Chapter 28.2 Birthday party accident

Editor: Jodi

On the day of the birthday party, Shen Ci was promptly dragged out of bed by Shen Bie who had returned home to get ready to leave.

The reason? It was because the venue was simply too far away!

Lu Xiao’s vacation estate was absurdly massive, complete with orchards, wineries, a lake, a golf course… it had it all, but it was far from the city. It took a good one or two hours to go over the mountains just to get there.

With such a vast estate, organizing a party was indeed a massive undertaking that required a lot of preparation. However didn’t Shen Ci have his big brother?

Shen Bie had taken a leave of absence specifically to come back for Shen Ci’s birthday. Even before he had arrived home, he had already arranged everything clearly, with various planning teams already on-site, preparing for the celebration.

His big brother had a meticulous style and rarely made mistakes. Otherwise, their father wouldn’t have been so confident to send him to explore new ventures, so leaving the party in his capable hands was without a doubt the best decision.

Shen Ci enjoyed it happily, because in the future, Shen Bie would be Bai Ziwei’s, so he wanted to savor the last bit of motherly service.

He wondered if Shen Bie would treat Bai Ziwei as well as…..

“Lazy pig, hurry up!” Shen Bie kicked Shen Ci in the butt, interrupting his daydreaming.

Shen Ci glared back at him angrily and immediately retracted the words he had just been about to say.

This kind of stinky big brother, whoever wanted him should keep him!

True to his word, Lu Xiao didn’t break his promise, because shortly after Shen Ci and his big brother arrived, Lu Xiao’s car also pulled up.

Shen Ci was pleasantly surprised to see that Lu Xiao had arrived even earlier than most of the guests.

However after talking with them for a short while, Lu Xiao went to the villa’s study to work, because his job was still keeping him busy.

Since there wasn’t much to do at the moment, Shen Ci decided not to disturb him and planned to call him out when everyone was ready to start the party.

As it got closer to the evening, Shen Ci’s invited friends started arriving one by one, and he was almost overwhelmed with hosting duties.

In addition to Wei Shuo, and his friends from when he had been spending crazily, Shen Ci had invited the acquaintances he had made recently—- Zhang Ge, Yang Ning, Xia Qing Qing, and even Min Song.

Unlike his previous leisurely friends, many of these industry insiders were extremely busy and could easily earn millions in just an hour, so Shen Ci had mentally prepared himself for some rejections, but to his surprise, they all accepted the invitations.

Shen Ci suddenly felt a great deal of pressure, afraid that he wouldn’t be able to host them well….

As soon as Yang Ning arrived, he walked over to Shen Ci, slung an arm around his shoulder, and with a flattering tone, asked, “Wealthy idol, are you interested in sponsoring me?”

Shen Ci: “…?”

Yang Ning added quickly, “I promise not to cause trouble, I’ll be a good canary. How about it?”

Shen Ci looked at Yang Ning who was close to 185 cm tall and had a wide frame that could fit two of him and rolled his eyes silently, “Canary, my foot…”

Yang Ning didn’t get to talk with Shen Ci for too long because Wei Shuo arrived and chased him away viciously. The two of them traded harsh words and insults for a while before Yang Ning left to another area reluctantly to have fun, making funny faces at Wei Shuo before he left.

Shen Ci who was on the side stifled his laughter frantically, suspecting that these two were destined to be natural enemies.

Wei Shuo, seeing that no one was around, walked close to Shen Ci with a serious expression and pointed to a figure in the distance. “Is that person…. Bai Ziwei?”

Shen Ci froze. “Huh? I didn’t invite him.”

Wei Shuo sneered. “Just look at who’s beside him and you’ll understand.”

Shen Ci looked closely and was surprised to see that it was Shao Jinhuan beside Bai Ziwei.

Shen Ci was confused, because the last time they met, Shao Jinhuan seemed to have a very strained relationship with Bai Ziwei, so why would he bring him along as a guest?

“Ah… forget it, forget it, a visitor is a guest.” Shen Ci decided to ignore it. Today was supposed to be a joyful day, so he didn’t want to think about unpleasant matters.

Wei Shuo, on the other hand, was more cautious, keeping a close eye on Bai Ziwei’s figure. He had a feeling this guy was here to mess things up.

He was just a flea, so he couldn’t understand why Shen Ci was afraid of him.

Following the protocol, all the guests initially gathered at the villa to get acquainted before moving to other areas of the estate to enjoy themselves.

Seeing that most of the guests he had invited had arrived and that he had to stay here to host, Shen Ci asked his big brother to help him call Lu Xiao down to join the party.

Fortunately, many of Shen Ci’s friends were sociable and had already started mingling, making the atmosphere lively.

Shen Ci saw a friend who had always been skilled at seducing attempting to charm Xia Qing Qing but failing, and then turning to aim at Min Song who looked disinterested as she gazed at the distant mountains, walking over.

Shen Ci didn’t whether to laugh or cry. He really knew how to choose people.

He poured a glass of wine and decided to go over to help his friend out of the situation.

As he was about to pass by the swimming pool, Shen Ci’s brows furrowed and he took a few steps outside. It couldn’t be this time….

“Bang!”

Shen Ci was caught off guard as he was pushed violently into the water with a loud ‘putong’, causing a loud splash. Then there was a consecutive loud sound of something else falling into the water with a ‘plunk plunk’ sound, followed by water splashing madly everywhere.

Everything happened so suddenly that Shen Ci immediately choked on a nose full of water, which rushed down his windpipe and into his burning lungs.

“Help…. Glug glug…. Shen Ci pushed me into the water wu….”

Bai Ziwei’s shrill cries, the intense sound of the water and the sharp pain in Shen Ci’s chest gradually faded away from his senses.

Because of the unexpected drowning and lack of oxygen, Shen Ci instinctively thrashed around a few times and then stopped moving, his brain quickly going blank.

A deafening ringing and roaring swept over him, and he didn’t even have time to continue being afraid. Slowly, he sank deeper into the darkness, along with his fading consciousness…
