Chapter 73.1

Editor: Princess

After arriving in H Country, transportation and accommodation had already been arranged.

Everyone rested briefly, then had to familiarize themselves with the first scene according to the shooting schedule in the afternoon and hold the opening ceremony.

Shen Ci had slept a bit on the plane, and so was still relatively alert, volunteering to help Brother Zhang pack luggage.

As a result, he was expelled by Brother Zhang ruthlessly. “Go away, you this little young master can’t pack anything properly. Go pick your toes somewhere else.”

Driven away, Shen Ci could only sit on the sofa boredly, swinging his feet and flipping through the script.

Although Brother Zhang was a gold-medal agent, he currently only had Shen Ci as his artist and so was in a leisurely semi-vacation state.

Under Lu Xiao’s special orders, he received double salary while his workload was reduced to one-third of the original. Brother Zhang was quite happy about this.

However, perhaps because he had too little work, in the year of managing Shen Ci, Brother Zhang had proactively taken on all matters big and small, turning himself into an assistant.

Shen Ci was puzzled by this. Personally handling so many trivial matters, wouldn’t that be more tiring?

Even Lu An had hired an assistant through Yunxiao, yet Brother Zhang insisted on personally staying by Shen Ci’s side, saying he didn’t trust strangers to take care of his daily needs.

Shen Ci couldn’t argue with him and so had to give up.

The scene they were going to familiarize themselves with in the afternoon was a high school, very close to the hotel, only about ten minutes by car. They could chat on the minibus and arrive in no time.

“Brother Lu, do you want some sunscreen spray?” Lu An’s new assistant, Yu Yang, waved sunscreen spray at Lu An enthusiastically, trying to build a good relationship with him.

This was Yu Yang’s first time as a celebrity assistant, and he really liked and treasured this job.

Lu An had very few demands and never made things difficult for him. He was also very easy on the eyes. Working as an assistant for such a star was simply too wonderful.

Moreover… although Lu An was currently a small-time newcomer, he had good looks and solid acting skills.

What’s more right from his career start, he’d connected with Min Shoubei.

His starting point was already the career goal of countless people in the industry.

Anyone with eyes could see his unlimited future potential. As long as he didn’t go astray and focused on acting, he would inevitably grow into a brilliant superstar.

If he could build a good relationship with this future big shot from his humble beginnings and maintain contact, even becoming good friends… Yu Yang felt excited just thinking about it. When he showed off at drinking parties later, it would be so prestigious!

“Thank you.” Lu An accepted it and reached out to remove one of Shen Ci’s earphones. “Xiao Ci, want sunscreen spray?”

Yu Yang: ???

Shen Ci paused and smiled brightly at Lu An. “Wow, Xiao An, when did you become such a refined boy? I completely forgot about this! Of course I want some.”

Yu Yang looked bewildered as he watched the future big shot lending flowers to offer to Buddha, carefully and attentively spraying all of Shen Ci’s exposed skin with focused expression.

“Brother Lu… you should spray some too?” Yu Yang tried to speak up.

Lu An “mm”ed and casually sprayed himself twice before returning it to Yu Yang.

Yu Yang: …Brother Lu, if you’re being kidnapped, just blink.

Lu An noticed the car gradually slowing down and took out a sun hat and sunglasses from his bag, handing them to Shen Ci. “Want a mask?”

Shen Ci put on the sunglasses and started arranging his hair to put on the hat. “No need. Nobody knows me in a foreign country anyway. Wearing one would be too hot.”

Lu An: “Alright, later you should—”

He frowned mid-sentence and reached out to adjust Shen Ci’s hat and hair, pulling the little tuft from inside the hat to rest outside it. “Keep your head down later and have Brother Zhang shield you a bit.”

“Got it.” Shen Ci naturally let Lu An help him arrange everything, as if he was already used to it.

Yu Yang looked completely confused.

This was way too different from what he had imagined!

When Lu An interacted with him, he clearly had the aloof big shot demeanor. How come he was being more helpful than an assistant in front of this spoiled little pretty vase…

He knew Shen Ci was impressive with strong background and resources, but he was still just a talentless pretty face with only looks, completely lifeless, destined to disappear from this industry sooner or later.

Yet Lu An, someone who was 99% likely to become a Best Actor, was being used like an assistant by a pretty vase destined to disappear?

What was the reason? Just because this pretty vase was rich and well-connected? Even as an outsider, he felt indignant for Lu An!

When Yu Yang came back to his senses, Shen Ci and Lu An had already gotten off the car. He hurried to follow.

The high school was having its weekend, with only a few scattered students or staff walking around. Min Shoubei had already made arrangements with the school.

Min Shoubei pointed out several important set locations, and department supervisors and relevant actors went to examine them carefully, discussing how to set up and shoot while referencing the script.

“Old Min, those girls over there seem to be taking photos.” The screenwriter patted Min Shoubei’s shoulder as a reminder.

Min Shoubei looked through his sunglasses and indeed saw several girls with backpacks holding phones, excitedly discussing something while filming.

The translator listened carefully, however his lips twitched. “They’re saying the boy with the ponytail has a great figure, very fair skin, and looks incredibly handsome in sunglasses…”

Everyone searched around, then their gazes silently focused on a certain innocent little tuft of hair.

“…” Under everyone’s gaze, Shen Ci silently accepted the mask Lu An handed him and obediently put it on.

Why was it so troublesome even without fans… Was being handsome his fault? Could he still go out on the street?

Shen Ci wanted to cry inwardly.

The girls saw Shen Ci put his mask back on and sighed regretfully, but still took many photos of his back, preparing to share them on IG.

The security guards hired by the crew had to step in, politely asking the girls to leave and not disturb the crew’s work.

This brief incident didn’t affect the subsequent work.

They familiarized themselves with all the locations that needed sets, held the opening ceremony as scheduled, then the entire crew entered a tense working state.

In the evening, Min Shoubei talked with all the main actors and department supervisors individually, confirming tomorrow’s shooting tasks.

Shen Ci and Lu An were found first, so after the talk, Min Shoubei specifically instructed both to sleep early since they had to get up early tomorrow.

“Director Min definitely wants you to perform well tomorrow, so he specifically found you first to let you sleep more. Brother Lu, Director Min seems to value you a lot! You must seize more opportunities to build a good relationship with him…”

On the way back to their rooms, Yu Yang chattered incessantly. Lu An was getting quite annoyed. “That’s not something an assistant should consider. Go to sleep.”

Yu Yang choked and quickly tried to make amends. “Sorry, Brother Lu, I was too talkative. I’ll go run your bath water right now.”

Lu An firmly but tactfully refused. Yu Yang could only slink away dejectedly, feeling somewhat indignant.

This Lu An really wouldn’t listen to advice! Building good relationships with big shots would make his path smoother!

It seemed that despite having big shot potential, he was still mentally a child.

Yu Yang felt deeply moved and planned to help Lu An properly when the opportunity arose.

Maybe he could even become the benefactor who helped Lu An become famous.

  • After showering, Shen Ci held his script and lay on the bed, re-organizing the scenes he had to perform tomorrow.

Compared to TV dramas, film shooting had slightly less volume but quality was more important.

Min Shoubei was famously strict. Even an actress like Tang Yingying might have to reshoot a scene dozens of times.

He felt confident about tomorrow’s scenes, but he was still a bit scared. What if he delayed the shooting schedule?
