Chapter 79.2

Editor: Princess

After yesterday’s rain, the weather the next morning was exceptionally good.

Shen Ci rubbed his slightly aching waist as he walked out of the tent, then immediately run into Min Shoubei, which startled him.

Min Shoubei narrowed his eyes and looked him up and down, his gaze moving from his neck to Shen Ci’s hand on his waist. After a long moment, he made a contemptuous grunt from his throat, his expression looking displeased.

“…” Shen Ci was frightened into quickly removing his hand and putting on a brilliant smile. “Dad, is there something you need?”

Min Shoubei snorted coldly. “Pack your things. We’re going down the mountain.”

The tent flap opened, and Lu Xiao, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, walked out.

His lips curved into an elegant, light smile as he extended his hand to Min Shoubei.

“Mr. Min, good morning.”

Shen Ci’s heart immediately rose to his throat. Fortunately, Min Shoubei still gave him some face and shook hands with Lu Xiao, although with a sour expression.

With Min Shoubei nearby, Shen Ci didn’t dare cling to Lu Xiao and moved between the two men nervously.

If they started fighting… at least he could mediate.

“The staff member who slandered you has been fired and will probably be blacklisted in the industry.” Min Shoubei glanced at Shen Ci and said indifferently. “Just treat her like a fart and let it go. The incident won’t affect you.”

Shen Ci quickly nodded obediently, cowering like a quail between his boyfriend and father.

A suffocating awkward silence immediately spread.

Min Shoubei crossed his arms and looked back and forth between the two coldly. “Show some restraint. If emotional problems affect filming, I won’t show mercy. Don’t test my bottom line.”

Min Shoubei’s tone was cold and hard. Shen Ci lowered his head guiltily. “Mm-hmm…”

Wait, Shen Ci was suddenly confused. How did Min Shoubei know they were together?

He began making a suspect list again, full of indignation.

“…” Seeing Shen Ci lowering his head submissively, apparently feeling wronged and sad, Min Shoubei couldn’t help but feel irritated.

Min Shoubei wore a “I really can’t do anything with you” expression of disgust, reaching out stiffly to ruffle Shen Ci’s messy hair, saying unnaturally, “I wasn’t scolding you. Don’t act spoiled, and don’t you dare cry!”

“?” Shen Ci was baffled but didn’t dare speak.

While ruffling his precious son’s hair, Min Shoubei glared at Lu Xiao with cold eyes. “As for you… you’d better control yourself during filming and keep your hands off Xiao Bao. Don’t think I’m an idiot.”

Shen Ci’s ears turned a light shade of red. Thinking back carefully, he and Lu Xiao had indeed been too obvious…

Min Shoubei worked in the arts and had exceptionally sharp intuition. Just now, when he was holding his waist, Min Shoubei had definitely figured it out.

“Ah, I need to go pack with Brother Zhang. You two chat!”

Shen Ci was too embarrassed to stay any longer and quickly escaped, leaving only two tall men facing each other wordlessly outside the tent.

Without his little son to mediate, the two men couldn’t find any common ground. Min Shoubei turned around coldly and left.

The crew made their way down the mountain in a grand procession. After resting for half a day, they started filming again in the evening.

Lu Xiao indeed stayed for several more days. When Shen Ci went to film, Lu Xiao handled business affairs. The two could always find free time to go shopping and watch movies, just like an ordinary young couple, secretive yet warm.

When sleeping at night, Shen Ci was worried about crossing the line again and violating his father’s instructions, however he was reluctant to sleep in separate rooms from Lu Xiao. He racked his brains over this dilemma.

“What’s all this for?” Lu Xiao raised an eyebrow, looking down at Shen Ci who was bustling about on the bed.

The large hotel bed was piled with many stuffed animals, which Shen Ci arranged neatly in the center of the bed, creating two single beds.

Shen Ci hugged a large shark and lay on his back on the right side of the bed. “It’s the dividing line! I’m here, and little uncle, you’re over there. This way we can have pure conversations under the covers!”

Lu Xiao picked up a round, plump cat, his smile deepening. “Little friend, what grade are you in this year?”

Shen Ci giggled. “Middle class in kindergarten.”

After turning off the lights, Shen Ci hugged the human-sized shark and closed his eyes happily. “Little uncle, good night!”

