Chapter 80.2

Editor: Jodi

Service One’s round head had this expression (●—●), which then changed into (^—^).

Then a somewhat cute electronic voice sounded– “Hello, everyone. Although it’s not our first meeting, this is the first time Service One is greeting you all.”

“Please take care of me and vote for Service One oh.”

Service One’s mechanical arm made a heart shape in front of its chest.

Bernie couldn’t help but glance at his teammates, his expression serious.

[Wow, in previous matches Service One had a rigid programmed voice, so how come now…. sure enough, they were hiding it’s true strength in the previous matches.]

[Campaigning openly, haha.]

The host was obviously also a little surprised. He asked, “Is the degree of Service One’s intelligence the same as that of Rescue One’s?”

However who knew that before Li Qingzhou could respond, Service One would turn its head to say after hearing this, “Hmph, how could it be the same?”

“It’s obviously Service One that is smarter than Rescue One. Rescue One is dumb.”

The host’s eyes widened, unable to hide his surprise.

He was asking Mr. Li, but Service One was surprisingly able to answer.

He couldn’t help but continue to ask, “Why is Rescue One dumb?”

Service One: “Rescue One doesn’t know how to do math, but Service One does, and Service One can even help children with their homework.”

“Service One is very capable; even captain praised me!”

[Help with homework?! Isn’t it just basic elementary math? Haha, like one plus one equals two kind of stuff.]

[Elementary math is quite challenging these days, okay? Maybe it’s kindergarten level math? Wait, do kindergartens even teach math? It’s over, it’s been so long since I graduated, I’ve forgotten.]

The host: “You can even solve math problems? To what level, high school math?”

The host asked on behalf of the live audience or perhaps it was the netizens?

Service One’s eyes flashed as if it was shy then said, “Captain only implanted up to middle school math into Service One’s programming. I haven’t learned high school math yet.”

“Although Rescue One isn’t as smart and capable as Service One.”

“Rescue One can do things that Service One can’t do. Captain says we each have our own strengths.”

Turning to Li Qingzhou, the host said jokingly, “Mr. Li, I wonder if Combat One is also as intelligent as Service One is?”

Service One: “Combat One is…”

“Cough, little chatterbox shut up.” Li Qingzhou told it.

Service One’s expression drooped, and its mouth turned into this shape (●^●).

And sad because of being scolded, “Okay, Service One won’t talk anymore… but Service One is not a chatterbox.”

Service One mumbled quietly at the end.

[Service One can actually argue back? Even though I know it’s all programmed, it’s still too intelligent right?]

[Middle school math?! If it can really help with homework, then children won’t need tutors or extra classes anymore. Of course, that’s if you can afford to have a Service One.]

[Hurry up and start the match! I can’t wait to see what else Service One can do!]

The host didn’t say much more and announced the start of the competition—— then Service One and Mervylle entered the arena together.

In the intelligent programming of domestic service robots, there were typically the installation of reception devices, sensory devices, and many more, which allowed the robots to serve effectively in a home environment.

The competition arena was designed to simulate the layout of a house.

And there were also staff members who were acting as either homeowners or visitors to assist with the competition’s tasks.

For example, when the domestic service robots entered the arena, they would first have to bind themselves to the homeowner.

After that, they would be tested in areas such as facial recognition, theft detection, indoor and outdoor temperature checks, and detecting whether there were flammable or toxic gases inside the house.

Additionally, the homeowners would issue commands as needed, such as moving objects, cleaning, or waking them up at specific times, etc.

And if the homeowner was away from home, they could also connect to the robot system via a smartphone to monitor their home in real-time to prevent things like forgetting to turn off utilities like water, electricity, gas and so on.

These were considered essential functions and features for domestic service robots.

And the judges would evaluate the robots based on their completion speed, accuracy, and whether there were any malfunctions or errors.

As the competition progressed, both teams were neck and neck,

With Service One and Mervylle performing exceptionally well.

However just then, the staff member who was playing the role of the homeowner for Service One suddenly left the arena.

And when he came back, he was accompanied by two more people– an elderly person and a child.

The audience were confused and the netizens were also puzzled.

–After all, there had never been a situation where other people had entered the field in previous matches.

Yu Zhe explained right then, “Our purpose for making domestic service robots is to provide assistance within the home.”

“And within a household, the primary needs often revolve around taking care of the elderly and children.”

“Adults are capable and can often perform tasks more quickly than robots, especially routine activities.”

“Therefore, besides the basic functions, Service One also comes equipped with features for measuring blood pressure, monitoring health conditions for the elderly, and many more….”

The elderly often struggled to understand modern products and so found it inconvenient to handle tasks like taking medication or cleaning the house when they were alone.

Especially tasks that the younger generations saw as simple.

–For example, the elderly didn’t understand things like reading medication instructions, using blood pressure monitors, or administering injections.

And forgetfulness, not being able to use smartphones, not being accompanied at home, loneliness…. these were all things that came with old age.

Some might say just hire a caregiver to come and look after the elderly.

However where there any shortages of caregivers abusing the elderly in the society?

Although Service One was an intelligent electronic product,

Once the family set up its program, it could engage in conversation with the elderly, control household appliances through voice commands, make phone calls, measure blood pressure, monitor health conditions, and even connect to a power source for charging when its battery was low by itself….

Service One demonstrated these capabilities perfectly on the competition field, surpassing Bernie’s team’s Mervylle in terms of intelligence.

–And talking about just its medical service capability alone, Mervylle didn’t have it.

What’s more Service One even helped the child with his homework during the match, enforcing a rule that the child had to finish his homework before watching TV, setting a time limit.

Sighing, Bernie turned back to his teammates, shaking his head.

In the end, Service One won the match.
