Chapter 58.1

The blood drops scattered and fell half a meter above Shen Ci’s head. Then a ringing sound filled his ears, dizziness swept through his brain like a storm, and everything started to distort.
A drop of warm blood splashed into his eye, his vision was suddenly flooded with red, and bloody tears slid weakly down his cheeks, silent and grief-stricken.
Through the blurry red haze, the man he had always seen as godlike was clutching his chin and neck, bright red blood spurting continuously from between his pale fingers.
He staggered back a few steps, looking like he was about to fall to the ground in disarray.
It was over, over. His Little Uncle was going to die…
Shen Ci scrambled to get up and help, however the world spun around him. Then he collapsed heavily to the ground and passed out.
“Baby!” Lu Xiao roared as he lowered his head to check Shen Ci’s condition. Then seeing that he had just fainted, he let out a small sigh of relief.
When the others heard the commotion, they rushed over, causing a chaotic scene. Someone noticed Lu Xiao’s neck covered in blood, with it slowly seeping from a large wound and was too terrified to get close.
“Mr., Mr. Lu, d-do you want to bandage it first?”
Frowning Lu Xiao, waved his hand. “No need. Where’s the medical team?”
His voice and movements were as firm and steady as ever, showing no signs of him being injured.
Everyone felt a little intimidated. It had been too dark and far away for them to see what had happened clearly, however Shen Ci’s scream had been so gut-wrenching that they’d thought a murder had taken place.
The result…… this was it?
“He’s getting away!” Someone suddenly shouted.
And immediately, a few men jumped up to catch the big guy who had caused the injury. And scared out of his wits, the man turned and bolted, however he was cornered and taken down in the end. And from far away, one could hear him spewing a string of vulgar curses and angry yells.
Wei Shuo, seeing from a distance that the big guy had been subdued, felt relieved. However when he turned back, the sight of the blood on Lu Xiao’s neck almost blinded him.
“Uncle Lu, there’s so much blood……. and it’s still dripping…….. are you sure you’re okay?” He asked cautiously.
It was as if Lu Xiao had just remembered that he was injured, because frowning, he extended his long fingers and ran them from his chin to his neck, as if assessing the depth and length of the wound himself.
The cut stretched from the base of his chin down to his neck. It started deep but became shallower, ending as a superficial scratch that narrowly avoided his trachea and vital arteries.
Another stream of blood gushed out due to the pressure, splattering dramatically on the ground, causing everyone around to feel a chill in their hearts.
Even though it didn’t seem to be a fatal wound, it still looked terrifying. Yet Lu Xiao seemed completely unbothered?
Did this guy not feel pain or what….
“It’s no big deal. Baby is more important. Where’s the medical team?” Lu Xiao sounded a bit impatient.
Seeing how insistent he was, Wei Shuo could only shut his mouth.
Lu Xiao wasn’t the type to put on a brave face just to suffer silently. So if he said he was fine, then he really was fine.
What’s more he had heard from Shen Ci that due to his family background, Lu Xiao had undergone professional military training. If that was the case……. reflexively dodging to protect vital areas was probably second nature to him.
Sigh, if Shen Ci were here, he’d definitely be nagging Lu Xiao to go get his wound bandaged right away. And knowing Lu Xiao, he’d probably smile helplessly and listen to him obediently.
But why did Xiao Ci faint? He wasn’t this timid before. Wei Shuo just couldn’t figure it out.
“They’re here! The village doctor and the show’s medical team are here!” Someone, seeing the white coats running over from a distance, called out excitedly.
However the moment they arrived, they were all startled by the sight of the blood on Lu Xiao.
They were just about to start treating him when Lu Xiao stopped them coldly. He asked for antiseptic and gauze to handle it himself and told the medical staff to focus on checking Shen Ci’s condition.
His whole aura was so intense and intimidating that the medical staff, breaking into a cold sweat, had no choice but to follow his instructions.
The village doctor, an old practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, felt Shen Ci’s pulse and hesitated before saying, “Aside from extreme fright, there seems to be some other external influence? It could be the alcohol from earlier, or maybe some other substance……”
Lu Xiao’s gaze turned sharp and icy, his lips pressing into a thin, razor-like line.
The old doctor’s beard trembled as if startled. “In short, it’s nothing serious! He’ll wake up soon. Just, just let him rest for now and give him some saline or glucose…..”
With a loud “bang”, the big guy from earlier was dragged back by Shao Jinhuan, his arms twisted behind his back, and he was slammed forcefully onto the ground. No one knew where his knife had fallen.
His hostile, fierce gaze lifted and locked onto Lu Xiao, who stared back icily, without even a hint of a smile.
“What were you doing just now?”
Min Shoubei pressed his foot down on the big guy’s back, interrogating him coldly.
The big guy sneered: “Are you blind? I was r*ing! Kiling!”
Hearing this, Min Shoubei kicked him hard several times, aiming at spots that had more flesh to avoid leaving marks while ensuring maximum pain. And sure enough, the big guy howled in agony, his legs trembling uncontrollably from the pain.
“Do whatever you want—kill me, skin me, I don’t care! I won’t spill a word on the fact that I was paid to do this!”
Wei Shuo muttered quietly, “…..Aren’t you already spilling the beans?”
Getting up, Lu Xiao walked a few steps to pick something up from the ground, and then made his way back to the big guy slowly, crouching in front of him.
Then the blood-stained, icy blade pressed against the big guy’s throbbing carotid artery and began to cut into it slowly, with beads of blood rushing out immediately in a frantic stream.
“What do you think will happen if I cut deeper?”
Feeling the pain in his neck, the big guy glanced up, then felt as if his scalp had exploded, a chilling fear shooting straight through his body to the top of his head.
Crouched in front of him, was Lu Xiao whose eyes were deep and dark, brimming with an unmasked, bone-chilling ki*ling intent. Blood covered his body, and there seemed to be a cold, bloodthirsty smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He looked like a grim reaper who had just walked right out of hell.
This kind of savage, brutal gaze was completely terrifying. Even when he had seen the face of a man who’d killed his mother-in-law’s entire family and ended up in prison, it hadn’t looked like this. Only someone whose hands were really stained with blood could have such a chilling stare…..
He had no doubt that if he went against this grim reaper’s wishes, he would slit his throat expressionlessly without the slightest bit of hesitation.
He’d never been so terrified in his life. His face, full of flesh trembled uncontrollably with fear, his lips quivering as he begged for mercy softly, a distinct stench of urine beginning to fill the air.
Frowning, Min Shoubei withdrew his foot, glancing at Lu Xiao with a thoughtful expression.
“Did you drug him?” Lu Xiao asked coldly.
“Ju-just some knockout drugs. It might cause a bit of hallucination…. but it’s definitely not lethal!”
“Who sent you?”
“Uh…..”
The blade tilted slightly and cut in again, only a millimeter away from the artery.
“I’ll talk, I’ll talk! It—it’s that actress named Jiang Shu!”
