Chapter 100.2
Editor: Princess
On a secluded road two kilometers from the base, a silver-white mecha came to a stop.
To avoid attracting attention, Gu Yuanzhao stored the mecha into his spatial button, then the two of them continued toward the base on foot.
With the current level of technology, mechas were still too shocking for the public. So to prevent unnecessary trouble, it was best to keep them hidden.
When they arrived at the base entrance, they handed over their temporary identification.
“Bai Jing, Gu Yuanzhao?”
The staff member’s eyes widened in shock.
Just ten minutes ago, she had processed Yang Wenshuo’s team and learned that their mission had failed—one member had died, and two supernatural ability users had stayed behind at the mission site with slim chances of survival.
But now, in such a short time, these two had shown up alive?!
She quickly logged into the system to verify their identities, and confirming that they were indeed part of the same mission group, she immediately reported it to the higher-ups.
“Are you injured?”
“No.”
Her surprise deepened. “For safety reasons, you’ll need to undergo a thorough medical examination.”
All supernatural ability users returning from missions had to go through strict screening to ensure they weren’t infected.
But what shocked her the most, was that these two had managed to escape unscathed from a Level 6 zombie.
That was a level six zombie!
Right after Yang Wenshuo’s team reported the situation, the base had immediately canceled all missions to gather supplies from H City.
And a warning had also been issued: no supernatural ability users were allowed near H City’s city center, because a level six zombie was there.
Although many people doubted it, no one was willing to risk their lives over a suspicion.
And since Yang Wenshuo was one of the top-ranked supernatural ability users in the base, his words carried weight.
Even if it wasn’t a level six zombie, it had to be at least Level four.
Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao had no objections and entered a white building near the entrance for blood tests and other physical examinations.
When they came out, Yang Wenshuo and the others were waiting for them, their eyes filled with emotion.
“I’m really sorry. And… thank you.”
Other than Yu Kai, who was still in the medical center, the dozen or so team members all sincerely expressed their gratitude and apologies.
Without Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao, they would have all died at the hands of the level six zombie.
Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao exchanged a glance and accepted their thanks and apologies.
Just then, the base leader Zhou Ze and several high-ranking officials arrived at the entrance.
Zhou Ze nodded at them. “Welcome back to the third base. Thank you for your contributions. Surviving against a level six zombie is proof of your strength.
Although the mission wasn’t completed, given your outstanding performance, each of you will still receive 2,000 points. And Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao will receive an additional 1,000 points.”
However before anyone could react, a young voice suddenly said in confusion—
“But… the mission has already been completed.”
What??!!
As soon as these words were spoken, the surroundings fell silent.
…Mission completed? What did that mean?
Fuck, did it mean what they thought it meant?!
Yang Wenshuo and the others had all witnessed how terrifying a level six zombie could be—not only was it so fast it was almost impossible to track, its entire body was as tough as steel. On top of that, it had evolved terrifying dual-element abilities and even possessed intelligence comparable to that of a human!
No one believed that these two could have actually killed that zombie.
The best outcome they could imagine was the two of them barely escaping with their lives, blowing up the entrance with explosives to trap the zombie under tons of rubble in the underground supermarket.
But… but… had they really killed the level six zombie??
Holy shit, just what kind of monsters were these two?!
Everyone’s jaws dropped in shock, their eyes fixed on the two of them, who stood there completely unscathed. Damn, this was just too terrifying!
Bai Jing looked at Zhou Ze. “It’s definitely dead. This is the level six zombie’s crystal core.”
In his hand was a crystal core the size of a grown man’s fist, with both purple and white hues swirling inside. A faint chill emanated from it, along with a crackling lightning aura.
And judging by its size alone, there was no doubt that it was definitely a level six zombie’s crystal core!
The higher the level of the crystal core, the larger it was.
A level one core was about the size of a fingernail, a level two core was the size of a coin, a level three core was the size of a ping-pong ball…
And this core, the size of a grown man’s fist, with both lightning and ice attributes—it had to be from that level six zombie!
Huang Tianhao sucked in a sharp breath. He thought back to how he had taunted Bai Jing before, completely unaware of his own mortality, and suddenly felt a wave of fear wash over him.
Thankfully, Bai Jing didn’t hold grudges against small-minded people. Because with his level of power, he could have crushed him like an insect.
Even Zhou Ze, who had seen his fair share of shocking things, found it hard to suppress the astonishment on his face.
To be able to kill a level six zombie… these two were unbelievably strong. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call them the strongest in the entire apocalypse!
Gu Yuanzhao added, “I’ve brought some supplies back using my spatial ability. The rest can be retrieved by the base using trucks, but they should move quickly.
We’ve cleared out most of the zombies on the roads, but we shouldn’t give others a chance to snatch the resources first.”
Zhou Ze thought about the reports from the scouting teams, and his shock deepened.
It was them… it was really them who had wiped out every single zombie in H City… How—how did they do it?
Suppressing his excitement, he immediately dispatched three trucks to collect the supplies overnight, led by his second-in-command. He also assigned a squad of soldiers and two supernatural ability users to the team, just in case they ran into zombies along the way.
