Chapter 55.1

Jiang Shu reacted quickly, forcing a gentle smile, “Ah Shuo, that joke was kind of cold.”

Wei Shuo was still very suspicious, eyeing her up and down. Jiang Shu’s palms were sweating, and she glanced at Min Shoubei’s expression secretly.

Luckily, he remained expressionless, showing no reaction, causing her to let out a breath quietly.

“Shen Ci is so cute, how could I bear to hurt him?”

If it wasn’t for the fact that she wanted to take this chance to make herself known in front of Min Shoubei, she wouldn’t even bother trying to flatter this little vase.

She never expected that the little vase she had always looked down on would actually turn out to be Min Shoubei’s long-lost son. Shen Ci was just too lucky with his birth!

Why was her family so ordinary in comparison? If she had been picked up by someone and had a big director for a dad…. she’d have been famous all over half the world by now!

As long as she could catch Min Shoubei’s eye, even if she only acted in one movie, she was sure she’d make a big comeback.

This chance was one in a million, she had to seize it no matter what.

But….. didn’t she just now look like she usually took care of Shen Ci? Why was everyone’s reaction so cold? They should have given her some respect at the very least, right?

“All done!” Shen Ci finally finished the ordeal and put the bowl down, feeling proud of himself.

Jiang Shu took the empty bowl attentively and even tried to wipe his mouth with a handkerchief in a motherly manner, “Here, let me—”

A long, slender hand however blocked her movement, the corners of Lu Xiao’s lips curved into a cold smile, “No need.”

Jiang Shu was so terrified by his cold, deep gaze that her scalp tingled. She stopped obediently, trembling as she put the handkerchief down.

What a terrifying man….. however for the sake of her career, she had to grit her teeth and push through.

So she lowered her head and stared at her shoes, trying to maintain her gentle smile as she said softly, “It’s just a casual wipe. I just really want to take care of Xiao Ci whenever I see him, maybe it’s because it’s just part of my personality.”

Wei Shuo rolled his eyes at this.

“Do you need me to remind you of what you’ve done?” Shao Jinhuan’s tone was cutting.

Jiang Shu froze. Shao Jinhuan was also too petty, right? What’s more it wasn’t even him that she’d targeted back then because of the public service advertisement!

Gritting her teeth, she forced a smile and feigned ignorance, “Are you talking about the times I played with Xiao Ci? There’s no need, haha…”

Her awkward laughter hadn’t even died down when Min Shoubei, who had been silent all along, suddenly barked, “Get out.”

Jiang Shu’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at him in surprise, anxiety building up.

Min Shoubei’s gaze was full of disdain as he threw it at her, “I’ve seen plenty of people playing tricks, but yours is so low-level that I can’t even stand it. Get out quickly, don’t waste our time.”

Jiang Shu never expected that Min Shoubei wouldn’t show her any special treatment, and would actually expose and humiliate her on the spot without any mercy.

What’s more all eyes in the room immediately turned to her, full of undisguised ridicule and annoyance, making her face burn with shame.

She thought about how she had been a screen goddess back in the day, admired by thousands.

But now she had fallen to such a level. And was not only overshadowed by a little vase of a rising star, but was also publicly humiliated…..

She struggled to maintain her composure as she stood up shakily with a forced smile, “The program team has more filming scheduled, so I’ll be leaving first. Xiao Ci, big sis will come see you another day and bring you something tasty.”

Then she left hurriedly under the gaze of the crowd.

“The annoying fly has finally buzzed off.” Min Shoubei yawned, “Xiao Bao, it’s time to talk about your identity, right?”

Shen Ci pursed his lips, feeling a little uneasy, however he nodded.

Everyone moved to the hospital’s meeting room that had been reserved from the night before, and Father and Mother Shen had also arrived.

“This, this, this…..”

Shen Ci stared at the thick stack of unsigned agreements on the table, then looked up to see the room full of people staring at him with hopeful eyes, causing him to feel his head start to pound.

It turned out the Min and Shen families had argued half the night, neither of them willing to give Shen Ci up. So from his name to his household registration, from his place of residence to his inheritance, in the end, everything was handled with one solution—let Shen Ci decide for himself.

However for someone with decision-making anxiety, it would’ve been kinder to just hand him a knife and end it quickly….

Shen Ci spent the entire morning communicating with both families and the lawyers, and after listening to several rounds of veiled threats from the business bigwigs, he finally pieced together a rough idea.

His household registration would go to the Min family, his surname would remain Shen, and his place of residence…..

In short, to summarize, he was a child of both families.

The specific terms of the agreement would be further refined by the lawyer Lu Xiao had brought in, so this matter was more or less settled.

The parents who had rushed over were all very busy with their work, so they couldn’t stay long and were planning to leave that same afternoon.

Shen Ci decided to take a break from the show, booked a hotel, then stayed in town for the night to send everyone off at the airport.

And just after saying goodbye to Min Song, the three from the Shen family arrived at the airport as well.

Father Shen and Mother Shen had already gone through security, however Shen Bie suddenly turned back, grabbed Shen Ci, then pulled him a few steps away.

“Big brother, what are you doing?” Shen Ci asked in surprise.

The airport was small and not crowded. Shen Bie lowered his head slightly, and looking at his confused little brother, couldn’t help but laugh.

After everything that had happened, he suddenly felt that as long as his little brother stayed with the Shen family, everything else was negotiable.

He pinched Shen Ci’s cheek, sighing dramatically, “Ah, my little cub has grown up…”

Shen Ci: ?

Shen Bie’s face suddenly turned a bit tragic. Then he took the bulging backpack he had on off and handed it to Shen Ci.

“Big brother has thought it over. I’ll support whatever choice you make, as long as you don’t throw a tantrum and refuse to come home.”

“But you have to be rational and not act on impulse. I brought you some stuff, so make sure to prepare yourself properly! Take care of yourself!”

Shen Ci, totally confused, accepted the programmer’s backpack dumbly then watched as Shen Bie walked off toward security coolly.

After waving the three of them off, Shen Ci, now wearing sunglasses and a mask, got back into the car with his bodyguard. Curiosity got the best of him, and he unzipped the backpack—only to find a colorful assortment of small packets, big and small bottles of various lubricants, and even some strange-looking pink toys…

Shen Ci: “!!!”

His face instantly turned bright red as if it had been steamed. Then cursing under his breath, he zipped the bag back up immediately.

Damn it, he wanted to call 110 and have Shen Bie arrested for public obscenity immediately! What on earth was going on in his head?

With a backpack full of inappropriate items strapped to him like a bomb, Shen Ci snuck out of the car in the underground parking lot then dashed into the hotel elevator with it hurriedly like a thief.

The elevator stopped on the 15th floor, and he rushed toward his room, only to bump into someone head-on.

Lu Xiao, with sharp reflexes, caught the child and smiled with doting helplessness, “Why are you running so fast? Be careful not to trip.”

Shen Ci, dizzy from the collision, shook his head, and when he realized it was Lu Xiao, his face flushed even more. He mumbled a quick greeting and then bolted, still clutching the backpack.

Raising an eyebrow, Lu Xiao turned to watch his flustered retreating figure, his gaze thoughtful.

Did baby have a big backpack…. just now?

Interesting.
