“You’re spouting nonsense!” A sharp, shrill voice rang out immediately—it was Jiang Shu.

“Take this knife and do something with it that will make me satisfied and I’ll settle the score with just you.”

Images of his young son just starting elementary school, his smiling wife, and his frail, elderly mother flashed through his mind. …… Tears streamed down his face. He had sworn to leave his shady past behind, so how did he let greed cloud his judgment and fall for this setup?

It was all that damned b*tch’s fault! She ruined his life!

Suddenly, he broke free from the villagers who were restraining him, grabbed the sharp knife, and with a furious roar, slashed straight across Jiang Shu’s face—

The crowd was startled by Jiang Shu’s piercing scream behind them, however none of them dared to turn around to look.

Tonight’s events were already terrifying enough. Their nerves couldn’t handle any more.

“They must’ve started fighting.” Wei Shuo said calmly. “Anyways it serves them both right.”

Group emotions were always easy to stir up. Everyone nodded in agreement, and their discussions reignited their disgust and hatred toward someone as rotten as Jiang Shu.

Not long after, the police sirens blared from the town’s 110 unit. They arrived to take both of them away in handcuffs.

However Jiang Shu had been slashed brutally from her forehead to her chin. Her face was bloody and twisted, completely disfigured, and she had nearly bled out and gone into shock. Medical staff had to take her to the town alongside the police….

That night, when Shen Ci woke up, Lu Xiao’s eyes opened immediately as well.

The two of them were lying together on a temporary bed that had been set up in the village clinic. Shen Ci had just finished an IV drip.
