Chapter 93.1 Extra 2

Editor: Jodi

When Gu Yuanzhao woke up again, he realized he was no longer inside the wormhole but had arrived in an unfamiliar place.

He flipped himself up from the cracked concrete ground, scanning his surroundings secretly.

Everything here was rough and basic. Dust was scattered all over the ground, and about a few hundred meters ahead stood a 10-meter-high wall. Many people, dressed in ragged clothes with sallow faces, were heading in that direction.

Judging by the outdated defense facilities and the way these people were dressed, this place was definitely not a planet under the Empire’s control!

Could it be that he had accidentally entered some low-tier planet?

But more importantly, he was the only one here—there was no sign of Bai Jing at all.

Was his Ah Jing in danger?

His heart burning with anxiety, he immediately activated his light brain to send Bai Jing a video call, however the screen only showed ‘Unable to Connect’. The positioning system was also completely down.

It seemed like this place wasn’t covered by the interstellar satellite network.

He had no choice but to follow the crowd ahead and gather as much information as possible.

Gu Yuanzhao was still in his black military uniform, tall and well-proportioned, his features sharp and mature. His entire appearance was spotless, not a single trace of dirt on him—completely out of place in this apocalyptic setting. Making it so that instead of looking like a survivor struggling in the wasteland, he seemed more like a noble young master walking out of a banquet or a high-ranking officer from the military. The moment he appeared, all eyes were drawn to him.

“This guy must be a powerful ability user… and he’s alone. If we could somehow gain his favor…”

Many people started scheming in their hearts secretly.

Frowning, Gu Yuanzhao sidestepped the men and women trying to get close, his cold gaze sweeping over them like a blade, sharp and cutting. The sheer pressure of his 3S-ranked aura instantly made them break out in cold sweat, freezing them in place, too afraid to make another move.

“Ability users, come register over here. Everyone else, line up for inspection one by one.”

A few ability users in full gear, armed with guns, patrolled the area, maintaining order.

Gu Yuanzhao kept scanning the crowd as he walked, however there was still no sign of Bai Jing. His expression grew darker.

“You, step into the machine and wait for one minute.”

A slender young teenager followed the instructions and stepped into a curved rectangular scanning machine. Someone beside the machine pressed a button, and a beam of light, similar to an X-ray, swept over his body from head to toe—once, twice, three times—before finally stopping.

This was the base’s latest invention—a device designed to detect the zombie virus. Regular blood tests took hours to process, which was far too slow. But with this machine, the infection level in a person’s body could be determined almost instantly, something which was a major breakthrough in the scientific field.

The inspector glanced at the data on the screen. “No issues. You can step out.”

The armed ability users lowered their weapons and gestured toward the entrance. “Go register at the gate.”

The teenager’s messy bangs covered his beautiful teal colored eyes, and carrying a dirty backpack, he walked forward silently.

Gu Yuanzhao finally saw the person he had been searching for. His long legs moved swiftly, bringing him to Bai Jing’s side in an instant—only to be stopped by the scanning machine and a group of ability users.

“Step back! You have to go through the scan before entering the base! Otherwise, you’ll be treated as an infected and executed on the spot!”

The ability users barked out the warning, their voices sharp and firm, all guns aimed directly at him.

A red dot landed right between his brows. Gu Yuanzhao lifted his gaze and immediately spotted snipers stationed on the city wall, and it was more than one at that.

Bai Jing turned his head slightly, glancing at the man in military uniform. For some reason, he felt a strange sense of familiarity.

However it had to have been his imagination. Because there was no way he would have forgotten someone this remarkable if he had ever met him before.

The teenager turned back indifferently and continued cooperating with the registration process to enter the base.

As an Imperial Major General with a 3S genetic ranking, Gu Yuanzhao could easily dodge the bullets raining down on him, not to mention that these weapons were nowhere near as lethal as interstellar-grade firepower. But—

Remembering the unfamiliar look in Bai Jing’s eyes just now, he decided it was best not to act rashly.

The scanning light swept over his entire body, and when the tall, strikingly handsome man stepped out of the detector, the inspector stared at the screen in shock, his mouth slightly agape.

T-This kind of perfect physique… it actually existed?

Gu Yuanzhao moved to the teenager’s side hurriedly, speaking in the gentlest of tones, “Ah Jing.”

Bai Jing lifted his gaze slightly, giving him a brief glance before lowering his head again, his voice even colder than when Gu Yuanzhao had first met him. “I don’t know you. You’ve got the wrong person.”

Only then did Gu Yuanzhao get a good look at his face.

The teenager was thin—his chin sharp, his face devoid of any baby fat, and when he tilted his head slightly, Gu Yuanzhao’s sharp eyes immediately caught sight of a deep bruise in the center of his forehead, though it was quickly hidden beneath his slightly long bangs.

His lips were also cracked, with a faint trace of blood seeping into the bruised skin. His wrists were so thin and fragile that one hand could easily wrap around them. The fabric of his clothes was badly torn, with some areas stained with blood and dirt. He looked completely and utterly wretched.

Seeing the teenager like this, Gu Yuanzhao felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if his heart was being twisted over and over again. The ache was so intense it was suffocating.

He desperately wanted to pull Bai Jing into his arms and give him everything good in this world.
