Chapter 100.3
Editor: Princess
When the team arrived at the center of H City, the streetlights illuminated the ground, revealing something shining everywhere. Curious, they got out to take a look, only to discover that the ground was littered with level one zombie crystal cores!
Later, the base sent two bulldozers over, which scooped up an entire truckload. And a rough estimate put the number of cores at tens of thousands!
While the base was busy dispatching vehicles, Gu Yuanzhao was unloading supplies from his spatial button.
Cookies, crackers, instant noodles, small cakes, candies, sausages, chocolate—there was so much food that the sight of it made people’s eyes dazzle. The sound of gulping was distinctly audible.
And judging by the amount, almost all of the 50 cubic meters of storage had been emptied. He hadn’t held anything back.
Seeing everyone’s hungry gazes, Bai Jing chuckled and told Gu Yuanzhao to distribute their backpacks back to them.
“Oh my god, this is my backpack!”
“Wow, everything inside is still here!”
“Thank you, Young Master Bai, Young Master Gu!”
“Seriously, thank you so much!”
The group was overjoyed, their gratitude completely sincere.
After all, while all those supplies technically belonged to the base, these backpacks were their own.
The next afternoon, three trucks returned from H City, fully loaded.
One truck carried the remaining snacks, rice, grains, cooking oil, and alcohol.
Another truck was packed full of frozen meat.
And the last truck… was filled entirely with zombie crystal cores!
But that wasn’t all. There were still plenty of frozen dumplings, cold storage goods, clothes, and daily necessities left in the underground supermarket.
So after unloading everything into the warehouse, the trucks set off again, returning the next day with yet another full load!
For the third base, this was an absolutely unprecedented haul!
And all of it was thanks to Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao.
To celebrate this incredible success, the base set up makeshift kitchens on every street, dividing hundreds of pounds of bone-in meat from the cold storage into pots and cooking it into rich, hearty bone soup.
Every single person in the base received a bowl of steaming hot bone broth and two fluffy, fragrant white flour buns.
Unlike the coarse, hard-to-chew mixed-grain buns they usually ate, these were made from fine white flour, carrying the natural aroma of grain and incredibly filling.
A sip of hot bone soup, then a bite of soft, warm white bun. It was so delicious that people almost bit their own tongues.
For many, this was the first time they had eaten meat since the apocalypse began.
To them, this day felt like a holiday, something they would remember for a long time.
As a token of gratitude, the base leader, Zhou Ze, upgraded Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao’s privileges to the highest level.
They were granted permanent residence, each of them received 100,000 points.
Then they were also given the authority to command up to five supernatural ability users and ten soldiers—privileges even some of the base’s top executives didn’t have.
Gu Yuanzhao used his 100,000 points to buy a plot of farmland and hired an honest old farmer to manage it, planting a variety of fruits and vegetables so they could have fresh produce every day.
Normally, all agricultural land was strictly controlled by the base, and so not for sale to individuals. What’s more each plot had its own protection system and was guarded around the clock by soldiers.
However due to the immense contributions these two had made, the base made an exception.

In the following year, Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao took on every high-difficulty mission available, wiping out zombies wherever they went and clearing out every supermarket they found.
The third base rapidly grew into the largest settlement in the country, expanding its territory, causing more and more supernatural ability users and ordinary people to flock to it, thereby strengthening its population.
The area around the base became entirely zombie-free, buildings remained intact, and large tracts of farmland were cultivated in the nearby villages and towns. Crops were planted, chickens and pigs were raised…
Six months later, researchers successfully reverse-engineered the formula for nutrient solution that Gu Yuanzhao had provided.
Creating a formula might be difficult, but analyzing an existing product as a base made it much easier.
The moment the ingredients were analyzed, all the researchers were stunned.
This was the pinnacle of technology, the perfect combination—so exquisite that no one could create a better formula for this nutrient solution!
Using the least and cheapest ingredients, they had actually created the most filling and nutritionally balanced food—this was a miracle!
As long as they could synthesize it, they could definitely solve the food problem at the base!
Now, the nutrient solution they synthesized had passed extremely rigorous testing, entered mass production, and was being distributed free to the base’s residents.
A single small tube of the nutrient solution could keep a man working all morning without feeling hungry, and it was very cheap to produce.
With this nutrient solution, people had plenty of energy every day, and extra points could be exchanged for vegetables, meat, and other foods—at least once or twice a month, they could afford some meat, which was a huge improvement compared to a year ago.
After their basic food and shelter needs were met, people began rebuilding the city. And with the base’s support, factories and shops started operating again, faintly restoring a glimpse of the pre-apocalypse world.
