Chapter 53

Editor: Jodi

Lin Qin was someone with a remarkably good and soft temper, and despite recording the show for so long, he had never once showed a hint of anger. Even when misunderstood or seen as difficult to get along with by the big stars, he silently worked to change their perceptions, never saying a bad word about anyone.

But this time, he didn’t even want to bring breakfast for Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran. Meaning there had to be some frustration brewing inside him, otherwise he wouldn’t act this way. It had to be known, that when they first started recording, Lin Qin used to buy breakfast for the whole team every day, and it was only after the director spoke to him that he stopped doing that.

So, it was clear that Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran had really gone too far with Lin Qin.

Lin Qin sat next to Meng Chao, holding his head up with puffed-up cheeks, looking so small and adorable.

This was clearly asking for comfort.

Meng Chao immediately understood Lin Qin’s intention. So after finishing breakfast, he reached out, pulled him into his arms, kissed the top of his head, then his forehead, and finally his lips.

“If Qin Qin doesn’t like them, I’ll talk to the production team and have them leave.” Meng Chao coaxed.

Lin Qin shook his head immediately, “There’s no need, it’ll be over after today’s recording anyway.”

Meng Chao hugged him, showering him with kisses and playful pinches. “I’ve wronged my Qin Qin.”

Lin Qin wasn’t particularly upset to begin with. It was just that whenever he was with Meng Chao, he would easily become emotional. After being coaxed and cuddled by Meng Chao for a few moments, his bad mood disappeared. Then, he remembered that he had just returned from a morning run and was drenched in sweat. He pushed Meng Chao away gently. “I’m going to take a shower first.”

Meng Chao rubbed his fluffy hair. “Go ahead.”

Lin Qin run up the stairs in his slippers with a ‘da da’, and as Meng Chao watched his retreating figure, a doting smile appeared on his face.

The cameraman, who had already eaten a big mouthful of dog food this early in the morning, took a few steps back discreetly.

Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran didn’t wake up until the sun was high in the sky, not caring at all that they were guests in someone else’s home or the fact that they were on a recording set.

Yi Ran descended the stairs and acted like a lord, ordering Lin Qin to prepare food for him. Lin Qin, however pretended not to hear and went about his business.

With Fang Ming Hui supporting him, Yi Ran behaved differently. Lin Qin was clearly ignoring him, but he persisted in provoking Lin Qin, bossing him around, not treating him as a colleague but more like a servant.

Fang Ming Hui remained calm as he sat on the couch, watching with a slightly amused expression. He wanted to see how much Lin Qin could endure.

However Lin Qin could endure much more than Fang Ming Hui had imagined, because no matter how much Yi Ran tried to bother him, Lin Qin just went about his tasks quietly, not even looking at him.

Meng Chao wanted to step in and shoo away the annoying fly that was Yi Ran from Lin Qin’s side several times, but Lin Qin just shook his head, showing a firm determination that he could handle it himself.

Meng Chao was both distressed and relieved.

The production team, probably unable to bear the situation any longer, set up two temporary stoves in the small courtyard and issued a new task. Lin Qin and Yi Ran were to have a cooking competition, and lunch would be the food they had prepared.

As for the teams, the production team didn’t complicate things. Since this was a dating reality show centered around Meng Chao and Lin Qin’s relationship, it was only natural for Lin Qin and Meng Chao to be paired together. The rumors surrounding Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran’s relationship were already rampant outside the show.

“I refuse.” Fang Ming Hui said firmly. “I want to be on the same team as Lin Qin.”

Meng Chao didn’t even give him a single glance as he went with Lin Qin to choose ingredients.

The production team also didn’t entertain his request and rejected him directly. This matter wasn’t up for negotiation. Their primary focus was on promoting the Meng Chao and Lin Qin’s CP, so in something as conducive to fostering a CP dynamic as cooking, even if Fang Ming Hui was a sponsor of the show, it couldn’t shake the production team’s principles.

Yi Ran tugged on Fang Ming Hui’s sleeve and whispered, “I don’t know how to cook.”

Who knew how to cook these days? When one was hungry, they could just order takeout. Who bothered to cook from scratch anymore?

Yi Ran didn’t know how to cook and Fang Ming Hui, who had been pampered since he was a child didn’t know how to either. They stared at the ingredients cluelessly, not knowing where to start, while a tantalizing aroma from Lin Qin and Meng Chao’s side wafted over, making their mouths water.

Going over to investigate, Fang Ming Hui saw that Lin Qin had prepared a pot of spicy hotpot fish, with red oil swirling and the aroma of freshness and spiciness wafting over with the rising steam.

Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran had slept in today and so hadn’t eaten breakfast. They had also expended a lot of energy last night, so now the scent of the hotpot fish had their stomachs rumbling and filled their minds with thoughts of hunger.

The result of this cooking PK was entirely expected. Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran lost quite miserably. Meng Chao and Lin Qin had already finished cooking while their stove hadn’t even been turned on.

According to reason, this was the moment when Lin Qin and Meng Chao should invite Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran to eat with them, but they didn’t.

Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran could only watch as Lin Qin carried that large pot of fragrant hotpot fish over to the production team without even offering them a bite.

Then the two of them also focused on the food they had just cooked, seemingly forgetting that there were two other people, Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran.

With their prides, Fang Ming Hui and Yi Ran couldn’t bring themselves to ask for food, so in the end, Fang Ming Hui had to discreetly borrow a car from the production team and take Yi Ran to town to eat.

Lin Qin bared his teeth as he watched their retreating figures.

I won’t give you any food, why should I give you the food I cooked!
