Chapter 63.2

Editor: Princess

“Hello?” A deep, smooth voice answered.

“…” Brother Zhang wasn’t even surprised. “President Lu, is Xiao Ci there?”

“He’s asleep.” Lu Xiao replied succinctly.

Brother Zhang’s eyelid twitched. Why did Lu Xiao’s voice sound kind of hoarse…? They didn’t do something strenuous first thing in the morning, right?

When Lu Xiao first said he’d be living at Shen Ci’s place and personally driving him to school, he had already seen this coming. Sure enough, the little lamb had walked straight into the lion’s den.

What happened to just “pursuing” him? Why did it feel like he had skipped straight to home base?

“He still has class today, right?” He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to remind Lu Xiao.

Lu Xiao calmly replied, “I called in a leave of absence.”

“…” Brother Zhang got up, opened the window, and lit a cigarette.

“Did the headquarters PR team pick up the report yet?”

Brother Zhang exhaled a smoke ring and gave him a brief rundown. While he was talking, he vaguely heard a familiar sound from the other end of the call.

Shen Ci, still half-asleep, reached for Lu Xiao’s arm. “Little uncle… go back to sleep. No phone calls.”

Lu Xiao pulled him into his arms, pressed a kiss between his brows, and placed the phone next to his ear. “It’s Brother Zhang.”

Shen Ci, still drowsy, greeted him lazily.

“Ancestor, you’re really just sleeping through everything? I wasted my worry on you.” Brother Zhang chuckled.

Shen Ci didn’t even open his eyes. “What’s there to worry about? I’m not the one who’s sick…”

Just now, seeing that Lu Xiao still couldn’t fall asleep, Shen Ci had climbed under the blanket, saying he’d help him sleep.

But within minutes, he himself had dozed off, completely forgetting about comforting Lu Xiao.

“Hopeless…” Brother Zhang sighed, realizing Shen Ci probably hadn’t even checked the news. He had no choice but to explain the situation to him.

“Huh?! It aired last night? I totally forgot!” Shen Ci instantly woke up, sitting up straight.

Brother Zhang laughed. “You really live up to your ‘pretty face, empty head’ reputation. But don’t worry, your fans are reacting pretty well. Go check it out yourself.”

Brother Zhang hung up, and Shen Ci immediately opened the trending list. Sure enough, “Yunxiao President Pursues Shen Ci” was sitting at the top, steady as a rock. His eyelid twitched.

His Weibo account had been @-ed thousands of times. Thankfully, he had turned off private messages, otherwise his inbox would’ve exploded by now.

“This is all little uncle’s fault.” He pouted at Lu Xiao, his deer-like eyes wide with accusation. “Announcing it so suddenly, without even discussing it with me… My fans are definitely going to roast you alive. And I’m going to lose a ton of followers. Ugh…”

Lu Xiao pinched his cheek gently, smiling warmly. “You won’t. It’s just a one-sided pursuit on my end.”

No way it wouldn’t affect him… Shen Ci shot him a glare. There were plenty of cautionary tales from others before him.

Ugh, whatever.

Since he had already agreed to Lu Xiao’s pursuit last night, this day was bound to come sooner or later.

Might as well rip the band-aid off now and get it over with. He took a deep breath and clicked into the trending topic, already bracing himself for the worst.

“This ship is so sweet, I’m going to die from the sugar overload! Deer fans, wake up! It’s New Year’s!”

“As a ‘mom fan,’ I was against it at first. But after watching the video of Lu Xiao carrying him out, covered in blood… Damn, I switched sides. He protected our cub so well. I’m legit crying.”

“Lu Xiao’s kind of smooth. Usually, these CEOs just buy their lovers out, right? But he actually said he wants to ‘pursue’ him. So doting. So sweet.”

“Wait, just pursuing? I thought they were already together, judging by how close they are! [pic][pic]…”

“Eh, I’m a mom fan + face fan, so I don’t care! Even if they really do get together, as long as cub keeps showing up, I’m good!”

“…”

Shen Ci kept scrolling in disbelief. “???”

“So friendly…?” He was shocked. His follower count had dropped a little, but the change was barely noticeable.

Lu Xiao, who had somewhat recovered his strength, propped himself up and wrapped an arm around Shen Ci.

Shen Ci instinctively leaned against his collarbone, looking up at him with starry eyes and a bright smile. “Little uncle, my fans seem pretty supportive. It’s kind of amazing.”

Lu Xiao lowered his gaze slightly, his deep voice warm and gentle. “Mhmm…”

They were sitting so close that their breaths intertwined. Shen Ci blinked in a daze, his heart suddenly thudding a little faster.

Lu Xiao was getting more and more good-looking that he didn’t even dare look directly at him.

He leaned in and kissed Lu Xiao on the lips, then quickly buried his face in Lu Xiao’s chest, his arms wrapping tightly around him.

Somehow, he was hoping for something.

But Lu Xiao didn’t respond.

Shen Ci blinked, confused.

“The things you said last night…” Lu Xiao’s chest vibrated slightly. “Can you say them again?”

No wonder he hadn’t grabbed him and kissed him back, he was waiting for this.

Shen Ci’s face burned. He mumbled, “It’s daytime… saying that stuff now is kind of embarrassing…”

He thought he heard a soft chuckle above his head, followed by a few light kisses pressed into his hair.

Shen Ci bit his lip and smiled secretly. He was waiting for Lu Xiao to say something, but the man remained silent, simply holding him.

Peeking up, he realized that Lu Xiao was staring blankly out the window, his dark eyes calm yet carrying a hint of exhaustion.

Was little uncle upset?

He shifted up a bit, tilting his head and pressing his lips to Lu Xiao’s. He fumbled a little, trying to deepen the kiss, but Lu Xiao closed his eyes and let him take the lead—until he gently took over.

Maybe it was because he was still sick, Shen Ci thought, feeling a little dizzy as he wrapped his arms around Lu Xiao’s neck.
