Chapter 12.1

Editor: Jodi

“Xu Ge, this looks nice.” Lu Peng said. “Wear it next time during the self-critique session to give your ancestors glory.”

“My ancestors were more low-key.” Xu Ling told him, “So I’ll give you this opportunity.”

Xu Ling stuffed the battle clothes into his backpack, and as he did, he found a bag of sweet pastries and pulled it out.

Ning Sheng reached out, “Wow.”

Xu Ling glanced at him, thought for a moment, and then stuffed the pastries back into his bag.

Ning Sheng: “?” Wasn’t he sharing?

“Don’t you know the saying ‘give a peach to get a plum’?” He hinted frantically.

“I don’t know.” Xu Ling said. “I’m a fool.”

Ning Sheng: “….”

If he didn’t want to share, then he didn’t want to share, who wanted it.

Anyways this wasn’t the first time Xu Ling was guarding his food.

With one hand, Xu Ling slung his backpack over his shoulders and looked around. “Want to play on the slide?”

Ning Sheng: “Not interested.”

There were indeed quite a few people waiting in line at the slide, so Xu Ling quickly saw the inflatable trampoline.

The inflatable trampoline in the zoo was shaped like a castle.

“I’m going to take the princess home.” Xu Ling said.

“I’m not going! Let go of me!” Ning Sheng resisted strongly.

The trampoline was very dirty, trampled on by people every day, and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years.

As soon as Ning Sheng got close, he could smell the scent of inflatable plastic and sweaty socks.

In just half a day, Xu Ling’s followers seemed to have multiplied, surrounding him all the way until he carried him onto the trampoline.

Ning Sheng sat at the edge of the soft trampoline door.

Hmm… it was surprisingly soft and a bit fun.

He stood out from the other cubs as he sat at the castle’s entrance with his head tilted slightly. Passing visitors couldn’t help but look at him.

“This cub is exceptionally good-looking.” Someone said. “He looks like that little boy Ning Lan brought to the awards ceremony before.”

“I doubt it. A child from such an affluent background wouldn’t appear in a shitty place like this.”

“I think he’s even cuter than Ning Lan’s nephew. That little young master is too lively. This one is so cute, aww, Auntie wants to hug him.”

“Don’t you want to play with the other kids? So antisocial.”

Ning Sheng held onto the pillar of the inflatable castle and, using the movements of others bouncing, slowly began to move up and down.

Rebirth was so worth it. He was even playing on a trampoline.

Someone crawled up beside him and poked his shoulder.

“Come and bounce.” Xu Ling told him.

Ning Sheng had just taken off his shoes and his thin legs, covered by shorts, rested against the edge of the trampoline. He had on two black socks that revealed ankles that were clearly pale and somewhat sickly.

Ning Sheng gripped a piece of the trampoline’s material tightly with one hand and patted his legs which had regained a little bit of strength with the other: “Should I use my head to bounce?”

The little devil king seemed to think for a second, grabbed his wrist, and pulled his hand away from the trampoline.

Ning Sheng: “???”

Xu Ling bounced in place, launching him into the air and then back down quite a distance.

“Perfect.” Xu Ling said.

“Ah ah ah ah ah!” Ning Sheng’s brain was getting scrambled as he was bounced all the way to the innermost part of the trampoline.

The trampoline wobbled, and he couldn’t grab onto anything as the little devil king’s grinning face in front of him looked increasingly maniacal.

“Wow, I want to try too!” Lu Peng turned his head.

“Get lost.” Xu Ling said.

“Ai, okay.” Lu Peng left.

Ning Sheng lay in the innermost part of the castle, his hair and clothes messed up as he gasped softly.

“I haven’t played this in a long time.” Xu Ling told him.

Ning Sheng glared at him. “I can tell.”

Just how long had he been holding this craziness in?

“Princess, this is what you call a trampoline.”

Ning Sheng, “Did you think it was a bed? Huh?”

He was panting heavily, and his dark hair on his forehead was damp with sweat.

“You idiot.” He told him, “crazy dog, scoundrel.”

“Anything else?” Xu Ling pulled him up and gave the trampoline another shake.

“And…..” Ning Sheng gasped, “This!”

Xu Ling: “….”

Twenty minutes later, the head teacher called them all together and removed the playful cubs from the trampoline one by one.

When it was Xu Ling’s turn, the teacher noticed and asked, “Why is there a handprint on your face?”

“That’s a man’s medal.” Ning Sheng said, “He deserves it.”

Xu Ling put his arm around Lu Peng’s shoulder, smiling brightly.

Ning Sheng was carried back to his wheelchair by the teacher.

Then suddenly finding himself on level ground, he felt a bit disoriented.

“Haven’t had enough fun yet?” The teacher asked with a smile. “When there are festivals in town, they will also have trampolines. You can go play then.”

“It’s not that.” Ning Sheng replied, looking down. “It wasn’t fun at all.”
