Chapter 61.1
Editor: Princess
Shen Ci had no idea what to say, and was feeling a bit awkward, so he just sent a “laugh-cry” emoji.
[Classmate Lu An]: But you have real talent, the kind that makes people jealous.
[Classmate Lu An]: Don’t waste your potential. It’d be a shame. Try stepping out of the comfort zone of idol dramas. I’m looking forward to sparring with you again someday.
Then, he sent over five Word documents: reflections on acting class, reflections on line-reading practice, a compilation of lecture notes…
Shen Ci: ???
He was completely dumbfounded. He clicked on one at random, skimmed it, and immediately felt his scalp tingle. It was just like back in school, when the top students made him feel completely powerless.
The documents were a whopping 20,000 words long, packed with valuable content, and even had neatly organized tables of contents.
[Coca-Cola Baked Sea Urchin]: This is…?
[Classmate Lu An]: These are my reflection notes from the past few years. They might be helpful for you.
[Classmate Lu An]: But hands-on training is the most important. I suggest you apply at the academy to join a professional training program.
Shen Ci was caught off guard by the generosity. He’d heard from their teacher that Lu An was the best student in their year, so was this top student planning to carry him to success?
He sent a cute little flower-throwing emoji as thanks and even invited Lu An to have dinner together sometime.
Lu An just replied with a casual “Mm” before heading off to train. The time he had used to chat with Shen Ci was just squeezed in between his busy schedule.
Shen Ci hadn’t expected to run into such a kind and talent-loving academic ace on his first day of sitting in on classes. Feeling motivated, he downloaded all the notes onto his computer and opened the first one.
Two minutes later, as expected, he was so sleepy he couldn’t keep his eyes open. He flopped straight onto his bed.
“Sure enough… studying is the ultimate cure for insomnia…”
He mumbled that to himself before passing out completely.
He was deep asleep when he groggily heard his phone ringing. Frowning, he reached for it with his eyes still shut.
“Hello…” He swiped to answer without even looking, his voice lazy and drowsy.
“You were sleeping?”
It was Min Shoubei!
Shen Ci snapped awake as if someone had dumped a bucket of ice water on him. He sat up quickly and, trying to play it cool, said, “Nope, I was just practicing how to sound lazy and relaxed when waking up.”
The person on the other end chuckled. Shen Ci doubled down on his nonsense. “Dad, did I sound convincing? I bet I totally fooled you just now.”
No way was he letting Min Shoubei find out he’d been slacking off and taking a nap. Otherwise, he was pretty sure he’d be obliterated on the spot.
Min Shoubei laughed. “That’s what you call method acting. I’m not strict enough to forbid naps, am I?”
“Rest up properly. This afternoon, your agent will pick you up and take you to the company. From now on, all your acting and body movement training will be done there. I’ve already hired your instructors.”
Busted. And completely arranged down to the last detail. Shen Ci sighed, “Alright…”
“I have to go back to Country M for work. From now on, your manager or Lu Xiao will be the one picking you up. You’ll leave at 7 AM every day. No sleeping in, no being late, got it?”
Waking up this early even without filming… Shen Ci whined inside but grudgingly agreed, “Got it.”
Life is hard, the cub sighed.
But wait… Didn’t Min Shoubei hate him getting close to Lu Xiao? And now he was actually okay with Lu Xiao driving him around?
Min Shoubei’s furious roar that first meeting at the hospital was still fresh in his memory, and just thinking about it gave him chills.
And earlier, it was Lu Xiao who came to pick him up. Had they secretly signed some kind of peace treaty?
Shen Ci asked directly, and Min Shoubei, clearly annoyed, said, “You’re happy now right? Now you can date Lu Xiao openly?”
Shen Ci, feeling guilty for some reason, mumbled, “What? We’re not dating…”
Min Shoubei scoffed, “Not dating? You two are practically glued together 24/7. You think your old man is blind?”
“Uh…” Shen Ci blinked blankly. “Is it that obvious?”
He’d always been clingy with Lu Xiao before. Compared to that, it was just a few more kisses now…
Min Shoubei let out a cold snort. “If you really want to be with him and I try to stop you, what would I do if you two elope? I just got my son back, I’m not losing you again.”
Elope? What was he even saying? Shen Ci’s ears slowly turned red. “Dad, you’re getting more and more ridiculous.”
Min Shoubei went quiet for a moment before speaking again, his tone a little awkward. “Anyway, Lu Xiao seems decent and reliable. What’s more he treats you well.”
Shen Ci tried to press for more, but Min Shoubei dodged the question and quickly hung up.
Shen Ci: ?
What was that all about? He still had no idea why Min Shoubei’s attitude had suddenly changed.
But, well… Dad kind of, sort of approved of Lu Xiao now, so that was a good thing, right?
He was happy for a bit, until he realized that something was off.
Lu Xiao was the one chasing him, so why was he getting excited that the obstacles in Lu Xiao’s way were disappearing?
His face grew hotter and hotter as he buried it into his pillow, but the stupid grin on his lips just wouldn’t go away.
Didn’t this mean… he actually liked Lu Xiao too? And wanted to be with him?
