Chapter 87.1

Editor: Jodi

As the year’s end approached, even if Li Qingzhou and Li Bohuai were reluctant, they still had to part ways for a while.

Liu Bohuai was set to take Liu Xiahui abroad, while Liu Jingyuan’s family had already left early.

And with the company going on holiday, Li Qingzhou planned to take his siblings back to Xicheng.

Liu Bohuai didn’t allow Li Qingzhou go to the airport to see him off.

Otherwise he would immediately abandon his luggage and not want to leave.

However before leaving Yanjing, there was one issue left — the whereabouts of Xu Mengning, the female protagonist of the novel.

She had mostly lost complete contact with the Xu family.

Father and Mother Xu, because of what had happened to Xu Qi Jin, harbored deep resentment towards her and had even called to insult and hurt her.

She had been thinking of repaying the kindness the Xu family had shown by adopting her, but now she didn’t want to return.

Hence as the New Year neared, aside from her rented place in Yanjing, she had nowhere else to go.

Li Qingzhou still had contact with Xu Mengning, however it wasn’t as frequent as it had been before.

He called her to ask if she wanted to join him in Xicheng for the New Year’s celebration as friends.

However she declined with a laugh, telling him that she had already accepted an invitation from Zhao Jingjing.

Xu Mengning told him: “Jingjing’s hometown is in Yuncheng in the south, and the scenery there is incredibly beautiful after it snows. I’ll just treat it like a vacation.”

“Qingzhou, thank you. I’ll bring you some specialities from Yuncheng when I return.”

Li Qingzhou responded over the phone, “Alright, then I wish you a Happy New Year in advance.”

“Happy New Year to you too.” Xu Mengning replied cheerfully.

After hanging up, Li Qingzhou thought about something. He kept on feeling that Xu Mengning seemed much more cheerful than before.

Perhaps without him, this villain, interfering, Xu Mengning and Liu Xiahui’s relationship might have progressed smoothly.

I wonder if they have officially become a couple.

Finally, he sent a message to Liu Bohuai saying he had arrived safely so he would see it after he got off the plane then started packing with his little siblings to leave Yanjing.

Fang Xiyan would drive them back to Xicheng, and then he planned to return to his hometown for the New Year afterwards.

….

In Xicheng, at the Old Li family house.

Service One, accompanying Old Master Li was waiting outside with him.

The old man was dressed in a thick coat, while Service One had a red scarf around its neck, the expression on its face that of a smile.

Then they saw a car approaching from afar, only to come to a gradual stop in front of the gate.

The smile on Old Master Li’s face deepening, he, along with Service One, hurried forward a few steps.

And soon after, Li Hanyu and Li Xusheng got out of the car first, followed by Fang Xiyan who went to the trunk to get the wheelchair out, and then Li Qingzhou came out.

Taking Li Xusheng’s hand, Old Master Li invited Fang Xiyan to stay for dinner.

Fang Xiyan waved his hand hurriedly, refusing Old Master Li’s warm invitation politely.

–He had to hurry home, otherwise any further delay might mean reaching home only at midnight.

And seeing this, Old Master Li didn’t insist any further.

Li Qingzhou told Fang Xiyan to be safe on his way back.

And nodding, Fang Xiyan got into the car to leave.

Then Old Master Li, leading Li Xusheng, with Li Hanyu pushing Li Qingzhou, went into the mansion while Service One followed behind obediently, playing a soothing piece of music.

The morning after Li Qingzhou returned home, heavy snow began to drift down gently in Xicheng.

It wasn’t known whether it had started in the middle of the night.

However when he woke up and opened the window, he saw that the ground outside was already covered in a layer of sparkling snowflakes that shimmered faintly in the weak sunlight.

A cool breeze wafted in from outside, and Li Qingzhou, after watching the snow falling for a while, closed the window.

–He turned his phone on– it was mostly filled with messages from Liu Bohuai from abroad.

He replied to all of them, but didn’t make a video call.

After all, it was still midnight in that part of the world.

Sighing at the difficulties of a long-distance relationship, he pouted then put his phone away.

Xicheng, being in the north, experienced relentless snowfall, making it so that by morning, the entire surroundings were blanketed in silvery white.

Thankfully the house was heated, and sitting in the living room, in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, and admiring the snowy courtyard was undeniably a pleasure.

Li Qingzhou and Old Master Li sat opposite each other with a small wooden round table between them that was topped with hot tea and snacks.

An old man and a young one, enjoying a rare moment of leisure.

The old butler and nanny bustled around in preparation for the New Year, a never dying smile that radiated festive joy and happiness on their faces.

Just then, Li Xusheng stomped downstairs, followed by Li Hanyu who was carrying a coat.

“Grandpa, big brother, I, I want to go out and play in the snow.”

Li Xusheng was wearing a white sweater and a matching woolen hat on his head.

And standing in front of Old Master Li and Li Qingzhou, he put his hands behind his back, his cheeks flushed as he looked at them with eyes filled with expectation.

Old Master Li laughed, “Okay, go out and play in the snow in the courtyard. Remember to wear your coat and gloves…”

Li Qingzhou fed his little brother a sip of hot tea.

And nodding his little head, Li Xusheng put on a light blue down jacket and fluffy gloves that could be hung around his neck.

Li Hanyu followed him out, holding a small snow shovel that had been provided by the butler.

Watching the two children play in the snow through the window and surrounded by the busy yet comforting sounds of the household, Old Master Li sighed then asked, “Qingzhou, about what grandpa mentioned to you before, have you given it any thought?”

Li Qingzhou’s hand that was holding the tea cup froze.

What he had mentioned to him before on the phone, was precisely– the matter of him introducing him to male blind dates.

Old Master Li, after learning that Li Qingzhou liked men, couldn’t help but worry.

Obviously, compared to women, he was more worried about male partners, afraid that Li Qingzhou might be disadvantaged or hurt in a relationship.

Hence it was better for him to find someone whose background he knew very well.

And indeed, after that, Old Master Li started paying attention in Xicheng and actually noticed someone — the second young master of the Yang family that ran a chain of food companies in the city.

This young man was naturally inclined towards men and had come out of the closet early.

Despite his family’s reprimands, they couldn’t control him, and eventually, they just let him be.

Old Master Li hadn’t paid attention to such news before and so didn’t quite understand it. But now that he asked, relevant information naturally came to light.

The Yang family was also worried about their second son’s romantic prospects, especially since he was outgoing, playful, and mischievous, afraid he would mess around in this area.

Hence while the Yang family no longer opposed his preference for men, they didn’t allow him to choose a partner randomly.

So when Old Master Li first made contact with the Yang family, they were surprised.

They hadn’t expected that Old Master Li, at such an old age, would be so open-minded as to support his grandson liking men.

And not just supporting, but also taking the trouble to arrange potential matches for him.

Later on, the Yang family delved further into understanding the Li family and got to know about Li Qingzhou’s situation.

–Although he was physically disabled, Li Qingzhou wasn’t to be underestimated, and recently he had been making waves in Yanjing with his smart AI cars and the AI Robots Exchange Competition’s International Grand Finals.

Although the Yang family’s business primarily revolved around food production, they weren’t averse to expanding their enterprise further.

Moreover the Yang family’s standing in Xicheng was no where on par with the Li family’s.

Hence even though Old Master Li merely hinted at the idea, the Yang family accepted it readily.

–Wasn’t it just having their second son meet someone for a potential match? It wasn’t a big sacrifice.

If it worked out, the Yang family could be connected to the Li family.

This was too good of a prospect to refuse no matter how they thought about it.
