Chapter 71.2

Editor: Princess

The muffled sound of leather shoes on the floor thundered like lightning. Yang Yan was so frightened she crawled backward, her face ashen.

Several people dressed as security guards ran to the entrance. Yang Yan’s eyes lit up with hope as she crawled toward the door: “Save me… I don’t want to die, save me…”

The security guards acted as if they didn’t see her, bowing to Lu Xiao in panic: “Sorry, President Lu, did we disturb your work?”

Yang Yan’s crawling limbs froze as she watched Lu Xiao casually wave the people away. The cold-faced assistant came over to firmly restrain her, stuffing a large wad of cloth into her mouth.

“That was the hand you used to hit my baby, wasn’t it?”

Lu Xiao’s voice was calm as he slowly stepped on her right hand under Yang Yan’s extremely terrified gaze…

“Damn, this drug has quite an aftereffect…” Shen Bie’s eyes were bright red as his little brother helped him into the elevator.

Shen Ci touched Shen Bie’s face worriedly, and finding it burning hot, he sighed: “Dad reserved a room on the top floor. I’ll take you there first, then I’ll call Dr. Mo later.”

The elevator doors, which had been halfway closed, suddenly reopened. Wen Ran, wearing a flashy deep red suit, extended one hand to block the elevator while the other was in his pants pocket. He showed the brothers an innocent yet dissolute smile.

“Little beauty, why is your face all red again? Want big brother to help cool you down?”

Shen Ci woodenly jabbed the close button frantically, but Wen Ran slowly walked in and reached out to touch Shen Ci’s cheek.

His hand was caught halfway there. Shen Bie’s eyes were bloodshot as he sneered coldly: “Well, well, someone’s actually throwing themselves at the gun barrel.”

Wen Ran’s mouth gradually twitched in pain, his wrist bone nearly crushed. He bared his teeth and tried to kick Shen Bie: “Fuck your mother! Who the hell are you?! Let go! It hurts like hell!”

Shen Bie slammed him against the elevator wall coldly with a “thud”, grabbing his collar and asking in a deep voice: “Don’t recognize me?”

“…Recognize your mother!” Wen Ran’s head throbbed from the impact, making him dizzy as he struggled desperately to break free.

Unfortunately, Wen Ran had overindulged to the point where his tall, thin body was extremely weak with no strength. He couldn’t push away Shen Bie, whose arm muscles were bulging with terrifying veins.

Shen Bie’s eyes were bloodshot: “Wasn’t getting taught a lesson in university enough? Now you’re coming to harass my little brother again? Hm?”

“What kind of fucking nonsense are you spouting?! Get lost!” Wen Ran was completely enraged but helpless, so he could only bare his small fangs to bite Shen Bie’s hand.

Shen Bie decisively used his other hand to clamp Wen Ran’s jaw shut, quickly pinning both of his arms behind his back, restraining him firmly.

Wen Ran remained completely powerless throughout the struggle, cursing furiously while his eyes reddened with rage.

Two men with substantial builds fought in the cramped space, making the air feel scorching and thin as their confrontation took on a truly terrifying intensity.

Shen Ci cowered in the elevator corner, terrified of being caught in the crossfire as chaotic thoughts surged through his mind.

How had things escalated to this point?!

His big brother’s violent fury proved unstoppable and imposing, leaving him too frightened to interject even a single word.

Ding—the elevator opened.

Shen Bie wore a menacing expression as he pushed Wen Ran toward a particular suite, while Wen Ran cursed in panicked fury. Yet Shen Bie remained calm and composed as he dragged him along and opened a door.

“Holy shit! Damn you, let me go!” Wen Ran screamed in terror as Shen Bie lifted him like a small chicken and hurled him into the room, slamming the door shut with a bang and clicking the lock.

The five-star hotel’s soundproofing proved excellent enough that even if Shen Bie beat someone to death inside, Shen Ci would hear nothing.

Shen Ci stood dumbfounded outside the door, deeply confused and unable to process what had happened for quite some time.

