Chapter 82.3

Editor: Jodi

The next day, the military’s official Star Realm account released a video showing the exact scenes Gu Yuanzhao and Bai Jing had witnessed in the secret room.

And when the rows and rows of experimental subjects, along with the decayed zombies appeared on the screen, those with weaker constitutions immediately screamed in terror, terror which quickly turned into overwhelming anger.

What if those things had escaped? What about our safety?!

The Yuan family was simply unforgivable!

As one of the Empire’s top five aristocratic families, the Yuan family enjoyed supreme rights and status, yet they secretly engaged in such disgusting activities!

Outraged, the Empire’s citizens demanded that the Yuan family be sentenced to death.

And given the severe impact of the incident, after discussions between the Imperial Royal Family and the other major aristocratic families, the judiciary issued the following ruling:

Yuan Song, head of the Yuan family, along with his sons Yuan Hai and Yuan Hao, were sentenced to death, to be executed in ten days.

Level Six Stone Gamblers Yan Ji and Song Rui were exiled to the Desolate Planet for ten years, with a permanent revocation of their gambling on rough stones privileges….

While all individuals who were associated with the Yuan family received their due punishment, and the Yuan family, once one of the Empire’s top five aristocratic families, was now completely obliterated, with all of its assets confiscated by the Imperial Royal Family.

In addition, the military officially issued a special statement of gratitude:

[Thanks to @Stone Gambler Gu Yun for his outstanding contribution in exposing the Yuan family’s crimes. This is equivalent to 50,000 military points.

In recognition, the rank of Honorary Major has been conferred on him, and he is invited to report to the military at his convenience.]

The moment this announcement came out, everyone on Starnet was stunned.

That was a Major’s rank! According to the Empire’s military hierarchy, one typically had to start as a First-Class Soldier, Second-Class, all the way up to Fifth Class, then advance to junior ranking officer, middle ranking officer, then senior ranking officer, before finally reaching the rank of Major.

What’s more each rank had a limited number of positions, making it so that many spent their entire military careers without ever advancing beyond soldier status, let alone reaching the rank of Major!

Yet Gu Yun had jumped directly from having no military rank to becoming a Major. This was nothing short of meteoric!

And what did 50,000 military points even mean?

It was equivalent to killing 10,000 level one alien beasts or 2,000 level two alien beasts. This, this, besides someone like Young Master Gu, who was a god of war, who else could achieve that?

Even if Gu Yun was exceptionally strong, there was no way he could actually accumulate so many military points in just a few days, right!

[This number must be fake!]

[50,000 military points in just three days? I don’t believe it.]

[Young Master Gu must have given him some of his military points. Otherwise, how could this be possible?]

[Military points are earned by soldiers through their blood and sweat. Even if Gu Yun uncovered the Yuan family’s conspiracy, it shouldn’t be equated with military achievements!]

[Exactly, this will only dishearten the soldiers!]

[Why is Gu Yun everywhere? So annoying.]

However the military didn’t even wait for these comments to gain traction, as they immediately released a video.

It was a footage that showed Bai Jing piloting his blue mecha, engaged in battle with a Level five alien beast—this was the scene where he had fought fiercely with the giant eagle in order to rescue Du Xingyu.

The characteristics of high-level alien beasts were unmistakable: their foreheads gleamed with a golden light, their bodies were more massive, and they had the ability to command lower-level alien beasts.

This was common knowledge for every citizen of the Empire, so they quickly recognized that the giant eagle was at least a level five beast.

However despite its high level, the giant eagle had no escape against the blue mecha’s laser beams that were like a net.

Several holes were created in its massive wings by the lasers, causing it to let out a pained screech that contained a mental power attack. And even though the video had been processed, the crowd of viewers who were watching the video still felt a surge of unease as their blood rose.

However despite this intense situation, the blue mecha wasn’t affected in the slightest as it moved with a lightning speed so fast that its actions were almost a blur.

Then a sharp, ear-piercing cry rang out as the wings of the giant eagle suddenly snapped. It thrashed about violently, however something unseen seemed to bind it tighter and tighter until it fell to the ground, suffocated, and died.

At the end of the video, the military provided a statistics of Gu Yun’s alien beast kills.

The statistics bore the red seal of the Military Marshal, affirming its authenticity.

It read:

“According to statistics, Gu Yun has killed the following number of alien beasts:

Level seven Zombie-type Alien Beasts – one

Level five Alien Beasts – two

Level four Zombie-type Alien Beasts – twelve

Level three Alien Beasts – One Hundred and Eighty-Three

Level two Alien Beasts – Three Hundred and Twenty-Five

Note: This data contains only incomplete statistics, as other kills can’t be examined.’

Everyone was left speechless with shock after they watched the video.

A Level seven Zombie-type Alien Beast!! This was nearly the highest level of alien beast that the Empire had ever seen!

There were also several hundred level three and level two alien beasts?! Heavens, was this even something a human could do?

And that ‘incomplete statistics’, didn’t that mean Gu Yun’s actual kill count was even higher?!

[Fuck, God Yun is also too good right!!]

[50,000 military points! That’s equivalent to 500 million starcoins!]

[Another day to kneel before God Yun!]

[Is there anything God Yun can’t do?!]

[Those who were shouting just now, you probably can’t even earn a single military point, right?]

[I just love a good face-slap, it’s so satisfying.]

[I’m falling more and more in love with God Yun!]

Not long after the military’s announcement, a high-ranking officer also reposted the announcement, thanking Gu Yun for saving his life.

This officer was one of the military personnel Bai Jing had saved in the Yuan family’s secret room.

After watching the video, his admiration for his savior deepened even more.

If Bai Jing ever reported to the military, he would definitely, immediately apply to serve under him.

Following this, Du Xingyu also posted the message:

[Thank you, @StoneGamblerGuYun. If it weren’t for you, I would have been killed by that level five alien beast. I am really very grateful.]

The fanbase of the little prince of the Empire, which numbered over 30 million, also flooded in to thank Gu Yun. If it weren’t for him, they might never have seen their beloved idol again, sob.

After this, more and more people began expressing their gratitude to Gu Yun and the other soldiers. These were families and wealthy merchants who had attended this year’s Sotho Star Planet’s Emporium.

If it wasn’t for Young Master Gu and God Yun, they would have been destroyed by the Yuan family’s conspiracy, torn apart by alien beasts.

The name ‘Gu Yun’ once again became etched in the minds of the Empire’s citizens.

He wasn’t just a top-tier Stone Gambler, he was also an exceptional mecha warrior who uncovered the Yuan family’s plot, saving countless lives in the Empire.

He was the Empire’s hero!
