Chapter 80 Memories

Editor: Jodi

As the plane landed at the Imperial Capital Airport, small snowflakes began to drift from the sky, enveloping the world in a layer of white mist.

And their fans, having somehow learned the flight details of Lin Qin and Meng Chao, were waiting at the exit.

Holding light-up banners, they stood quietly in a corner, but Lin Qin and Meng Chao never appeared, because knowing about the fans waiting, and not wanting to add trouble for the airport staff, they opted for the VIP exit instead.

Even so, Meng Chao and Lin Qin told their assistants to buy cups of hot coffee for the fans who had come to pick them up and to remind them to stay safe on their way back.

Then the two of them got into their car directly from the VIP exit and sitting in the car, Lin Qin looked at the falling snow outside the window, lost in thought.

Meng Chao waved a hand in front of him then asked, “What’s on your mind?”

And coming back to his senses, Lin Qin told him, “Do you always have fans waiting for you at the airport? It’s so cold today, yet they still came out. They don’t take care of themselves at all.” He was concerned about the fans who had come to pick them up.

Meng Chao was used to it, “This is one of the ways they express their love for you, and it’s also a moment when they feel closer to you.”

The practice of fans coming out to pick their idols up at airports wasn’t something that could be stopped easily, because they always found a way to learn the flight details of their idols and then, regardless of the circumstances, made sure they were there.

Even if it was just a glimpse from a distance, even if they couldn’t say anything, they would be satisfied.

It was hard to say whether this mentality was good or bad, as as long as it didn’t cause trouble for others, it was just a way of liking someone wholeheartedly.

And hearing Meng Chao’s words, Lin Qin also understood the mentality of these fans as he had once also been like this. He had once also thought to himself, ‘If I can just see Meng Chao from afar, I would be very satisfied.’

However he was luckier than other fans – he had the opportunity to be with Meng Chao and even to be in a relationship with him.

Thinking this, he suddenly laughed.

“Why are you laughing all of a sudden?” Meng Chao asked, rubbing his hair.

Lin Qin tilted his head to look at him, a mischievous glint in his eyes, “Am I considered to be at the peak level of being a fan? I’m in a relationship with my male god.”

Meng Chao laughed with him, telling him, “I can make you reach an even higher peak.”

Lin Qin: “How so?”

Meng Chao leaned in and gave him a kiss, “Marry your male god, spend a lifetime together with him.” He said playfully yet seriously. “I wonder if Qin Qin wants to be at the peak like this?”

Lin Qin, who was teased by Meng Chao like this again “….” However he nodded with a red face.

Willing, how could he not be willing?

The car drove all the way to the Lin family’s villa, and when Lin Qin got out of the car, he looked at Meng Chao for a long time, reluctant to part with him.

It seems, that ever since he and Meng Chao had gotten together, they had seldom been apart. However this time he really needed to go home. His parents had called him several times to urge him to come home, and previously, he’d had the excuse of working together, however now, that reason no longer existed.

How could Meng Chao not know what he was thinking? Hence getting out of the car, he kissed him, saying soothingly. “After the New Year, we’ll go on a trip, just the two of us.”

This promise was like a nice piece of cake, because Lin Qin latched onto it immediately.

“Go ahead, uncle is waiting for you.” Meng Chao gave him another peck on the lips.

And Lin Qin, looking back three steps for every one step he took, walked towards his house.

Lin Cheng Du was standing in front of the villa, tears streaming down his face as he watched Lin Qin’s return.

Wasn’t it said, that ‘a grown daughter was hard to keep at home’? So how come when it came to him, it was his son that was hard to keep at home?

Of course, he only complained in his heart, because when Lin Qin neared him, he welcomed his son back home happily.

“Xiao Qin, I’ve already had someone tidy your room up, and your bedding was just aired out in the sun yesterday. Go up and see if you like it. If not, just tell dad and I’ll change it right away.” Lin Cheng Du chattered enthusiastically by Lin Qin’s ear, his voice full of energy, the expression on his face one of exuberant joy. It could be seen that he was really very happy that Lin Qin had decided to come and stay at home.

Lin Qin hadn’t lived here before, as he was resistant to the sharing of a space with others, and so he lived in a more secluded villa in the suburbs.

Lin Cheng Du had called Lin Qin earlier, asking when he would be returning, then had someone clean that villa up. However after thinking about it, Lin Qin decided to come back to the family home instead.

And returning to the family home meant staying in the room he’d had before that incident had happened. And Lin Cheng Du had always lived in this house, a house which he had always considered as his real home in his heart.

So one could imagine just how excited he had been when he’d heard Lin Qin say this, and without even hesitating, had had someone clean Lin Qin’s room up, just waiting for him to come back.

Lin Qin wasn’t particular at all about which room he would sleep in, and after taking a look inside, nodded under his father’s inquiring gaze, “I like it very much.”

Lin Cheng Du’s face lit up with a smile, the expression on his face like a flower that was in bloom, his eyes narrowing into joyful lines.

And Lin Qin, affected by Lin Cheng Du, also smiled.

Lin Cheng Du pulled him to sit down on a sofa in the living room. “What do you want to eat in the evening? I’ll have the housekeeper prepare it for you.”

“I’m fine with anything.” Lin Qin replied casually, his eyes wandering over the decorations in the villa. He actually hadn’t come back to this place in years, because in his memory, this villa was associated with coldness and loneliness.

Which is why at that time, he hadn’t dared to face this villa which had once brought him endless joy and warmth.

And following Lin Qin’s gaze, Lin Cheng Du said somewhat emotionally, “It’s been kept the same all these years. This place holds too many memories of our family. I couldn’t bring myself to change anything.”

Indeed, every corner of the villa was as Lin Qin remembered, however what had once felt cold now seemed to echo with the laughter and joy of his childhood.

And although he felt that the decor was somewhat outdated, the warmth that the villa now evoked brought him back to when he was a child.

Things that carried memories and emotions never truly became outdated.

Lin Cheng Du intentionally steered the conversation towards funny things that had happened during Lin Qin’s childhood, and originally, Lin Qin had still been tense, however with Lin Cheng Du’s help, he couldn’t help but laugh when he remembered the sorts of awkward incidents that had happened when he was a child, causing his mood to also loosen up.

And immediately, the distance between the father and son closed up.

However just as they were chatting, the doorbell rang.

“I’ll get it.” Lin Cheng Du got up and walked towards the door. However when he saw the person outside, the tone of his voice suddenly became low and deep, “Why are you here?”

This tone didn’t sound entirely welcoming, but if one listened carefully, they would be able to hear the hint of excitement in it.

“My son is back, can’t I come over to see him?” The woman choked back, then squeezed past him forcefully and walked in.

This person was naturally Chu Ge.

However the moment she walked in and saw the interior of the villa, her whole body froze.

Lin Cheng Du immediately explained in a clumsy manner that only gave him away, “It’s not that I haven’t changed the decor, it’s that I’ve just been lazy. Don’t read too much into it.”
