Chapter 53.2

Editor: Jodi

Back to square one, the two tall men were once again locked in a silent but intense staring contest, with Min Shoubei’s hostility even stronger than when he had first arrived. The tension palpable, ready to explode at any moment.

No way, they’re not really going to fight right?

In a flash of inspiration, Shen Ci immediately shut his eyes, clutching his stomach in pain as he let out a dramatic “Ah—” and collapsed onto the bed.

It was time to showcase his upgraded “vase-like” acting skills!

The moment he closed his eyes, his hearing became sharper, so he was able to hear the hurried footsteps that were coming closer clearly.

“Baby, what’s wrong with you? Is your stomach hurting again?”

“What kind of hospital is this?!”

“Xiao Ci? President Lu step aside, I’m calling a nurse.”

Shen Ci opened his eyes weakly, his long lashes now wet with tears. His face was pale, and his lips had lost their color: “You guys, stop arguing. You’re making me feel so upset, my stomach hurts again…”

Emotions could indeed affect one’s physical condition, especially since Shen Ci had just had acute gastroenteritis.

“Okay, we won’t argue…..” Lu Xiao immediately promised softly.

Min Shoubei’s expression twisted slightly, however he quickly replied with a cold En”, although his face seemed to flush a little.

There was both distress and guilt in Lu Xiao’s eyes. He wanted to bend down and kiss Shen Ci’s forehead to comfort him, however feeling Min Shoubei’s intense presence, he forced himself to hold back.

To Lu Xiao, Min Shoubei himself wasn’t hard to deal with, but if he was really Shen Ci’s biological father….. he suddenly felt a vein twitch on his forehead.

Before long, several doctors, followed by a large group of nurses, rushed in, looking panicked: “Mr. Shen, how are you feeling?!”

The doctors and nurses all looked as if their own mothers were about to die in front of them, as if they were facing a formidable enemy as they hurriedly and efficiently prepared all the instruments, swearing to check Shen Ci from the tips of his hair to his toenails.

Could they not be nervous! If anything happened to Shen Ci, President Lu would definitely make sure their hospital went down in flames.

“???” Shen Ci was almost scared out of his act by this grand scene. However regaining his composure, he touched his stomach softly and weakly, continuing to act like a frail and weak little white flower: “I’m much better now, maybe it’s because my mood has improved. I…. I just want to lie down and rest for a bit now.”

“Don’t disturb him.” Lu Xiao frowned immediately, waving his hand. And not complaining, the doctors and nurses ran out hurriedly.

Lu Xiao tucked Shen Ci into the quilt, reminded him of many old-fashioned health preservation tips softly, then his deep dark eyes turned to look at Min Shoubei.

“Mr. Min, we should have a talk.”

Min Shoubei stared at his hand that was on the blanket over Shen Ci, then said in a frosty tone: “I was thinking the same.”

And with that, the two of them stood up and began walking out.

Looks like I’ve bluffed my way through…..

“Little Uncle, Mr. Min, don’t fight.” Shen Ci added weakly.

Lu Xiao and Min Shoubei turned around at the same time and made the same “en” sound, like a copy-paste with a mirrored effect.

Shen Ci almost burst out laughing, however he held on, refusing to relax, continuing to show a standard white lotus smile with three parts frailness, three parts exhaustion, and four parts understanding, mentally giving himself a 360° spinning, fancy thumbs up!

Sigh, all his overnight studying and learning, with him even seeking guidance from senior bigshots on acting skills shamelessly, hadn’t been in vain.

Even the big demon king had a day where he was fooled by him. Shen Ci’s little nose almost lifted up to the sky proudly.

“Don’t move around.” Min Shoubei suddenly came back, instructing worriedly, afraid that the little son he had just found would be abducted by someone.

Shen Ci nodded, a classic illustration from a language textbook floating in his mind, and for a moment he even suspected that Min Shoubei’s next words would be, “I’m going to buy a few oranges…”

Min Shoubei went out to talk with Lu Xiao, while Min Song stayed behind to take care of Shen Ci.

She poured him a cup of hot water, then let it cool first, her lips pursing in a light smile: “Xiao Ci, the world is really small.”

Staying with Min Song, the atmosphere lightened and relaxed a lot, and Shen Ci, too lazy to keep pretending to be weak and sickly, soon returned to his cheerful, laughing self.

Min Song told him that Min Shoubei hadn’t cared about entertainment industry trends at all in the past, nor did he bother to pay attention to the idol-type celebrities he didn’t like, so he didn’t even know someone like Shen Ci who was constantly on the hot search.

This time had just been a coincidence. She had been watching his new drama when Min Shoubei accidentally caught a glimpse of him.

According to Min Song’s description, Min Shoubei’s eyes had turned red on the spot, then he snatched it up like a madman to watch.

That very day, he rushed to the small county town where Shen Ci was filming his variety show, and while he was asking around for directions, pictures of him were taken secretly by passersby then posted online.

The high and mighty artistic genius director Min Shoubei, might actually be his biological father.

Shen Ci felt like he was dreaming. However he wasn’t awake, nor was he touched. He just felt that it was extremely unbelievable.

However, if he really was Min Shoubei’s son—Min Shoubei would probably be very disappointed, right?

After all, he was mixed up in all kinds of web dramas, and was labeled a vase, with his good looks overshadowing his talent. Min Shoubei had even publicly dissed this type of traffic artist.

“Xiao Ci, there’s something else I need to tell you.” Min Song hesitated, wanting to speak but holding back.

Shen Ci nodded obediently: “Okay, okay.”

Seeing her expression, he knew that what she was about to say was bound to be shocking.

However after going through such a fantastical reunion, he felt that there was nothing else he couldn’t handle.

Min Song: “….. I heard from one of Dad’s old classmates that, actually, back in the art academy, Mom was also called a vase. And yet Dad was the one who chased after her the most desperately, loving her to death, almost kneeling down and crying for her to agree.”

Shen Ci: ?

Min Song: “So even though he says he hates it, deep down he actually loves vases, so you definitely don’t need to worry about him hating you, in fact, he’s particularly averse to someone strong like me…”

Shen Ci: ??

Min Song: “And there’s more, the film script he wrote for Mom twenty years ago….. there’s a high chance he’ll force you to play the lead role after revisions, so you’d better prepare yourself mentally.”

Shen Ci: ???

What happened to him supposedly disliking idol-type actors who only had looks going for them!

What happened to him supposedly never using a vase actor in any film!

This collapse of character, this reversal of treatment, this face-slapping… Shen Ci clutched his heart, his eyes brimming with tears, he really felt like he couldn’t handle it anymore.
