Chapter 77 Should Have Been Together

The second male lead who had been brought in by the director to save the day was none other than the first guest of [We Are Together], Zhang Yue.

What’s more he had even borrowed Lin Qin’s biography to study, watching Lin Qin’s movies and learning a lot from them.

Originally, he should have sent the notebook back to Lin Qin’s studio, however he had been holed up in a major TV drama set and hadn’t found the time.

And then thinking he would be filming Dark War with Lin Qin this time, brought the notebook along, planning to return it to Lin Qin in person and express his gratitude.

Zhang Yue arrived at the film city a week later, and without even having much rest, immediately started filming as there was little time and a tight schedule to keep up with.

His first scene was a face-off with Lin Qin, and so he prepared himself mentally in an extensive manner. He had acted opposite seasoned actors before, but for some reason, he felt particularly nervous acting with Lin Qin.

Perhaps it was because he had read Lin Qin’s character biography that had been written meticulously and knew his reverence and passion for acting, which made him equally demand excellence from himself, not wanting to disrupt Lin Qin’s acting.

“Action!”

With the crew member’s call, Zhang Yue’s first scene began.

Then he noticed that Lin Qin’s aura had changed completely, and if it wasn’t for the fact that he still had the same face, he would have almost mistaken him for someone else.

Quickly reminding himself that he was acting, he immediately pulled his thoughts back, immersing himself in the filming.

Acting with Lin Qin felt incredibly magical to Zhang Yue. It was as if there was a subtle force guiding him, giving him an instinctive understanding of how best to act, causing his portrayal to become more and more fluid, as if he had become the character himself.

After the scene was over, he stayed frozen in place for a while before he was able to come out from this profound feeling then walked over to the director’s side to watch the playback of his performance.

He himself was very aware of his own capabilities, and so seeing his performance on the monitor, he was so surprised that his mouth fell open.

This….. this wasn’t his usual standard, it was simply an extraordinary performance!

And the director, understanding what he was thinking, said with a smile, “A good actor can not only immerse themselves in a role, they can also help others get into character. You were drawn into the role by Lin Qin, who helped unlock your potential.”

Thinking back to his state during the filming just now, Zhang Yue nodded seriously, agreeing wholeheartedly.

The director continued, “You should learn a lot this month by following the two Movie Emperors.” Then just after he said this he sighed, “Those two were made for this career. Their perception and expressiveness isn’t something others can just learn.”

Zhang Yue agreed, “Not only do they have talent, they also work hard.” He thought about Lin Qin’s extensive character biography and the numerous efforts Meng Chao had put into acting, all of which could be found online easily, his each detail unique and non-repetitive.

It was said that success was ninety-nine percent talent and one percent sweat. But even those without ninety-nine percent talent couldn’t achieve that one percent sweat.

The director looked at Zhang Yue in surprise, then seeing the admiration and agreement on his face without a trace of envy or jealousy, nodded inside.

It was rare these days to find young people who valued hard work, and even more rare to find those who could acknowledge others’ efforts despite their own talents.

He patted Zhang Yue on the shoulder and said, “Those two Movie Emperors, along with the other seniors in the crew are generous with their knowledge, so take the opportunity to learn from them as much as you can. How much you learn depends on you.”

Of course, the director’s words also implied, ‘If you don’t understand something, you can ask me’.

As an internationally renowned director, his mastery in acting wouldn’t fall short of any Movie Emperor or veteran actor.

And Zhang Yue, understanding his hint, thanked him hurriedly, overjoyed.

“Get ready for the next scene.” The director waved Zhang Yue off to go prepare for the upcoming filming.

And after that, filming went on for more than three hours before the director finally called for a break.

Zhang Yue took the notebook from his assistant and, after asking around and finding out that Lin Qin was in his own lounge, went to look for him.

Standing at the door of the lounge, he knocked, and after a short while, a voice from inside invited him in.

And pushing the door open, Zhang Yue entered, only to find two people in the spacious lounge: Lin Qin and Meng Chao.

What’s more he kept on feeling that the atmosphere inside was oddly sweet, especially around Lin Qin, whose face was flushed red, his lips swollen slightly, the corners of his eyes red.

He looked irresistibly alluring, causing Zhang Yue to subconsciously gulp, however the next moment he felt a cold gaze fall him, and looking over, he met Movie Emperor Meng’s slightly narrowed eyes and immediately jolted, cutting off any inappropriate thoughts that had begun to form in his mind.

Clearing his throat to ease his embarrassment, he held out the notebook to Lin Qin with both hands, saying, “Senior Lin, I finished reading your character biography a while ago. Sorry for not returning it earlier. It was very helpful to me. Thank you, Senior Lin.”

Lin Qin took it with both hands, saying with a smile, “I’m glad it was useful.”

Zhang Yue had originally wanted to stay to discuss acting with Lin Qin and Meng Chao, but then feeling the impatient gaze behind him intensifying, he realized that he might have interrupted something between the two seniors and so excused himself quickly.

Then as he walked out and was about to close the door, he saw Meng Chao leaning down to kiss Lin Qin.

His eyes widening in shock, he suddenly reacted. Senior Lin Qin’s appearance just now, wasn’t it exactly the way someone looked just after they had been kissed?

He quickly shut the door, walking away somewhat disoriented. It turns out, Senior Lin and Senior Meng were in that kind of relationship. No wonder there was such harmony between them together with an ambiguous atmosphere during [We Are Together].

That’s right, Zhang Yue was a loyal viewer of [We Are Together], the kind that never missed an episode.

And maybe it was because the show had portrayed a strong sense of CP between the two, which made it so that when he saw Meng Chao and Lin Qin kissing, apart from the initial shock, he accepted it as something that was natural.

This kind of feeling was as if they were originally always meant to be together, that they had always been a couple.

This realization mirrored what would later become the emotional journey of Lin Qin and Meng Chao’s fans after the couple went public with their relationship.

Heh heh, I said it, the two of them have been together for a long time!

All the fans had an ‘I just knew it’ attitude and immediately started urging Lin Qin and Meng Chao to get married on their Weibo pages.

Of course, these are all things that would happen later.

At this moment, Lin Qin and Meng Chao were still keeping their relationship private, hence their fans could only re-watch [We Are Together], to savor their sweet moments in secret.

These two main characters were so low-key that their fans had to relish the same bits of sweetness over and over.

Sigh, fans of Meng Chao and Lin Qin, as well as the fried vegetables cp fans were pitiful!
