Chapter 74 Most Urgent

Editor: Jodi

At this point, Huang Wenkai’s fans exploded, swarming the director’s Weibo comments to insult him, demanding an apology from the director, and demanding an apology from the crew of ‘Dark War’ because they had snubbed the fans.

However no matter how mad they went and how much they ranted like rabid dogs on Weibo, attacking anyone they could, it didn’t change the fact that Huang Wenkai and his fans had been slapped in the face hard by the crew of ‘Dark War’.

Didn’t you all say that Huang Wenkai was definitely the male lead in ‘Dark War’? Didn’t you all say that Lin Qin wasn’t even worthy to carry Huang Wenkai’s shoes? Then what about now? With the official announcement of ‘Dark War’, your idol doesn’t even deserve to have his name mentioned.

This round of face-slapping was screenshoted by a crowd of melon eating and spread across various forums, naturally triggering a wave of ‘ha ha ha ha ha’s’.

However after the laughter, more people turned their attention to the movie ‘Dark War’ itself.

The cast of the movie was undoubtedly impressive, featuring an internationally renowned director, two actors who had been nominated for international movie emperor awards, a domestic movie empress, a new generation of talented young actors, and many veteran actors whose names might not be known but whose faces were familiar.

With such a lineup, even if the script was terrible, the final outcome of the movie was bound to not be too terrible, especially since the screenwriter was also a big shot in the industry.

The audience was very much looking forward to this movie, anticipating a visual feast from watching these movie emperors and empresses act.

[Ha ha ha, am I the only one relieved that Huang Wenkai isn’t on this list? Otherwise his mere presence, together with that acting of his would have lowered the quality of the entire movie.]

[Agreed. In front of a bunch of veteran actors, Huang Wenkai better stay away. With his acting skills, only his delusional fans would still praise him to the skies. Watching him is really an eyesore.]

……

These comments were made by a large number of passersby. However aside from sending private messages to insult them and hopping about madly, Huang Wenkai’s fans had no other way to respond.

And holding their breath in anger and spurred on by their idol and fan leaders, they directed all their rage at Lin Qin, insulting him even more recklessly, and even starting to tag him and send him private messages.

However they couldn’t dominate the public square this time, because even though Lin Qin’s fans had been confused at the beginning, they reacted quickly.

Lin Qin’s fans had just barely surpassed ten million last month, a number which seemed pitifully small compared to Huang Wenkai’s tens of millions of fans.

However all his fans were real; he hadn’t bought a single fan, and so aside from a few inactive accounts, there were real people behind every account.

What’s more the relationship between Lin Qin’s fans and Meng Chao’s fans was good, unlike other CPs where the fans were fiercely independent.

The two fan groups were truly like one big family.

When [We Are Together] aired, the fans of the two actors regularly enjoyed their daily dose of dog food with a wave of ha ha ha’s, and when their idols were away filming, they focused on their own lives or came online to urge the other’s idol to post on Weibo.

Hence once Lin Qin’s fans started to confront Huang Wenkai’s fans, Meng Chao’s fans also joined in.

Originally, Huang Wenkai’s fans had no intention of clashing with Meng Chao’s fans as they knew full well the latter’s real combat power.

However the result, Meng Chao’s fans entered the fray!

Huang Wenkai’s fans were shocked. Weren’t we avoiding you? Why are you still attacking us?

Hence the moment Meng Chao’s fans stepped in, Huang Wenkai’s fans ran away with their tails tucked between their legs, all of them rubbed onto the ground without a chance to fight back.

This incident was temporarily concluded, with Huang Wenkai’s team probably realizing that they wouldn’t be able to gain anything and already being the subject of ridicule, quickly pivoted to releasing a scandal about Huang Wenkai in an attempt to divert the public’s attention.

And the other protagonist of this scandal was none other than Meng Ke!

And just as this scandal involving Huang Wenkai was fermenting online, the director of ‘Dark War’ was talking to Lin Qin and Meng Chao

The director spoke with a hint of apology, “This time we really need your help. We’ll need you to stay here for an extra month.”

After replacing Huang Wenkai, all the scenes he had filmed previously had to be done again, and since he had been the second male lead, he had quite a lot of screen time, including scenes with both Lin Qin and Meng Chao. Hence Lin Qin and Meng Chao couldn’t leave the crew and had to stay an extra month to re-film those scenes.

If it were other busy stars, this wouldn’t be feasible, as their schedules were already arranged, and so squeezing out a month’s time would be impossible.

However Lin Qin and Meng Chao were different.

Their routine was one film per year, and they neither took on advertising endorsements nor wished to attend events, hence they had half of the year free.

Originally, the two of them had planned to travel after the filming of ‘Dark War’, but now they just had to postpone their travel plans a little.

As Meng Chao thought about it, he realized that by the time they finished filming ‘Dark War’, the Spring Festival would be near, and so he started to form some plans in his mind.

And while he was thinking about this, the director had already gotten up to say goodbye.

Just as the director left, Meng Chao’s phone rang. It was Meng Ke.

And the moment he answered it, he heard Meng Ke wailing like a wolf over the phone, “Meng Chao, you have to testify for your big brother. The pictures online were taken sneakily during the crew’s wrap-up party.”

Meng Chao was a little confused, “What pictures?”

Meng Ke: “You haven’t seen them yet? Then hurry up and look at them. Han Zhi is even mad at me now!! It’s really urgent!!”

Meng Chao teased, “Could it be that you’re just too annoying and so Han Zhi is using this as an excuse to give you a time-out?”

Meng Ke: “….” This was really possible, since Han Zhi wouldn’t naively believe the paparazzi’s fabrications online.

Meng Ke: “I’m going to find Han Zhi.” Then saying this he hung up hurriedly, showing none of the mature steadiness expected of a CEO.

Lin Qin who had vaguely heard some of the conversation asked curiously, “What’s wrong?”

Meng Chao replied, “I’m also not sure, it seems to be some kind of scandal.”

And while saying this, he tapped open Weibo and indeed saw the news he was looking for on the hot search.

He clicked on it, however the top hot search topic wasn’t about the scandal, but rather an explanation of Huang Wenkai’s team’s shady manoeuvres that day, laying out the whole story clearly.

But as he scrolled through the posts, his expression grew darker.

And Lin Qin, sensing the change in his emotions, leaned over to see what was written on Weibo, however Meng Chao hid his phone quickly, saying lightly, “It’s nothing.”

Lin Qin was a bit suspicious but didn’t press further.

He had his own phone and so could check himself. He chuckled to himself.

Later that evening, when Lin Qin took out his phone to check what exactly had happened on Weibo, it happened that Meng Chao had just updated his Weibo status.

Meng ChaoV: “I advise certain people to learn to be human beings before doing anything.” @Huang Wenkai.
