Chapter 66.2

Editor: Princess

Though Shen Ci seemed distracted, he had absorbed what Lu Xiao said. So over the next few days, he earnestly sought opinions from all his teachers.

The results surprised him—the teachers believed that with his natural talent, combined with diligent training and effort, he could handle Min Shoubei’s film just fine.

“After all, your intuition exceeds your technique. As long as you can empathize and embody the character, you can easily bring the role to life. Director Min will teach you more on set. Practical experience and interaction with other actors will help you the most.”

Shen Ci nodded solemnly and bowed to the academy teacher: “Thank you for your guidance, teacher.”

The teacher chuckled: “There’s no need, there’s no need. Go back now, Lu An has been waiting for you for a long time.”

However just as Shen Ci was about to turn and leave, the teacher called out: “By the way, to better portray the protagonist with psychological issues, you and Lu An… should observe relevant patients through direct contact.”

“Alright, thank you, teacher.”

Lu An had already walked to Shen Ci’s side and answered for him, pulling him back to their seats.

“Why are you in such a hurry?” Shen Ci couldn’t help but laugh.

Lu An patted the fashion magazine he had borrowed: “What else? Time is running out.”

Shen Ci resigned himself to flipping through fashion shoots with Lu An, reluctantly studying the models’ techniques.

The Entertainment Pictorial cover shoot was scheduled for a week later. And having no experience, Lu An began studying modeling techniques in his spare time frantically, dragging Shen Ci along as he did so.

Was this what being a top student meant…?

Shen Ci already had enough trouble analyzing classic acting clips and couldn’t be bothered to explore a new field, so he simply called Min Song directly to ask if she was available.

Min Song was happy to teach them, specially choosing an afternoon to visit Yunxiao Entertainment, where she trained them in basic expressions and gazes, and taught many practical techniques.

And Lu An, true to his reputation as a quick-learning genius, seemed divinely enlightened by Min Song’s casual training.

Just his standing posture exuded presence, nearly blinding Shen Ci’s puppy eyes.

“By the way, call me when you go to the shoot. I’ll accompany you.” Min Song said before leaving, putting on her sunglasses.

“Why?”, slipped out of Shen Ci’s mouth, and even Lu An’s typically calm eyes showed surprise.

Min Song smiled slightly, her painted lips curving seductively: “For backup.”

On the day of the cover shoot:

Lu An had neither an assistant nor an agent and was completely alone, so Shen Ci simply had Brother Zhang pick him up, which delayed them considerably.

After reaching the magazine building, they had only minutes before their appointment time. Brother Zhang quickly dropped them at the main entrance and drove to the underground parking lot.

Entertainment Pictorial was a highly respected magazine in the industry. The editors and photographers tended to be somewhat arrogant, which was why Min Song wanted to come and assert her presence.

But Shen Ci and Lu An hadn’t expected even the receptionist to look down on them so much.

“Here for a cover shoot? So you two are Director Min’s publicity stunt newcomers. You look decent enough… but sadly you’re just empty vases.”

“You’re a complete rookie? Called Lu something—whatever, I forgot. They chose you as leads? This film might just be Director Min’s downfall, haha.”

“And you, riding on your father’s coattails—your acting is probably mediocre at best. You better go back to idol dramas.”

The beautiful receptionist looked at them with pitying condescension: “This is probably the only time in your lives you’ll ever come here, and you’re even late? Enjoy the experience while you can.”

Shen Ci, unaccustomed to such treatment, angrily furrowed his brow, ready to argue, however Lu An grabbed his wrist.

Coming from humble origins and studying acting, Lu An was used to both explicit and implicit insults, so he tried to defuse the situation calmly: “We apologize for troubling you. Could you please show us the way?”

Seeing them back down, the receptionist became even more arrogant, tossing them a guide map impatiently: “Look for yourselves! Acting like big shots? I’m waiting for calls from real celebrities’ agents!”

How were they acting like big shots? Providing directions was the receptionist’s job!

Shen Ci was grinding his teeth with anger. As a celebrity currently in the spotlight, he couldn’t casually lose his temper.

Where did she get the confidence to speak so rudely?

“What are you looking at? Want to scold me? Heh, do you know what relationship Wen Ran, the young master of the Wen family, has with me?” The receptionist smiled coquettishly: “He’s from an elite family and owns a multinational entertainment company. Even if your father is Min Shoubei, you can’t afford to offend him.”

Wen Ran again? Shen Ci frowned. Could he be her boyfriend…?

The receptionist smiled seductively: “He’s my aunt’s best friend’s niece’s roommate’s boyfriend’s good brother. That practically makes him my friend. I even have photos with him.”

“…” Shen Ci’s mouth twitched, not quite remembering the relationship chain.

Nevermind, next time he saw Wen Ran, he wouldn’t just tear his mouth off—smashing his head seemed more worthwhile.

Just then the steady, clear sound of high heels approached from behind. The two turned around to see Min Song arriving precisely on time.

Min Song walked with her signature powerful model stride, tossing her wavy curls back over her shoulders. She was wearing an oversized pure black suit with a tight black short skirt that revealed her enchanting figure subtly.

Snow-white skin, fiery red lips pressed tightly together, Min Song’s entire aura was like a freshly drawn blade, making people avoid her sharp edge instinctively.

Min Song removed her sunglasses, revealing her cold, beautiful face. Instantly, the receptionist’s eyes lit up, and she plastered on a fawning smile.

“Teacher Min! What brings you to our magazine? I’ll call the editor-in-chief right away!”

When addressing strangers, Min Song’s voice was particularly cold: “Accompanying these two young friends for the cover shoot.”

The receptionist’s pupils shook with shock, but she quickly recovered her smile: “Of course, of course. Thank you for your trouble. I’ll call someone down to receive you right away!”

This receptionist was far too two-faced! So warm to celebrities but bullying smaller names?

Shen Ci felt inexplicably wronged after being randomly belittled by her.

But complaining would be childish… he struggled internally before swallowing his anger.

Be more philosophical—revenge is a dish best served cold.

When he gained higher status in the industry and returned for another cover shoot, he’d make her eat her words!

Lu An however spoke up calmly: “Sister Song, she just said Xiao Ci would only come here once in his lifetime, and insulted him as a useless vase who rode on his father’s coattails.”

The receptionist: “…”

Shen Ci: “…”

Min Song raised her delicate, slender eyebrow, glancing at the petrified receptionist, the sharpness in her light pupils undisguised: “Oh? Your magazine’s hospitality is quite interesting.”
