t have time to stop her and didn’t know how to stop her. He could only follow behind passively.
Inside the room, although Yan Hao had changed the bedsheets and opened the window to ventilate the place, there was still a faint mouldy musty smell lingering in the air that emanated from the sofa, bookshelves and the table. The room wasn’t big and was filled with books, however despite this being his room, it felt incomparably unfamiliar to Lu Si Ying.
“I’ll let 00965 help you tidy up a bit.” Lu Si Ying told him.
“There’s no need, I’ve already cleaned up most of it.” Yan Hao replied, walking over to continue wiping the mecha model he had placed on the corner of his desk. After more than a year away, the mecha model was covered with dust, and many of the parts inside had started to malfunction.
Looking at the mecha, Lu Si Ying remembered certain things from the past. “You switched to studying mecha in university, is it because you wanted to continue your childhood hobby?”
“En.” Yan Hao.
Lu Si Ying, in a rare display of wanting to care for him, felt uncomfortable when she noticed his cold and distant attitude, as if he was treating her like a stranger.
“Yan Hao, I’m talking to you.”
“I’m listening.” Yan Hao disassembled one arm of the mecha model carefully, using a brush to clean the dust inside carefully.
“Is this how you listen?” Lu Si Ying put the plate in her hand on the desk heavily with a lot of force, the impact of which caused the other arm of the mecha model to fall.
Yan Hao put the brush down, placed the right arm he was holding together with the left arm that had fallen off in one place then raised his head and said slowly, “If you have something to say, just say it. Suddenly being so concerned about me, I’m not used to it.”
“You…. Could it be that it’s wrong for me to be concerned about you?” Lu Si Ying felt suffocated.
Could it be that it was really simple concern? His mother, Mrs. Lu Si Ying, had suddenly found her conscience?
“If you are concerned about me, thank you.”
Yan Hao’s thank you was like a bucket of gasoline that had been poured on Lu Si Ying’s combustion point: “Yan Hao, watch how you speak.”
Yan Hao’s brows furrowed. Had he said something wrong again just now? Why was she suddenly angry? However compared to her sudden care, he found this angry state comforting instead. “Although I don’t know what I did wrong, if you’re angry, I apologize.”
“Yan Hao!”
Yan Hao looked at his mother with a pair of wide open clear black and white eyes, and in them was obvious confusion, as if asking, ‘What did I do wrong? I really don’t know.’
Lu Si Ying thought about how she had neglected him and tried to suppress her anger, reminding herself continuously that it was she who had ignored him first, and that he was just throwing a tantrum now.
“Eat the fruit.” Lu Si Ying didn’t know how to express her concern for him and so could only push the fruit plate toward him once again.
Yan Hao looked at the fruit plate, didn’t eat it, and instead said again, “Mother coming to see me, it’s because you have something to tell me, right?”
Lu Si Ying hadn’t intended to bring this up given the atmosphere a few moments ago, but now that Yan Hao had taken the initiative to ask, and seeing that he didn’t look unhappy, she opened her mouth, “Mingxuan is Xiao Fei’s fiancé. You know that right?”
“Fiancé?” Wasn’t it after graduating from university that they got engaged?
“A few months ago, Mingxuan got injured protecting the Federation from a level nine zerg on the frontlines and injured his sea of consciousness. Xiao Fei is helping him recover. They’ve already found the right medicine, but it contains too many different medicinal ingredients and Xiao Fei said it will take a long time before they would be able to calculate the correct ratio proportions, but Mingxuan can’t afford to wait. You’ve been good at math since you were small, so why don’t you help with the calculations?”
“I won’t help.” Yan Hao’s refusal rang out almost at the same time as Lu Si Ying’s words fell.
