Chapter 69 Meng Ke’s chasing of his wife

Smiling, Meng Ke watched as Meng Chao walked to him, and when he reached his side, put his hand on his shoulder casually.

“Why did you come over?” Meng Chao asked in surprise, not removing his hand.

Meng Ke replied as if it were obvious, “I came to visit you on set.

“Heh.” Meng Chao chuckled lightly, unimpressed, “I think it’s just by the way.” He glanced at Han Zhi meaningfully.

Over the years of his filming career, the number of times his big brother had visited his sets could be counted on one hand, but this time Han Zhi had only joined the crew for a few days and his big brother had hurried over on his own. This was simply the case of Sima Zhao’s intentions are obvious to everyone. (meaning an open secret)

His intentions seen through, Meng Ke wasn’t embarrassed but admitted it openly, “I came following Han Zhi.”

Meng Chao teased him, “This time it’s not taking in a lover? You’re a busy man, you won’t come all the way here for just a lover.”

Meng Ke said resignedly, “It’s impossible for him to be a lover, impossible in this lifetime.”

“So you’re serious?” Meng Chao’s tone turned serious.

Meng Ke’s attitude also became unusually serious, “Just wait to call him sister-in-law.”

Meng Chao patted his shoulder, “Good luck.”

The brothers chatted for a while and then turned their attention to the filming. At this moment Lin Qin and Han Zhi were acting in a scene together, with Han Zhi struggling to adapt to the camera and Lin Qin guiding him subtly.

At first Han Zhi was stiff, then gradually got into the role under Lin Qin’s guidance, with the outcome exceeding even his expectations.

When Meng Ke turned his head, he saw his brother looking intently at Lin Qin, his gaze completely devoid of his usual disguised gentleness and instead was full of tender and doting possessiveness.

“You’ve pursued him?” Meng Ke suddenly asked out of the blue.

However Meng Chao understood and laughed softly, “I have, for the rest of my life.”

Meng Ke had no doubt about Meng Chao’s words, because since childhood, once he decided on something, he never wavered, always resolute.

“Then on the old man’s side you just fire the first shot, let him be prepared so when I come forward, he won’t resist as much.” Meng Ke calculated shrewdly, because since the two of them had to come out to the family, letting Meng Chao go first would draw and exhaust the enemy’s firepower, so he could follow and take advantage easily.

After all to the old man, one son or both sons coming out of the closet was the same.

Meng Chao chuckled, hitting him with a blow to the heart, “Chase your wife first before talking about the matter of coming out of the closet. You haven’t even seen his eight characters yet, what are you happy for?”

Meng Ke just felt as if he had taken an arrow to the knee, his smile collapsing instantly. Yes, he still had a long and difficult road ahead in chasing his wife, unlike his little brother who had already gotten the beauty.

He sighed, and when he looked at Han Zhi again, his gaze became much more domineering. He had to intensify his pursuit and not let Han Zhi escape this time!

When Han Zhi, who was filming felt a familiar intense gaze from behind he froze inexplicably, causing him to get an NG.

However the director didn’t blame him, even comforting him, “Han Zhi, don’t be nervous, you did very well just now.”

Han Zhi immediately collected the thoughts he shouldn’t have quickly, apologized to the director, discarded the distractions and immersed himself in the new round of filming.

And finally getting it right this time, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Han Zhi’s scenes weren’t many, and after a week of continuous shooting under the director’s perfectionism, he was physically and mentally exhausted, however he never complained.

Throughout the week, Meng Ke’s figure was seen on set from time to time. Since Han Zhi had recently risen to fame, Meng Ke didn’t want to impact him negatively, and so his visits were under the pretense of him visiting Meng Chao.

In public, Meng Ke was very restrained, because despite wanting to stick close to Han Zhi, he maintained his dignity as a boss as he stood on the side expressionlessly.

So much so that the crew really thought he was visiting Meng Chao, causing them to sigh as they admired the brothers’ relationship.

They didn’t sense anything unspeakable between Meng Ke and Han Zhi.

Only Han Zhi knew that despite Meng Ke’s restraint, he always watched him sneakily with an intensely hot gaze and there were several times when he felt that his back was burning under Meng Ke’s stare.

However whenever he looked back, Meng Ke would smile calmly, a kind of roguish look that said, ‘I’m just sneaking looks at you, what can you do to me?’

Moreover Meng Ke, this guy, was adept at eating tofu.

Sometimes when the two brushed past each other on set, he would intentionally graze Han Zhi’s hand with the back of his, and then leave as if nothing had happened.

Han Zhi found it both annoying and amusing. Meng Chao was obviously the younger brother, yet he was mature and steady while Meng Ke, the big brother was sometimes so childish.

Of course, all this was in public.

Once they were in private, with just Meng Ke and Han Zhi, where did he know any restraint? As he tried every way to get close to him.

Faced with such a Meng Ke, Han Zhi actually felt helpless.

The relationship between him and Meng Ke was very delicate.

Without the color of emotions, Meng Ke was his gold master and he, Meng Ke’s kept lover.

Meng Ke, wealthy and lavish, always threw resources at him but he always refused them. Which was to say he had never accepted any favors from him.

As for whether Meng Ke secretly paved the way for him, he didn’t know, but he suspected it.

Because he knew that without Meng Ke, Chu Tian Entertainment wouldn’t have paid the high penalty fee for him and promoted him so strongly.

So towards Meng Ke, what Han Zhi felt was gratitude. It was Meng Ke who had singlehandedly pulled him out of the mire and given him the opportunity to realize his dreams.

But apart from gratitude? He didn’t know what other emotions to have. His life passion was music, and it seemed he had given all his emotions to it, making him indifferent to other things, because apart from music, everything else was expendable to him.

But now that there was suddenly the presence of Meng Ke, he simply didn’t know what emotion he should face him with.

And since he didn’t know how, he chose to ignore, which was the easiest and least brain-taxing thing to do.

It was because of Han Zhi’s choice that all of Meng Ke’s advances were defected lightly. However hearts were also flesh, so although Han Zhi thought he was indifferent to Meng Ke, in reality, the more they interacted, the more he could tolerate Meng Ke’s childishness, which gradually allowed Meng Ke to inch closer.

Meng Ke was clever. His pursuit was fierce but not oppressive, because knowing Han Zhi’s mindset, his plan was to make Han Zhi accustomed to him subtly, so that eventually, he wouldn’t be able to leave him.

Although Meng Ke had a very long way to go in his chasing of his wife, it was also filled with fun and cunning.
