Chapter 125.2

Editor: Jodi

After a semester of training, Cheng Wenkang’s combat skills had improved significantly, combined with an advancement in his mental energy level, so taking advantage of the break, he followed Sheng Heng to the War God Legion through the back door, intending to gain experience. He Shao, on the other hand, bought a ticket in advance and was ready to return to his hometown.

After seeing off the three, Yan Hao returned to the school in the afternoon, planning to pack his luggage in the dorm then report to Old Zhong’s Mech Research Institute in advance. Originally, he had intended to go there three days later, since Sheng Heng had said he would stay at the school for a week, so having calculated the timing, had planned to go there after Sheng Heng left. However now that Sheng Heng left early, there was no need for him to linger at the school.

After tidying up his things, Yan Hao was about to close the door when his communicator suddenly buzzed, displaying a doorbell icon.

It was a door access alert; someone was looking for him.

The dorm building at the Federal University had a special access system where outsiders couldn’t get into the dorms, but they could use the access system at the entrance to call a specific dorm room, and after calling, the access system would automatically connect to the student’s communicator using the local network.

Using the local network was a way to limit the scope. The access system could only connect to the student’s communicator when the student was inside the dorm room. Once the student left the dorm, the access system wouldn’t bother them.

Who could it be?

Although Yan Hao was confused, he answered the access call and immediately, a video image appeared before him.

It was a woman, around thirty-something years old with a pretty face with her head tilted, a touch of impatience on her face, frowning as she looked at the camera.

“Yan Hao.” The woman’s cold voice echoed the moment she noticed that the video had connected, “Open the door.”

Yan Hao blinked, not activating the dorm’s access system.

“Yan Hao, open the door!” The impatience in the woman’s tone grew, visible anger on her face.

His fingers trembling, Yan Hao opened the door access unconsciously.

Instantly, the image from the video disappeared and after a moment, the sound of high heels clicking on the floor came from outside the door.

Yan Hao had just been holding his luggage about to leave, and the door was already open, so when the woman walked over, what she saw was Yan Hao standing at the doorway with his luggage.

Causing the woman, who had been a bit impatient, to ease up when she saw this. “All packed? Good, come with me.”

Yan Hao didn’t move.

“What, do you have any conditions?” The woman asked.

“What are you doing here? Mother.” Yan Hao looked at the woman standing by the door then called out after a long time.

That’s right, the woman in front of him was indeed his and Yan Fei’s mother, Mrs. Lu Si Ying. The days after his rebirth were so different from the previous life that Yan Hao had almost forgotten that he had a mother.

“What’s wrong, you’re not happy to see me?” A strange emotion surged in Lu Si Ying’s heart as she looked at Yan Hao. She felt that Yan Hao was different now, however she couldn’t quite pinpoint how.

“How come you’re here?” In the previous life, their parents had come to Capital Star for the first time for his and Yan Fei’s graduation ceremony. Of course, attending his graduation was just by chance, as they had come to attend Yan Fei’s graduation.

“I happened to be on Capital Star for business talks and it coincides with your break, so I came to pick both of you up to go home.” Lu Si Ying explained patiently.

“Pick me up? Go home?”

“Let’s go.” Lu Si Ying said, turning away.

Yan Hao still didn’t move.

Pausing, Lu Si Ying turned to look at him. “After making a scene and disturbing for over a year, it’s time to stop.”

Making a scene, what a familiar line. In the past, he did often make a scene at home, comparing himself to Yan Fei in every way. But in this past year or so after his rebirth, what had he made a scene about?

“What have I made a scene about?” Yan Hao asked.

“What have you made a scene about? Changing your major without telling us, cutting off contact with home, not coming home for three semesters, and you’re asking what you’ve made a scene about?” Lu Si Ying’s head throbbed. “You’re almost twenty now. Can’t you stop acting like a three-year-old? Can’t you learn from your little brother and give us some peace of mind?”

“Why is everything I do considered making a scene?” Yan Hao’s tone was calm, his expression even. Anyone who saw Yan Hao’s expression would understand that he was asking this genuinely.

However Lu Si Ying had over a decade of a fixed impression of Yan Hao, and in her mind, Yan Hao was the kind of person who would go to extremes to compete with his little brother for attention, and this fixed impression was extremely difficult to change.

“If you’re not making a scene, then what are you doing?”

“I changed my major because I wanted to study mechs. As for cutting off contact, I think I only blacklisted Yan Fei’s communicator. I didn’t do that with you and dad.”

“Why did you blacklist Xiao Fei’s communicator?” Lu Si Ying knew about this; Yan Fei had talked to her about it more than once and he was very hurt by it.

“Of all the sentences that I just said, your focus is only on the matter of me blacklisting Yan Fei’s communicator?”

“Shouldn’t I focus on it?” Lu Si Ying countered. “You’re brothers, and when you’re out, you should take care of each other. But no, you just had to go and blacklist your own brother’s communicator.”

Yan Hao closed his eyes, feeling familiar exhaustion washing over him again. Every time, every single time, it was like this. As long as the conversations he had with his parents concerned Yan Fei, the logic applied always baffled him.

“What exactly do you want to do?” Yan Hao asked her.

“Come home with me.” Lu Si Ying said again.

“I’m going to study with my Master during this vacation, so I’m afraid I can’t go back.”

“Master? I’d like to see which Master it is that doesn’t allow students to go home for three consecutive semesters.” Lu Si Ying said angrily.

“You…” Yan Hao bit his lip, staring at his mother in disbelief. “Fine, if you’re capable, then come with me.”

The Federal Research Institute wasn’t a place that just anyone could enter. Yan Hao carried his luggage, intending to wait until he arrived at the Federal Research Institute then swipe his card to go in first. As for his mother, as long as he didn’t agree, she wouldn’t be able to get in. And his mother had never had much patience with him, so she would probably leave after a couple of curses at the entrance.

The mother and son descended the stairs one after the other, to where a hover car was parked outside. Lu Si Ying walked to the side of the car then gestured for Yan Hao to get in.

Not suspecting anything, Yan Hao stepped inside, and when he looked up, he saw Yan Fei sitting inside.

“Mom, it’s still you who is powerful. The moment you came, big brother has agreed to go back. I came here several times before, but the access never worked.” Yan Fei said with a bright smile.

Hearing this, Lu Si Ying turned to glare at Yan Hao.

Ignoring her, Yan Hao closed the door of the hover car then said to the driver in the driver’s seat in front, “Driver, can you please go to the Federal Research Institute?”

“The Federal Research Institute? Isn’t big brother coming back with us?” Yan Fei asked.

“He said his Master won’t allow him to leave, and that we have to go in person to ask for permission.” Lu Si Ying told him.

“Auntie, we’ve already bought the spaceship tickets, changing them won’t be that easy, and to ask for permission, you just need to call, so let’s head to the port.”

Shocked, Yan Hao looked up at where the voice was coming from, and right in the driver’s seat at the front, sat Sima Ming Xuan, smiling brightly at him.

Yan Hao thought to himself, ‘not good’, as he reached out to open the door.

“Little junior, the hover car has already started and the doors are locked.” Sima Ming Xuan told him.

Yan Hao lowered his head and tried to make a call, only to find that there was no signal.

  1. Those bastards actually commited a kidnapping in broad daylight?! Bot that I’m surprised by that or their shamelessness in thinking they’re probably doing nothing wrong.