What the hell? Was his big brother planning to lock him inside and beat him up?

Shen Bie looked fierce enough to kill someone right now. It was too terrifying. Should he call the police…?

However, he probably had some sense of restraint…

Never mind, never mind. Wen Ran deserved such a beating anyway, so he might as well let his big brother drag him inside for a proper thrashing.

After this self-hypnosis, Shen Ci walked awkwardly back to the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor in a daze.

His face had turned pale from shock, and just as he exited the elevator, he bumped into Lu Xiao and Wei Shuo.

“Holy crap, what happened to your face?!”

Wei Shuo pulled him aside anxiously, gently touching his swollen red cheek with deep concern.

Only then did Shen Ci remember he had been injured. He waved his hand dismissively: “It’s nothing…”

Lu Xiao’s brow remained furrowed: “Baby, let’s go home.”

Shen Ci nodded with a vacant expression, pulling Lu Xiao’s arm as they returned to the elevator.

Wei Shuo: “…Did that slap turn him into a mentally impaired child?”

Shen Ci let out a long sigh: “I’ll tell you about it later…”

After returning home early, Lu Xiao reported to Shen Ci’s family, and their evening plans to visit Min Shoubei’s house had to be cancelled.

“We’re departing for Country H the day after tomorrow to film, right?” In the car on the way back, Lu Xiao held him sideways on his lap, using an ice pack the assistant had found hastily to apply cold compress to Shen Ci’s injury.

“Mm…” Shen Ci rested his cheek against Lu Xiao’s neck, enveloped by familiar feelings of security as his body, tense from the frightening experience, relaxed gradually.

Gentle piano music flowed through the car’s quiet interior, creating the perfect atmosphere.

Lu Xiao gathered several strands of Shen Ci’s soft hair, winding them around his fingers while gazing at him thoughtfully.

“During tonight’s banquet… I had prepared a surprise for you.”

Lu Xiao’s voice was deep and mellow as he kissed Shen Ci’s scattered hair and earlobe.

For once, Shen Ci didn’t drowsily drift toward sleep, instead looking up to ask: “What surprise?”

Lu Xiao smiled: “If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore. Wait until you finish filming.”

“Alright.” Shen Ci responded casually without much concern, settling back against Lu Xiao’s neck and closing his eyes.

The environment felt very peaceful, and he gradually fell asleep, dreaming repeatedly of a lion fighting a leopard.

The leopard was fast but lacked strength, completely unable to match the lion, which bit the leopard’s scruff and carried it away.

The lion carelessly threw the leopard to the ground, opened its bloody maw, and viciously bit into the leopard’s belly, causing blood and flesh to fly everywhere—

Then Shen Ci woke up startled.

Almost simultaneously, Lu Xiao’s eyes also opened alertly, then he saw Shen Ci staring at the ceiling with wide deer-like eyes while breathing heavily, causing his brows to furrow.

Thick curtains blocked the morning light, keeping the small apartment dim.

He pulled Shen Ci closer into his arms, kissing the tip of his nose: “What did you dream about?”

Shen Ci remained dazed: “I dreamed that my big brother killed someone.”

Lu Xiao’s lips curved into a helpless smile, assuming he hadn’t fully awakened and was talking nonsense: “Baby, sleep a little more. I remember… you still need to meet the new drama cast this afternoon for a livestream together?”

“Oh right!” Shen Ci almost forgot, immediately closing his eyes: “Sleep, sleep, I have to conserve energy…”

The air conditioning was set low, making Shen Ci’s hands and feet cold, so he simply wrapped himself around Lu Xiao with all four limbs and quickly became drowsy again.

Just as he was about to drift back to sleep, an annoying phone ringtone shattered the tranquility.

Based on the ringtone, it was his phone. He had no choice but to reach under the pillow to retrieve his phone as he frowned, checking the caller ID.

Lu Xiao’s large hand stroked along Shen Ci’s smooth spine as he asked in a husky voice: “Whose call?”

Shen Ci: “…The murderer.”