However, within half an hour, he was tossing and turning, going from hugging the shark to clamping it between his legs, to finally kicking it to the floor, all without any sign of sleepiness.

Shen Ci was quite depressed. Usually, he could fall asleep instantly in Lu Xiao’s arms, even without feeling tired.

He lifted his head secretly and looked toward Lu Xiao’s side through the row of stuffed animals.

Lu Xiao was lying on his side facing him, eyes closed tightly, sleeping soundly. His sharp, handsome face was now peaceful and gentle.

Shen Ci simply sat up quietly, then seeing that Lu Xiao was holding a small dog toy, couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose, staring at the innocent toy in resentment.

Then the jealous Shen Ci crawled over silently, extending his sinful hands to extract the dog toy carefully.

He threw the toy to the floor and quietly slipped into Lu Xiao’s vacant arms, nestling against him.

His nose was immediately filled with the faint bitter fragrance. His lips curved, satisfied as he closed his eyes.

In the familiar embrace, he soon couldn’t keep his eyes open and fell asleep.

Hearing the person in his arms breathing steadily, Lu Xiao opened his eyes slowly, pulled the person closer with a helpless smile, then they slept in each other’s arms.

**

The days together always passed too quickly. Lu Xiao had to return to the country for work after just a few days.

After his boyfriend left, Shen Ci’s daily entertainment was once again limited to playing with dogs and gaming. Fortunately, the acting work was still interesting, and studying scripts and characters each day was always absorbing.

Before anyone realized it, the filming work had gradually entered its final stages and was progressing remarkably smoothly.

On the day they were shooting the film’s climactic scene, Shen Ci was exceptionally serious. He had begun cultivating his emotions from the moment he woke up, constantly clutching the script while contemplating it, attempting to approach Wen Yu’s psychological state.

The filming location was set on the rooftop of the school’s laboratory building, where various departments were conducting final confirmations with Min Shoubei.

Shen Ci sat on the rooftop terrace. Since entering the filming location, he had not spoken a single word, merely gazing thoughtfully into the distance, completely transforming himself into Wen Yu.

The wind scattered his hair that hung down to his chin. The noisy wind passed through the quiet person, whistling and laughing as it rushed toward the distance.

Min Shoubei had specifically instructed that the crew members should maintain quiet while working. The scene was filled only with the clanging sounds of equipment colliding, along with occasional scattered conversations.

After Min Shoubei had arranged everything, he couldn’t help but look toward Shen Ci’s silhouette, becoming somewhat lost in thought.

The resemblance was too striking. They were virtually the same person.

Whether it was connected bloodlines or a profound understanding of the character, Shen Ci had completely transformed into her today.

A long-absent pain arose in Min Shoubei’s heart. He took several deep breaths before gradually regaining his composure.

In the early part of the script, Wen Yu, portrayed by Shen Ci, had become good friends with Ah Sheng, finding traces of solace in each other within a world of universal loneliness.

The script seemed to consistently follow a healing and gentle direction, but today would bring the reversal that would explosively deepen the subtle melancholic undertones shrouding the entire film, highlighting the true theme that permeated the entire movie.

Yesterday’s scene was filmed in the classroom, depicting the end of examinations and the beginning of joyful vacation time.

Ah Sheng asked his friend excitedly, “Summer vacation starts tomorrow! What do you want to do?”

Wen Yu propped his cheek on his hand boredly. “Commit suicide.”

The casual tone was like saying “read books at home.”

Brother Zhang watched Shen Ci sitting motionlessly in the distance, feeling somewhat dazed. The more he observed, the more he felt that Shen Ci was genuinely ill, rather than merely acting out the script.

This version of Shen Ci made his heart ache painfully.

The phone in his pocket suddenly rang. Brother Zhang walked to a more distant location to answer it.

The call was from Yu Yang, who spoke with an anxious tone: “Mr. Zhang! There’s someone… who says he’s here to find Teacher Xiao Shen. He brought many bodyguards, it’s so frightening! What should we do, Mr. Zhang…”

Brother Zhang’s brows furrowed. “Did you ask who he is?”

Yu Yang replied, “I asked, I asked. He said his name is Wen Ran…”
