Chapter 55

Editor: Jodi

After Fang Ming Hui had spoken, he maintained a confident demeanor.

In his view, if Lin Qin was willing to submit to Meng Chao, then naturally he would be willing to submit to him as well. After all, no matter who he sold himself to, wasn’t it the same thing? Lin Qin couldn’t be choosy, right?

Lin Qin was somewhat surprised by Fang Ming Hui’s proposition, but it was within his expectations.

Even after so many years, Fang Ming Hui was still the same, always believing that the whole world should revolve around him, that his opinions were absolute and couldn’t be challenged.

However, Lin Qin was determined to be the one who challenged him. Just as he had in high school and just as he would now.

“Fang Ming Hui.” Lin Qin said firmly, wrapping the blanket around himself a little tighter and despite the inevitable fear in his heart because of Fang Ming Hui, his tone was still resolute. “You may be dirty, but don’t assume everyone is as dirty as you. The relationship between Meng Chao Ge and I is pure and clear, with nothing indecent.”

In Lin Qin’s eyes, his love with Meng Chao was incomparably sacred, so he wouldn’t allow Fang Ming Hui to tarnish it.

Each word from Lin Qin was forceful and didn’t allow any doubts.

Fang Ming Hui scoffed, “Pure and clear? Do you think there can be pure love in the entertainment industry? Lin Qin, don’t let your naivety allow others to deceive you.”

Fang Ming Hui leaned back against the sofa, adopting a casual and relaxed posture, however his aura was still aggressive. “I’ll be frank today. If you agree to join me, I guarantee you’ll thrive in this industry. But if you don’t know what’s good for you, I’ll make sure you can’t survive in this circle. Haven’t you already experienced my power?”

Thinking of the past, Lin Qin’s pupils constricted, and a profound fear coursed through his body. However he was stubbornly determined not to show any weakness in front of Fang Ming Hui, not even a hint of vulnerability.

Biting his tongue hard, he pinched his thigh ruthlessly, and the pain helped him calm down gradually. Then he said with a cold voice, “Fang Ming Hui, you haven’t made any progress after all these years at all. I used to be afraid of you in high school, but now, do you really think I’d be afraid of you?”

The campus violence instigated by Fang Ming Hui had ruined his high school life and affected his life afterward. But now, things were different. He was no longer isolated. He had his parents, Chu Hong, an audience that loved him, and most importantly, Meng Chao.

He wasn’t alone anymore, so even if he couldn’t stay in the entertainment industry, so what? What mattered most to him was Meng Chao, not becoming a big star in the entertainment industry.

Besides, did Fang Ming Hui really have the power to make him unable to stay in this industry?

The more Lin Qin thought about it, the more confident he became, and fear no longer had a hold on him, making him look even more confident and radiant.

With love in his heart, he found the strength to face anything.

At this moment, Fang Ming Hui distinctly felt that Lin Qin had changed. Before, he could see signs of weakness in Lin Qin’s eyes, but now, those emotions seemed to have receded like a tide, replaced by strength and a subtle hint of mockery.

Fang Ming Hui inexplicably felt anger rising in him. Who gave Lin Qin the audacity to become strong? Shouldn’t he be weak under his control?

“Lin Qin, do you really think you’ve become famous?” In the end, Fang Ming Hui attributed Lin Qin’s changes to his belief that he was now popular, an international film emperor.

But in the ruthless world of capital, all this was worthless. Without financial backing, so what if he was an international film emperor? He wouldn’t even receive offers!

“You can think whatever you want.” Lin Qin didn’t want to argue any further. He simply said, “Mr. Fang, please understand one thing. Even if I, Lin Qin, end up with no roles and starving on the streets, I will never beg for your mercy and become your so-called private possession.”

Back in high school, when he faced campus violence, and even when he was forced to suffer from social phobia in the end, he never begged for mercy from the instigator, Fang Ming Hui. So he was even less likely to do so now.

Fang Ming Hui, however was infuriated by Lin Qin’s composed attitude. Lunging up, he pounced on him, saying with a sinister smile, “Lin Qin, it’s not up to you to decide.”

Over the years, he had dealt with many young stars who initially resisted him, pretending to be noble. However usually, after he’d had his way with them and offered some compensation, which one of those young stars hadn’t come back to flatter and beg him to do it again?

As long as…

As long as Lin Qin tasted the sweet benefits from him later, he was certain Lin Qin would be devoted to him completely.

Thinking this way, Fang Ming Hui became even more confident. Pressing Lin Qin’s shoulders down, he leaned in to kiss him.

Lin Qin was a piece of meat he had been thinking about for seven to eight years, and now that he was right in front of him, how could he not gobble him up?

Lin Qin didn’t expect that Fang Ming Hui would act so recklessly even in the living room that was full of cameras, causing his whole body to be a little shocked and dazed.

However just as Fang Ming Hui was about to kiss him, he finally snapped out of his daze and began to struggle fiercely.

“Fang Ming Hui, get lost!” Lin Qin didn’t know how to curse, so even in his desperate moment, the words that came out of his mouth were relatively mild.

However Lin Qin was genuinely panicked, because his voice rose and his tone trembled, his voice even cracking on the last word.

“Lin Qin, cooperate with me obediently, and after I’m done, I’ll invest in a big-budget film for you immediately.” Fang Ming Hui only thought Lin Qin was just playing hard to get, so his actions became increasingly forceful.

Just then, a figure rushed into the living room, and pulled him by the collar of his shirt from behind.

This person possessed tremendous strength that Fang Ming Hui was lifted into the air. But before Fang Ming Hui could react, a powerful punch landed squarely on his nose, causing blood to gush out instantly.

Fang Ming Hui only felt a sharp pain in his nose and reached out to touch it, only for his hand to be covered in blood.

He looked over in disbelief, but before he could see who it was, a swift and precise kick hit him squarely in the n*ts ruthlessly.

Now, he wasn’t able to hold back his scream as his voice echoed throughout the villa, startling even the birds resting in the bamboo forest outside.

Fang Ming Hui’s entire body curled up in pain as he covered his cr*tch and grimaced, with the pain there far surpassing the discomfort in his nose.

Tears streaming down his face, he looked up through the haze of agony and could vaguely make out a tall figure standing in front of him, radiating anger, obviously wanting to hit him again.

And as the scene in front of him became clearer, Fang Ming Hui finally recognized the tall figure.

“Meng Chao!” Fang Ming Hui said through gritted teeth, partly due to the pain and partly due to his anger.

“It’s me.” Meng Chao said in reply, his anger palpable, yet his voice carrying a chilling and icy coldness.
